How many players on LSU baseball also played on the 2023 College World Series team?
LSU baseball heads to Omaha for its second College World Series in the last three years. The Tigers take the field at Charles Schwab Stadium to face Arkansas on Saturday.
Eight Tigers were apart of the 2023 national championship game and return to Omaha for the second time. They'll look to lead the purple and gold to its eight title in program history.
Of the returning group, Josh Pearson made the biggest impact during the 2023 championship series against Florida. His over-the-shoulder catch in the bottom of the tenth inning for the second out prevented the Gators from advancing their runners, thus saving the game. LSU won the game 4-3 in 11 innings.
Jared Jones and Gavin Guidry both saw limited action during the Tigers' 2023 trip. Jones recorded an at-bat in each game against the Gators and had a hit in game three. Guidry pitched in the final two games. Through three innings of relief work, he allowed three runs on four hits and finished with four strikeouts. The right-hander sat out 2025 with an injury.
Relief pitcher Chase Shores was also sidelined with an injury during the 2023 championship run. Fellow hurlers Jaden Noot and DJ Primeaux were also rostered.
A regular starter on the current team, Ethan Frey made one plate appearance during the Florida championship series. Outfielder Mic Paul was also true freshman on the squad. He recently entered the transfer portal and isn't currently rostered.

Taylor Swift's Gesture in Oilers-Panthers Game Reflects Stanley Cup Final Madness
Taylor Swift's Gesture in Oilers-Panthers Game Reflects Stanley Cup Final Madness originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers on Thursday night may have delivered something Taylor Swift had never seen before. Advertisement Swift, who was in attendance at Amerant Bank Arena with Travis Kelce, witnessed the Oilers come back from a 3-0 first-period deficit against the Panthers. Then she saw the Oilers take the lead late in the third, lose it with under 20 seconds remaining, and win 5-4 in overtime to even the series. In a clip shared by Bleacher Report's B/R Open Ice account on X, Swift was visibly shaken after Florida tied the game with 19.5 seconds left, with the 14-time Grammy winner tapping her chest and saying something to Kelce. "My heart, it was like ...," Swift appeared to say while imitating her heart beating out of her chest. Advertisement It was a moment that perfectly captured another highly unpredictable game of playoff hockey. Game 4 began with another explosive start by Florida, which went three goals up in the first 20 minutes of play, including two power-play goals from Matthew Tkachuk and a even-strength tally by Anton Lundell. Edmonton looked rattled and changed goalies before the second period, putting in Calvin Pickard for Stuart Skinner. That move, which has happened in back-to-back games, reignited the Oilers and changed the outlook of the game. Advertisement Sam Reinhart's dramatic equalizer with 20 seconds left forced overtime for the third time in the finals. The Oilers' Leon Draisaitl rushed toward the net and tossed a one-handed shot that deflected off Panthers defenseman Nikko Mikkola for the winner 11:18 into the extra frame. Swift and Kelce are not expected to travel to Edmonton for Game 5 on Saturday. The series will return to Florida for Game 6 on Tuesday, and the Stanley Cup will be in the building. Oilers Coach Addresses Goalie Situation After Game 5 Decision Backfires
Oilers Coach Addresses Goalie Situation After Game 5 Decision Backfires originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Edmonton Oilers' goaltending situation remains unsettled heading into Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final following a decisive 5–2 loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 5. Advertisement After starting the younger Stuart Skinner in net for the first four games of the series, Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch opted to go with Calvin Pickard and his perfect 7-0 record in the playoffs leading up to Game 5, a decision that surely backfired as the series was tied 2-2. Asked after Saturday's loss about who will start Game 6, Knoblauch declined to confirm whether Pickard or Skinner will get the call in Tuesday's must-win game in Florida. "I'm not going to make that decision right now after a tough loss like tonight," Knoblauch said. Pickard surrendered four goals on 18 shots, marking his first loss of the postseason. Advertisement Knoblauch expanded on what went wrong on Saturday in Pickard's first start since the second-round matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights. "From what I saw, I think Picks didn't have much chance on those goals — breakaways, shots through screens, slot shots," Knoblauch said. "There's nothing saying that it was a poor performance." Edmonton Oilers goaltender Calvin Pickard (30) between plays against the Florida Panthers in game five of the 2025 Stanley Cup Belski-Imagn Images Florida capitalized early with goals by Brad Marchand and Sam Bennett in the first period, getting to a 3-0 lead 5:12 into the third period. Despite some pushback from Edmonton, including goals by Connor McDavid and Corey Perry, the Panthers closed out strong to take a 3–2 finals lead. Advertisement 'Knowing that we're in a difficult situation, win our last two games is something we're confident that we can do," Knoblauch said. "We've been through difficult situations before, and here's just another one that we'll overcome.' In order to win two games, the Oilers must start with a bounce-back victory in Game 6, scheduled for Tuesday in Sunrise, FL, with puck drop set at 8 p.m. ET.
