The top wide receiver in the draft, Tetairoa McMillan, flashed during his short time in the game, catching two passes for 43 yards. He displayed his big play ability on a contested sideline catch downfield. The Arizona product looks like a star in the making. C.J. Stroud did see the field for Houston last week, but the third-year quarterback is looking to bounce back in a big way this season. After setting the league on fire as a rookie, he took a step back in nearly every statistical category. While the Texans were still a solid team last year, they will need Stroud to play like a star to get back into Super Bowl contention. This is a great NFL matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action. Texans vs Panthers live updates, score: Highlights, predictions for preseason Week 2
The Houston Texans, headlined by a slew of new rookies, including Tay Ersery at offensive tackle and Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel at wide receiver, will debut in front of the hometown fans at NRG Stadium in a preseason showdown on Saturday afternoon against the Carolina Panthers. Starters for the Panthers are projected to play for at least one drive in Saturday's contest. Headlined by former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young, Carolina's offense looks to be the backbone of the franchise in Year 3. They made immense strides during Houston's joint practice on Thursday, with Young making several highlight throws. As for who's starting on Houston's side, coach DeMeco Ryans mentioned that the younger starters would see action. That means that rookie Earsery, the projected starting right tackle, Noel, who's fighting for first-team reps in the slot, and Higgins, the newest name on the outside, are expected to see action. As for everyone else? "Everybody's kind of on their own plan," Ryans said last week. "We'll have a handful of guys who won't see time at all. Then we'll have a certain group of guys who are limited. So, it's just a lot of different guys in different categories there." There is still plenty to watch for with Stroud, Will Anderson Jr. and a swarm of other top names on offense. Texans Wire will have you up to date on everything that happens this afternoon at NRG Stadium. Watch Texans vs. Panthers on Fubo (free trial) The Texans and Panthers will air live on NFL Network, but it will also air locally on ABC 13 in Houston. It's been announced that Bryce Young, the 2023 No. 1 overall pick, will start for Carolina and will likely play the entire first half of the game. For the Texans, only partial starters will see action, so fans should expect to see C.J. Stroud, Nick Chubb, Danielle Hunter, Nico Collins or others on the field in Houston at NRG Stadium. In addition to airing live on NFL Network and the aforementioned channels, the Texans-Panthers game will also re-air on NFL Network on Sunday at 10 p.m. CT. The NFL Network will re-air the game one final time on Friday, August 23, at 11 a.m. CT. Additionally, out-of-market fans can stream the game live on NFL+. Texans vs. Panthers start time Kickoff for the Texans' preseason opener against the Vikings is scheduled for Noon CT, as the two sides gather at NRG Stadium for the showdown between former Kyle Shanahan assistants. Do not expect many of the Texans' starters to get reps in this one since DeMeco Ryans usually prefers to have his starters see reps in the joint practices that begin on Thursday against the Detroit Lions out in Allen Park. Streaming options for the game include the NFL Network and Fubo, which offers a free trial. Texans tickets Looking to buy Houston Texans tickets? We've got you covered.
