Sooners earn prediction for 2026 Linebacker Beau Jandreau
The Oklahoma Sooners earned their first defensive commitment of the 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday night, earning a pledge from safety Niko Jandreau out of Chandler, Arizona. But that might not be the only Hamilton High product to wear the crimson and cream in the future.
The Sooners are also pursuing Niko's twin brother, three-star linebacker Beau Jandreau. On Tuesday night, Parker Thune of OUInsider and Rivals issued a Futurecast favoring OU.
According to 247Sports, Beau Jandreau holds offers from Oklahoma, USC, Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Cal, Kansas State, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Notre Dame.
Much like his brother Niko, Beau plays fast, and he plays the linebacker position with physicality. He doesn't just play to the man, he plays through the man, arriving to the ball carrier with force. Beau does a great job reading the play and reacting to with confidence and speed to get to the football. He can line up at both middle and weakside linebacker spots. With his speed and adept understanding of coverage, he could be an option at cheetah as well.
Linebacker is a key spot for the Sooners in the 2026 recruiting cycle with the possibility that Kobie McKinzie, Kip Lewis, Kendal Daniels, and Kendal Dolby all leaving after the 2025 season. Brent Venables, Nate Dreiling, and Wes Goodwin have to stack talent in this class to help reload the position for the Sooners.

Kovac: 'We witnessed a classic tonight'

Niko Kovac (on ARD1): "We witnessed a classic tonight: a cup battle played in a great atmosphere. At the end of the day, it's all about getting through to the next round, and we did that. We did well in the first 20 minutes, but then it got wild. And that played into Essen's hands. In the second half, Essen didn't create any chances on our goal. But we didn't create much either. At the end of the day, you need players who can make the difference. After very little preseason preparations, it's good that we've progressed. We still have some work to do now to get to where other teams are." Julian Brandt (on ARD1): "It was a frantic game that we didn't have under control at times. There was a lot of back and forth. Ultimately, we got the job done. The most important thing was to win the game. That's what makes me happy at the end of the day. We benefited a lot from him (Serhou Guirassy, ed.) and his goals last year. He's an important player. He does everything right in that situation. It speaks volumes of him to land a winning punch like that." (br) Further reactions to follow.

Why Hugh Freeze is 'really pleased' with Auburn football QB Jackson Arnold so far

AUBURN — Hugh Freeze had two words when asked Wednesday about Oklahoma transfer quarterback Jackson Arnold's performance in the early going of Auburn football's 2025 preseason camp: "Really pleased." Ultimately, Freeze had more than a phrase to share when it came to Arnold's offseason efforts, but he didn't hold back the little scrutiny he had of his first-year passer. "Met with him (Arnold) yesterday and the quarterback coaches. It's sad but true, but I get to go into the rooms and only talk about the bad stuff," Freeze said. "I know they get it, but I get paid to try to fix the stuff we're not doing well. That's usually the only time I have, is to go from room-to-room and say, 'We have to get this fixed.' "There's not a lot. He's a little greedy in the RPO game a little bit. I think we can get that corrected pretty simply. I don't think he did that today after yesterday's meeting. I don't remember a single one he tried to force and make something happen." Arnold, a former consensus five-star prospect, was Oklahoma's starter heading into 2024, though he played 10 games. Despite a mid-season benching, Arnold threw for 1,421 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was impactful on the ground, too, with another 444 yards and three scores. "I'm really pleased with his decision making," Freeze said. "The ball is coming out quick, and I think he's using his legs when he doesn't feel comfortable with what he sees and creating. Again, everything's not a team period, but he's creating explosive plays when he does move out of the pocket. He throws really well on the run. To this point, I'm really pleased with where he's at." Rodon has battled some control problems since the All-Star break. Both clubs have played in a lot of 1-run games. A RAYS +1.5 (-145) play is the value side here. Over/Under Tampa Bay does struggle against lefty pitching. Mix in some contrarian lean toward Baz, an inward breeze in the weather forecast and a pair of rested bullpens.
