India uniquely placed to benefit from breakthroughs in AI: Indian CG, Shanghai
India, as an IT superpower, is uniquely placed to benefit from breakthroughs in AI and is set to emerge as the third-largest economy, India's Consul General of Shanghai Pratik Mathur said on Friday.
Mathur, speaking at an annual Consul Generals and CEOs Business Forum in Shanghai, said, "It's a great time to be in Asia, especially India. We are the world's largest and fastest growing democracy with a significant population in the lower to middle class that's educated, aspirational and hungry for consumption."

and breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (AI), he said.

The recent measures taken by the government are indeed revolutionary, promoting indigenisation efforts in ship building, private participation in nuclear power sector, while at the same time boosting the consumption-based economy by giving tax breaks to a 400 million strong middle class, arguably one of the largest in the world, he said.

Mysuru: The horticulture department has introduced a 50% subsidy on solar-powered irrigation pumps for growers in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar. Under the scheme, Rs 1 lakh will be provided for a 3 HP solar pump and Rs 3 lakh for a 5 HP pump. The initiative not only reduces operational costs, but also promotes sustainable irrigation over diesel or grid-powered systems. Farmers cultivating horticulture crops in their fields can apply for the scheme without the condition of having drip irrigation and sprinkler systems installed to avail themselves of the benefit. The department has given preference to small and marginal farmers in the first phase and plans to extend the scheme to others later. To obtain this benefit for the installation of solar pumps from the horticulture department, farmers must submit a written affidavit certified by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited, stating that they did not benefit from KREDL and did not avail themselves of the benefit from the PM KUSUM scheme. Farmers must install solar pumps after purchasing them from a certified company from the state energy department at their own cost, then claim the subsidy amount after full installation from the department, he said. He mentioned that apart from providing a 50% subsidy for the installation of solar pumps, his department has also provided a 75% subsidy to encourage honeybee farming for general category farmers and a 90% subsidy for SC/ST farmers. Speaking to TOI, deputy director of horticulture of Mysuru district, Manjunath Angadi said that the department has already given instructions to all taluk assistant directors of horticulture to start identifying the beneficiaries to avail themselves of the subsidy benefit for the installation of solar pumps in their horticulture fields and start distributing subsidies after the completion of installation. 1 2 3 Chandigarh: Within days of establishing the elected body, tensions have emerged between the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee manned trust, which manages the Miri-Piri group of institutions, including the medical college at Kurukshetra. The war of words between the two Sikh bodies intensified after the executive body of the HSGMC, led by president Jagdish Singh Jhinda, former president Baljit Singh Daduwal, and other executive members, visited the medical college site in Shahabad Markanda. This was followed by a meeting with the Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini. During their visit to the medical college, Jhinda and Baljit Singh Daduwal asked the local management to hand over control to the HSGMC as the premises were established on the land of Gurdwara Mastgarh Sahib. "During their tenure, the SGPC created a private trust and raised the building of the said medical college on the land owned by Gurdwara Sahib. Now, with the implementation of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Act 2014, all the gurughars are under the control of the HSGMC. According to the act, the movable and immovable assets on gurughars and their land are now under the control of the HSGMC. Cops intensify search for Maoists in Odisha forests
1 2 Bhubaneswar: The recent intensified operations against Maoists in Chhattisgarh has reportedly forced them to disperse and seek refuge in adjacent forest areas, police officials said. Acting on intelligence reports, the special operation group (SOG) and district voluntary force (DVF) launched search operations in Charmal forests of Sambalpur district. Intelligence reports suggest that there was suspicious movement of some rebels from Chhattisgarh, who took shelter in these forests, prompting swift action from security forces. "It is an area domination exercise that is being carried out as part of ongoing offensive, search, and combing operations in Maoist-dominated areas in the state. It is not fully confirmed if the rebels dispersed and are trying to shift their bases. Considering their dwindling numbers in Odisha, it is not likely that they will have any sort of offensive action against security forces," said a senior police officer privy to the ongoing operations.
