RAS scores for Dolphins' 2025 rookie class
The Miami Dolphins emphasized size over speed in the 2025 NFL draft. Even when the team picked a running back in Round 6, it chose 226-pound bruiser Ollie Gordon II over speedier backs still on the board.
While that was a departure from the Dolphins' recent m.o. of hunting for 4.3 speed, especially at the skill positions, it doesn't mean Miami ignored athleticism in its eight-player draft class.
Football analyst Kent Lee Platte has created a formula to calculate prospects' Relative Athletic Score -- measuring their size, strength, speed, and agility against other players at their position in the last four decades.
Here's what the RAS scores for the Dolphins' draft class look like:
Round 1, No. 13: Kenneth Grant, DL, Michigan
A footnote on Grant is that his testing scores are measured against all defensive tackles and not nose tackles, specifically. Platte believes if there was a delineation, it would've upped Grant's score.
Round 2, No. 37: Jonah Savaiinaea, OL, Arizona
Round 5, No. 143: Jordan Phillips, DL, Maryland
Round 5, No. 150: Jason Marshall Jr, CB, Florida

In the immediate aftermath of the Miami Dolphins' final regular season game of 2024, which resulted in the Florida-based franchise missing the playoffs, wide receiver Tyreek Hill made his stance on returning to the team as clear as can be. A move out of Miami has yet to materialize for Hill, who has not made any public statements about wanting to leave since January and attended the Dolphins' mandatory minicamp this week. Bleacher Report's Alex Kay believes that will not be the case by September, as he suggests the Dolphins' front office should field calls with that of the Arizona Cardinals. Kay predicts the Dolphins' return package will include two draft picks – a third- and fourth-rounder in 2026. The financial ramifications of the deal should be incentive enough for Miami to move Hill, Kay wrote. It would also free up nearly $15 million in immediate cap room," Kay wrote. "With the 'Phins sitting on just $14 million in available cap space — the sixth-lowest in the league — a breakup makes plenty of fiscal sense." Advertisement Kay likes the Cardinals as an ideal trade destination for Hill because it would provide them with a one-two punch at a position the team has not pursued aggressively in the draft or trade market so far this offseason. "The team is on the rise under head coach Jonathan Gannon, going from 4-13 in his first season to 8-9 last year. The receiving corps still needs a jolt, however, as Arizona avoided making any major splashes in free agency or the draft at the position," Kay wrote. "While the Cardinals have a foundational pass-catcher in Marvin Harrison Jr. to build around for the long haul, adding Hill would give quarterback Kyler Murray the weapons he needs to contend in wide-open NFC West races this coming year and over the next few seasons." Hill, who was named to the NFL's 2010s All-Decade Team, has put together a laundry list of accomplishments since his rookie season in 2016. He is a Super Bowl champion, a five-time First-Team All-Pro, and an eight-time Pro Bowler. Vikings CB Isaiah Rodgers embracing fresh start and preparing for bigger role in Minnesota
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Isaiah Rodgers missed the 2023 NFL season because of a gambling suspension. Last season, he won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, Minnesota's newest cornerback is getting ready for a bigger role. "Just enjoy the process while it's here," said Rodgers at mini-camp earlier this week. "Do whatever I can do to help the team win and bring a Lombardi to Minnesota." Rodgers may not have made as many national headlines when he signed with the Vikings this offseason. But if all goes according to plan, he'll be a starting cornerback and make a big impact this fall. At least that's what Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores wants. "He just wants me to be me," said Rodgers, of Flores. "That's one of the reasons why I came here. He just wants me to go out there and use my ball skills and use my knowledge to make plays." Rodgers, 27, will be paired with pro-bowler Byron Murphy. It's only been a few weeks, but the two corners have quickly become friends. "We play the game a lot," said Rodgers. "We ask each other about film. You know, how he sees this, how I see it. We switch from boundary to field. So we're just having fun with the scheme and figuring each other out." "I'd say that's my best friend already," said Murphy. "That's my dawg. Obviously just met him when he got here. But we're already playing games online, we got 2K, all those things. He's a great guy, great teammate. But that bond's already there." And it turns out that bond and their back-and-forth competition could result in a few more Vikings turnovers. Murphy had six interceptions last year, third best in the NFL. "A lot of plays on the ball. A lot of interceptions. He dropped a lot, though, "laughed Rodgers. "He's supposed to have at least 10-plus. So, just trying to get in that stat category with him and compete." "I dropped like five or six," smiled Murphy. "I don't know the exact number, but I gotta go make up for it this year for sure." Rodgers figures to factor in the return game, too. He has one career kickoff return for a touchdown so far, which happened in 2020. Along with many other Vikings, he took reps at that spot during OTAs and minicamp. WCCO asked Rodgers if he sees that being part of his job this season. "Anything to help the team. Just having fun out here. Enjoying the process too."
