KPDN Eyes RM300,000 In Sales Through KBBM At Southern Zone Tour

ISKANDAR PUTERI, June 28 (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) is targeting over RM300,000 in sales through the Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign (KBBM) during its Southern Zone Carnival Tour 2025, which began here yesterday.
KPDN Business Development Division director Adiratno Che Ani said the KBBM pavilion recorded RM93,910 in sales on the first day alone, despite coinciding with several large-scale events in the state.

'We are confident that Johor consumers' purchasing power will help us surpass RM300,000 in total sales over the three-day programme, which involves 63 vendors,' he told Bernama at the carnival in Puteri Harbour today.
He said the pavilion features entrepreneurs from Johor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan, representing a variety of local brands that are gaining traction among consumers.
'Among the well-known names taking part are Zus Coffee, Adabi and Mamee Double Decker, along with strategic partners such as Proton and Perodua, which are showcasing their products outside the pavilion,' he said.

Adiratno said the campaign not only focuses on food and beverages, but also highlights household items, health and beauty products, clothing and other lifestyle goods produced by local entrepreneurs.
'KBBM has been revitalised to boost public awareness and confidence in locally made products, which are comparable in quality to international brands. It also provides more space for local entrepreneurs to tap into wider markets,' he said.
He also urged the public to visit the carnival this long weekend and support local vendors, many of whom may not yet be widely recognised as Malaysian-made brands.

'These barriers remain deeply entrenched in our societies and too often, business structures and practices appear gender-neutral, but continue to reinforce inequality in effect,' he said in his remarks at the Regional Workshop on Gender Lens Perspective on Business and Human Rights in ASEAN here on Monday. He emphasised that gender discrimination in business settings remains both a cause and a consequence of broader inequality, particularly for women and girls, and should be recognised as a form of violence. 'We see on our TV screens, we see in the media, news about war and genocides, that is actual violence, that is physical violence, that is something that we are against. 'But structural and cultural discrimination is also a form of violence, and I think that is something that we need to localise,' he said. Bon added that ASEAN must ensure its frameworks reflect the lived realities of women and girls in line with international standards such as the United Nations Guiding Principles (UNGPs) on Business and Human Rights.

Johor is also emerging as a key regional hub for data centres, further boosting demand for industrial properties. In first quarter of this year, a total of 353 housing units were transacted in Johor, with terraced units and semi-detached units being the most prominent. Johor Bahru remains the preferred location for industrial players, accounting for about 57 per cent of the state's transactions in the same year. "Retail activity in Johor especially in Johor Bahru has shown promising growth following the reopening of international borders and the strengthening of the Singapore dollar. "These factors have spurred shopping activity among Singaporean visitors. The limited supply of high-quality malls is expected to support higher occupancy rates in established retail centres. "In Johor, the average occupancy rate was 72.8 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to 72.9 per cent in the first quarter of 2025. There were no new retail developments in the state during this time. "In the Johor Bahru district, the average occupancy rate was maintained at 72.4 per cent in the first quarter of 2025," said the statement. Kyrgyzstan To Sell 300 Kg Of Gold To Malaysia For US$36 Million
BISHKEK (Kyrgyzstan), June 30 (Bernama-Kabar) -- Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) and a contract for the sale and purchase of refined gold in the form of measured bars with Public Gold Marketing Sdn Bhd, the company reported. According to the Kyrgyz National News Agency (Kabar), the MoC was signed as part of the official visit of President Sadyr Zhaparov to Malaysia from June 24–25. Kyrgyzaltyn entered into an agreement with the Malaysian company Public Gold Group on the purchase and sale in 2025 of 300 kilograms (kg) of Kyrgyz gold in the form of 1 kg gold bars for a total of about US$36 million.
