A $1 million project is taking place downtown to update infrastructure.
Erie Water Works is replacing two water mains that are over 100 years old around the 300 block of State Street.

Crews are putting in a new pipe to replace the two and will be finished by the end of July.
'Water systems across the united states face infrastructure challenges and aging infrastructure so really thats one of our core challenges is how do we keep that infrastructure new and in shape so that we can support and fuel economic developement within the city of erie and just quality of life for our customers,' said Craig Palmer, CEO of Erie Water Works.
Spring into Swing book sale begins at Blasco Library
Palmer said they have installed an above-ground temporary water main to keep customers in that area in service.

TSA Pacific spokesperson Lorie Dankers told SFGate that the rumor of Costco cards being accepted as official identification pops up every year or so. When people try to use their warehouse club cards at airports, for instance, it could lead to delays and travel headaches, she added. Those who haven't gotten one yet may be scrambling to figure out what they need to do before booking their next trip. One thing is for certain: They should probably leave their Costco membership cards at home. Here are the acceptable forms of identification, according to the TSA, as well as some background on how the most recent version of the Costco card rumor originated. Food blog Chowhound claimed in the initial version of an article titled "How Your Costco Card Could Save You At The Airport," that people's Costco cards could pass through TSA because it is considered a photo ID. The article cited Reddit, where users claimed their warehouse club cards helped them through airport security when they forgot or lost their regular ID. On June 4, the day TSA debunked the rumor on social media, Chowhound issued an update to the article, saying, "A previous version of this article stated TSA is likely to accept a Costco membership card in lieu of a valid form of ID. TSA does not explicitly state you can use a Costco card as a form of identification, explaining, 'The TSA officer may ask you to complete an identity verification process which includes collecting information such as your name and current address to confirm your identity. If your identity is confirmed, you will be allowed to enter the screening checkpoint, where you may be subject to additional screening.'" The update concludes with: "Now with the Real ID requirements, (a Costco card) is even less likely to get you through TSA quickly or successfully." If someone tried using a Costco card at an airport, they would likely be pulled from the TSA checkpoint line for further questioning about other personal information, such as their two previous home addresses, Dankers told SFGate. Thousands in CT seeking a REAL ID. You'll have to wait to get one and it might be for a long time
Connecticut residents are scrambling to obtain a REAL ID several weeks after the May 7 deadline, with the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles inundated with customers and no appointment times available until June 17. 'Our staff is working tirelessly to keep up with the demand,' said Shaun Formica, director of communications for the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles. 'If you look at the numbers in the past couple of months we processed nearly 70,000 REAL ID transactions. We are more than doubling what we normally do.' Federal and local airport officials say the implementation of the REAL ID has gone smoothly. Even so, the demand to obtain a REAL ID may require longer wait times at the DMV, according to DMV officials. Formica said the DMV has opened on select Mondays, extended its hours and offered walk-in appointments to accommodate the increased demand during the months of April, May and June in which the DMV served more than 10,000 people. She added that residents who do not have a REAL ID but have plans to travel by air within the next 30 days can visit a DMV location for same day service. Residents who have an immediate need to register a vehicle may visit any DMV office Tuesday through Friday until 2 p.m., according to the DMV. Gary Pipkin, a Chester resident, said he bought a second vehicle several weeks ago and when there was an issue with the title, the seller was told that it could be fixed on the spot at the DMV. But there were no appointments available, he said. 'The sale has been delayed for weeks,' Pipkin said. 'She is sitting with a vehicle that she can't sell to me because she can't make an appointment.' He said he did not see online that there was a walk-in option. He added that he is concerned about anyone who might be living paycheck to paycheck and can't get an appointment to register a vehicle needed to drive to work and as a result the vehicle becomes impounded. Formica said she has received phone calls about appointments for REAL ID and has been able to get people in for walk-in appointments. 'If you are not traveling by air this month, it is not that pressing,' she said. She said the REAL ID has been in place in the state since 2011. 'We are doing our best to serve everyone,' she said. On May 7, travelers were required to present a REAL ID or a U.S. passport to board a domestic flight or access certain federal facilities, according to information from the DMV. The DMV states that without a REAL ID, residents may face delays or may be denied entry. In 2005, Congress passed the REAL ID Act 'to combat identity fraud and create a more secure verification standard for citizens,' according to the DMV. It is the federal standard for verifying one's ID. Formica said that AAA and Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union are also available to help residents with REAL ID upgrades and license renewals. Tracy Noble, manager of public and government affairs for AAA Club Alliance said in an email that 'AAA retail stores saw a dramatic increase in appointments for REAL ID in April and May as the May 7th deadline loomed and we are currently booking appointments in July,' Noble said. 'While we try to accommodate walk-in clients, volume remains high and we highly recommend an appointment as wait times may be significant if staffing allows.' Noble said appointments vary by location, with June appointments available dependent on the location. Daniel Velez, the New England spokesperson for the Transportation Security Administration, said REAL ID compliance has gone smoothly at Bradley International Airport with a 96.6% acceptable form of ID. 'Passengers who present a state-issued identification that is not REAL ID compliant at TSA checkpoints and who do not have another acceptable alternative form of ID will be notified of their non-compliance and may be directed to a separate area to receive additional screening,' Velez said. Velez said the maximum wait time at the airport security checkpoint was 14 minutes on May 28 and May 29 at Bradley International Airport.

Probe Gold awards engineering contracts for Novador project's pre-feasibility study
Probe Gold is advancing its Novador project in Canada with the awarding of all major engineering contracts for the pre-feasibility study (PFS), which is on track for completion by the end of 2025. The PFS is a critical step in assessing the project's viability and moving towards the feasibility study and permitting phase. Ausenco Engineering Canada has been appointed to lead the PFS, tasked with managing project timelines, milestones and deliverables. The company will provide technical expertise in infrastructure, metallurgy and processing, and is responsible for creating a detailed project execution plan, including capital and operational expenditure estimates. G Mining Services will handle the mining engineering aspects of the PFS, including the design and planning for both open-pit and underground operations, as well as the development of the mining execution strategy. Its work will encompass the necessary infrastructure and cost estimates related to mining activities. GHD is set to manage engineering related to tailings and water management infrastructures. Leveraging the company's ongoing work on the physical environment baseline studies, GHD will integrate its knowledge of the site and regulatory requirements into the design and solution selection process. The Novador project, spanning 202km², is home to four past-producing mines and 80% of Probe Gold's gold resources in Val-d'Or East. The project benefits from being located in a politically stable region with a history of low-cost mining operations, active producers and existing mills. In addition to these developments, Probe Gold completed the acquisition of the Bermont Claims adjacent to its Monique gold deposit from Gestion Jadmine in January. The $3m (C$4.12m) deal, which includes cash and shares, further solidifies the company's presence in Val-d'Or, Quebec, with additional payments contingent on resource confirmation. The transaction involved $1.5m in cash and the issuance of 894,432 shares at $1.677 each.
