No foreign power can enslave us: Farmers across India hail PM Modi's agri trade stance
'Prime Minister Modi has made an unwavering statement in the interest of farmers, livestock rearers, and fishermen,' said Dharmendra Choudhary, National President of the Indian Farmer Chaudhary Charan Singh Organisation. 'This vision brings relief to millions and strengthens rural India's self-reliance.'
Virendra Lohan, representing Chhattisgarh's Youth Progressive Farmers' Association, praised the leadership for standing firm against multinational interests: 'The courageous decision not to allow American companies into our agriculture and dairy sectors is echoing in every field, village, and cowshed,' he said.
'The Indian farmer is the soul of this nation, and no foreign power can ever control that soul.' Dharmendra Malik, another prominent farmer leader urged the government to stay the course: 'We thank the Prime Minister and the Agriculture Minister and appeal to stand firm on this policy. We will always stand by you.'

Modi likely to visit US for UNGA meet in Sept
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address the annual high-level session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September, according to a provisional list of speakers issued by the United Nations. The 80th session of the UNGA will open on September 9. The high-level General Debate will run from September 23-29, with Brazil as the traditional first speaker of the session, followed by the US. US President Donald Trump will address world leaders from the iconic UNGA podium on September 23, his first address to the United Nations session in his second term in the White House. According to the provisional list of speakers for the high-level debate of the 80th session of the General Assembly, India's 'Head of Government (HG)' will address the session on the morning of September 26. The Heads of Government of Israel, China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh are also scheduled to address the UNGA general debate on the same day. Modi had travelled to the US in February this year for a bilateral meeting with Trump in the White House in Washington. In a joint statement issued after their meeting, Modi and Trump had announced plans to negotiate the first tranche of a mutually beneficial, multi-sector Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) by the fall of 2025.

PerPlexing Google...Perplexity makes surprise $34.5bn bid for Chrome
Perplexity, an AI company headed by Indian-origin CEO Aravind Srinivas, made headlines when it made a bold move to acquire Google Chrome for as much as $34.5 billion. Perplexity is no stranger to making such bold offers. In January, it made a similar one for TikTok US and had offered to merge with the video-making platform, amid concerns in America about TikTok's Chinese ownership. But does Perplexity have the kind of money to acquire Google Chrome for $34.5 billion? The all-cash offer made by Aravind Srinivas to acquire Chrome from Sundar Pichai's Alphabet was far beyond Perplexity's own valuation. Perplexity AI Inc, whose artificial intelligence-powered search engine competes with Google, was valued at $18 billion in July after raising fresh capital. The company brought in $100 million with the financing, Bloomberg reported, quoting a person familiar with the matter. This deal was an extension of a previous round a few months ago that valued the company at $14 billion, according to the report. Perplexity, founded by Srinivas in 2022, has raised around $1 billion in funding so far from investors, including Nvidia and Japan's SoftBank. However, Perplexity did not comment on how exactly it plans to buy Google Chrome. Multiple funds have offered to finance the deal in full, Perplexity said, without naming the funds. Perplexity already has an AI browser, Comet, that can perform certain tasks on a user's behalf and buying Chrome would allow it to tap the browser's more than three billion users. Google has, however, not offered Chrome up for sale as it plans to challenge a US court ruling last year that found it held an unlawful monopoly in online search. Chrome has been facing regulatory pressure amid findings of its monopoly in the industry, and companies like OpenAI, Yahoo and private-equity firm Apollo Global Management have also expressed interest to buy the browser.
