Lee Teng and wife welcome their rainbow baby, Entertainment News

Local host Lee Teng is now a father. The 41-year-old announced the good news in an Instagram post today (Aug 13), with photos of him and his wife Gina Lin in the delivery room and together with their child, named Ellison. The couple hadn't revealed the pregnancy previously. He wrote: "It has been five years since we lost our little one, those years have been anything but easy. My wife and I have faced countless setbacks and there were moments when I couldn't bear to see her disappointment." Lee Teng ended the post with: "The wait has been long, but the moment I saw the smile on our rainbow baby's face, I knew every second was worth it." Lee Teng and Lin, 31, announced in 2020 that they were expecting their first child, a boy nicknamed Xiao Dou Ya (Little Bean Sprout). However, Lin had a miscarriage when she was six months pregnant after she returned to Taiwan to prepare for the birth. "From the moment I heard your first cry, it felt so unreal. I wake up every morning and ask myself, 'Is this true?' Thank you for coming safely to us. Your father and I only hope you will be healthy and safe. Thank you, my rainbow baby." She also apologised for her "disappearance" for a period of time and thanked every one who took care of her during her pregnancy. Singaporean yo-yo maestro Xavier Ng 'very proud' of achievement at recent World Yo-yo Contest

Four-time Singaporean yo-yo champion Xavier Ng is now officially amongst the top yo-yo players in the world. The 22-year-old student placed first during the semi-finals of the recent World Yo-yo Contest, held in Prague, and ended up finishing in fifth place at the finals. Speaking to CNA Lifestyle, Ng said that he was "very proud" of his performance. "I'm very proud of my performance. especially winning the World semi-finals on Aug 9, which was Singapore's National Day. I'd like to think I made Singapore proud," stated Ng. "That said, my finals routine had a couple of mistakes due to nervousness and pressure. Without them, I believe I could have placed in the top three. I'd be lying if I said there's no regret or disappointment, but that's part of life and competition." In a previous interview with CNA Lifestyle, Ng shared that his passion for the yo-yo began at the age of 12 after he became hooked on a Chinese animated series called Blazing Teens. His first yo-yo came from the show's merchandise and over the years, he developed his skills, taking part in the likes of school talent shows and competitions. In 2019, he placed first at the Singapore Yo-Yo Championships, winning his very first national title. "In the past, I only practised about an hour a day for contests," admitted Ng. "But in 2025, I committed to a minimum of three hours daily and the results showed. This experience reinforced how much consistent, focused practise can pay off." That said, Ng is also training for next year's iterations of the Asia Pacific Championships and World Yoyo Championships.

Forum: Parade brought many elements together perfectly

Sign up now: Get ST's newsletters delivered to your inbox I want to congratulate the organisers of the 2025 National Day Parade, a complex mega-event. The event featured air, sea and land elements coordinated perfectly. Creative director Boo Junfeng's focus on diversity and multiculturalism was world class and full of panache. The choreography was good, and pairing seasoned and newer singers blended the generational gaps very well. The parade was a wonderful way to celebrate Singapore's 60th birthday, and I am sure the whole nation is proud. Well done, Singapore. Hua Tye Swee
