Taylor Swift's ‘Life of a Showgirl' News Has Sabrina Carpenter, Caitlin Clark & More Stars ‘Freaking Out'
The 'Espresso' singer, who is featured on the title track of Swift's upcoming The Life of a Showgirl LP was understandably particularly pumped about the news. On her Instagram Story, Carpenter wrote, 'i know someone who's freaking out and it's me.'

Minaj simply reshared Swift's Instagram post about the album and typed a Sagittarius emoji — a nod to the two women's shared star sign — while Cardi hilariously posted a screenshot of Spongebob Squarepants breathing a sigh of relief on X. The 'WAP' artist is also gearing up to release an album, Am I the Drama?, on Sept. 19, and is likely resting easier knowing that she won't have to compete with the pop superstar for first-week streams.
The stars' reactions come shortly after Swift formally announced The Life of a Showgirl on Tuesday (Aug. 12), the day after which she shared more details about the full-length on boyfriend Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast. According to the hitmaker, the Max Martin- and Shellback-produced LP is full of 'bangers' and dives deep into what happened in her personal life 'behind the scenes' of her two-year Eras Tour, which wrapped in December.
Other famous friends who joined in on Swiftie excitement over the album news were Flavor Flav and Caitlin Clark, both of whom have been open about their love of the 14-time Grammy winner in the past. The Public Enemy rapper wrote on X, 'That's the Life of a Showgirl,!! TS12' and filled out New Heights' excuse form reading, 'Please excuse Flavor Flav from any responsibilities on Wednesday Aug. 12th at 7:00 p.m. ET. Don't blame me, but Taylor Swift will be appearing on the New Heights podcast.'
The WNBA superstar also definitely tuned into the podcast. After the episode's premiere on YouTube — which raked in a record 1.3 million live viewers — glitched and blacked out before it was finished, Clark wrote on X, 'Swifties so powerful we broke the internet.'
Other famous faces put their own spin on Swift's eye-popping Life of a Showgirl album cover, which shows the musician in a revealing bedazzled leotard while partially submerged in water. John Stamos, for one, photoshopped a picture of himself in Swift's place on the cover, writing on Instagram, 'big reputation.'
More celebrities showed their support for Swift by liking her post announcing the album on Instagram, including Selena Gomez, Gracie Abrams, Ice Spice, Maren Morris, Maggie Rogers and Jack Antonoff.
Those names are just a few of the countless Swifties who are bursting with excitement over the promise of new Taylor Swift music. Arriving Oct. 3, The Life of a Showgirl will mark her first album since 2024's The Tortured Poets Department, which spent 17 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
And while TTPD was more focused on poetry-style lyrics, Swift promised on New Heights that Showgirl will mark a return to the hookiness of some of her past hits. '[The album is] a lot more upbeat, and it's a lot more fun pop excitement,' she said on New Heights. 'My main goals were melodies that were so infectious, you're almost angry at it.'

Over the course of the last month, the governor and his social media team have become masters at trolling. Camille Zapata is the head of Newsom's press office and runs his @CAGovernor account, while director of communications Izzy Gardon and other members of the team run @GovPressOffice and @GavinNewsom, and all of them are well-versed in Internet memes and students of the way Trump likes to post. The social media posts have been so successful that they've managed to anger Republican politicians and even caused a Fox News host to crash out on air. After Newsom's office posted memes making fun of Vice President JD Vance and Trump supporter Kid Rock, and labeled Kristi Noem 'Commander Cosplay' and Tomi Lahren 'woke,' The Five host Dana Perino melted down and called on Newsom's wife to stop him. Democrats, on the other hand, have been cheering Newsom on by reposting his greatest hits, creating Trump-like AI memes of Newsom, while the media is busy creating best-of lists. The LGBTQ+ community is rightfully sick of Newsom after he called trans athletes competing in women's sports 'deeply unfair' in the debut episode of his podcast, but it's hard to deny that his tweet storm is having an impact on Republicans and MAGA voters. Newsom may be one of the only Democrats willing to fight fire with fire, and the internet is loving him for it! Newsom's press office making fun of Trump by mimicking the bizarre all-caps way he posts on Truth Social is a hilarious and clever way to dunk on the president. Calling his hands "tiny" and roasting him for needing "little baby stairs" to get into Air Force One is the icing on the cake. "Tiny hands" and "beta" are the perfect nicknames for a man obsessed with his own virility and masculinity. The internet spent a couple of days making fun of the way JD Vance runs, and Newsom joined in on the fun. Newsom's press office is getting eerily good at posting like Trump. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was another target for Newsom's ire, calling him "little man" while roasting Trump for his obsession with maps and calling him Donald "TACO" J. Trump. After Texas House Democrats broke quorum and fled the state for Illinois and California, Texas Senator Ted Cruz poked the bear by writing on X that they were probably off having dinner with Newsom "at the French Laundry." Cruz meant it as a powerful burn, but Newsom shot back by reminding everyone of the time Cruz fled Texas for Cancun while Texans were being devastated by a harsh winter storm. He has mastered the art of sarcasm. Either Newsom or his social media manager is as chronically online as the rest of us and is getting in on the FAFO trend. Sometimes all he needs to do is laugh at Trump. Newsom has been leading the charge, fighting against the Trump administration's use of ICE to enact their cruel immigration policies, including dunking on Donald Trump Jr. for being his dad's mouthpiece and starting a ridiculous wireless phone company. Newsom's whole social media team deserves a raise for this one! Using the "old man yells at clouds" meme to describe Fox News anchor Trace Gallagher will never not be hilarious. Newsom's press office posted a video montage of his back and forth with conservative political commentator Tomi Lahren, which included Newsom making fun of her by posting, "Tomi's account is basically Yelp for toilets now," with the caption "thoughts and prayers." Hilarious. Further proof that Newsom has hired funny, young, and chronically online people to run his press office. Talking down to Trump and throwing his own book (The Art of the Deal) back in his face will never not be funny. Superimposing Vance's face on the meme of Raygun doing a terrible "break dance" at the Olympics is the reason Photoshop was invented. Calling White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller "Voldemort's hand" and using Cards Against Humanity to say Newsom is hurting him? Chef's kiss. No notes. This Republican made the mistake of filming his anti-Newsom "rap" — we're being generous calling it that — with a cutout of the governor behind him so that it looks like Newsom is taking him from behind. Still, the role was almost someone else's, and as Hollywood tends to shuffle through the actors they want, and who's available, it makes sense. But the first choice is kind of a surprising one. Timothy Olyphant had appeared in several hit movies in the 90s, and was a rising star with a busy acting schedule when he was asked to star in The Fast and the Furious . He turned it down to take on other projects, and has gone on to star in many TV and film roles, but does he ever regret not taking the part that has gone on to produce paycheck after paycheck for Diesel? When asked just that by The Hollywood Reporter, Olyphant replied: 'The pitfall here is that it's very hard to answer that question without feeling like I'm offending somebody. So, if I start saying, 'No, it's never occurred to me,' or 'No, I've never seen those movies,' it just starts to sound like … ugh, let's say I didn't ever say that. I love those movies. I'm thrilled that they worked for everybody involved.' Well that was very diplomatic of him. It sounds like he's pointing to not feeling like he missed much, but insists he 'loves' those movies. I'm sure he is glad for the outcome, and for the success the actors involved have had. He's had his own success, and it's actually kind of weird to think of anyone but Diesel playing the part. It certainly seems to have all worked out for the best.
