Where Auburn football stands in SEC recruiting rankings after Eric Perry's commitment
Auburn football landed the commitment of a three-star athlete on Thursday in Eric Perry.
Perry is the quarterback for DeSoto Central High School in Southaven, Mississippi. However, he will transition to running back once he arrives on campus next year. As a running quarterback, Perry rushed. for a team-leading 880 yards last season, rushing for over 100 yards six times, and scoring 11 touchdowns. Over his three-year high school career, Perry has rushed for 1,618 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Perry's pledge to Auburn delivered a shot in the arm to the program, which had not received a commitment since April 5 when Carver-Columbus offensive lineman Parker Pritchett committed to the Tigers. Auburn has a top-40 class according to 247Sports with eight commitments, four on offense and four on defense. Hugh Freeze has welcomed several talented 2026 prospects to campus for official visits this summer and will continue to bring in key targets as the season continues as they look to record another top-10 class.

ElliReese Niday continues to impress at American Cup
MORGANTOWN — Most 13-year-olds are at summer camp, on vacation or annoying their parents. But for ElliReese Niday, her summers look a lot different. It does revolve around cooling off in a pool, but it's not to play or keep occupied. Niday stood with her toes on the platform and her heels hanging off. Under her is a 30-foot-plus drop into water. Niday propelled herself up in the air, flipped and turned, hitting the water with minimal splash. Niday surfaced to a round of applause, and on the board, one of the highest scores. Niday, the 13-year-old, posted one of the highest scores on the 10-meter dive at the American Cup for Team USA at Peak Health Aquatic Center in Morgantown. She accomplished that feat against fellow U.S. divers hopeful to one day compete in the Olympics, but also against divers from countries such as South Korea, Australia, Egypt and Japan. This is Niday's fourth senior-level competition after sweeping the junior ranks. She's already secured first at one national event. Niday's a phenom. And she only started just a couple of years ago when she was seven. Her roots could've hinted at a potential future sensation. Niday's mother is former standout Tennessee diver Lauryn McCalley Niday, who was a five-time All-American. Team USA coach and Auburn diving coach John Fox met ElliReese at his diving club when she first started. He knew her mother's history and had an idea of what was to come. 'Her mom was an amazing diver,' Fox said. 'I had an inkling the first day, she was going to be a big talent.' A 13-year-old on the national level isn't normal. It is a lot to endure for a girl who is not even old enough to be interviewed. In Niday's case, it actually helps that she is so young. Niday doesn't feel too much pressure because she just enjoys diving, and the success is just a byproduct. 'She's a little girl and she really loves diving,' Fox said. 'That's what we focus on. The joy of competing. Of course, she's going to feel some pressure, but I think she loves applied pressure. She enjoys the competitive space, and I think that's a gift.' It's been a gift for Fox, too. He's never coached a girl this young at this caliber, and he's coached for over a decade. As much as Niday is learning how to navigate this level of competition, Fox is also learning how to coach someone this young and talented. 'It's a new thing for me,' Fox said. 'I can tell you that. I'm learning every day. It's really a joy of my life. It's a blessing.' After the prelims were over, the scores were shown on the board. At the top was ElliReese Niday. She came first, more than 40 points above second place. Niday looks to win another national event Saturday afternoon in the finals. Fox said Niday's routine will look similar to Thursday's. With the cap and goggles on and being so high up, you couldn't tell she was 13. After the scores were shown, you'd think she's a veteran. Nope, Niday is just a 13-year-old spending her summer vacation in a different way than the average middle schooler. Niday's goals are the same, though, to have fun. 'I think the goals for her this weekend are just to execute each dive, one at a time, in a way that we can look at it and know that she did everything she could to finish the dive,' Fox said. 'Give her best effort and put our best foot forward on the senior international circuit.'

Beyond Wisconsin, Taylor's official visits included West Virginia, Texas Tech, Pitt, and Houston. He ultimately chose the Badgers over the other four programs. The newest Wisconsin commit announced his pledge to the Badgers via his social media. With a background as a multi-sport athlete that includes track and soccer, Taylor's athleticism has the Wisconsin football staff extremely excited, and they anticipate he'll develop into a standout player. Advertisement He is a versatile player who has played both cornerback and safety in high school. Although he is listed as a cornerback on 247Sports, the Wisconsin staff views him as a safety. Zachary Taylor in the Recruiting Rankings Though currently rated as a 3-star prospect by major recruiting services, Taylor is a perfect example of the type of player whose ranking could significantly improve, possibly reaching 4-star status by the end of his senior year. But as of right now, here is where he falls on the major recruiting websites. 247Sports 247Sports probably has the highest rating on Taylor, albeit as a cornerback. But a rating of 89 is a borderline 4-star player on its rating scale. The 247Sports Composite has him as the 439th-overall player in the country and the 43rd-ranked cornerback. Advertisement Rivals Similar to 247Sports, Rivals has Taylor as a borderline 4-star player. Their 5.7 rating for the new Wisconsin football commit is the highest rating a 3-star prospect can get before hitting 5.8, which would give him a fourth star. The recruiting site does not have him in any national, state, or positional rankings. On3 On3 is the site lowest on Taylor. They have him as a 3-star prospect as well and a rating of just 85.95. 3-star prospects fall in the 80-89 range. They have him as the 926th-overall prospect in the 2026 class and the 83rd-ranked safety. Where the Wisconsin Football Recruiting Class Stands With the Addition of Taylor Zachary Taylor's commitment pushed the 2026 class to 12 players for the Wisconsin football program. The addition of Taylor gives the Badgers a nice little boost, pushing them from 40th to 33rd in the 247Sports Team Rankings as it currently stands. Advertisement Taylor also becomes the Bagders' top-ranked player in the class according to the 247Sports rankings. With just 12 committed players, the Wisconsin football team still has plenty of work to do in filling out the rest of this class. 4-star running back Amari Latimer is a top target for the team, and there are still a few targets at wide receiver, including Jayden Petit, Zachary Washington, and Zion Legree. Recruiting may have slowed down a bit, but there are still things coming in the near future.
