Maya Jama reveals Ruben Dias' staggering trophy cabinet

Yahoo17 hours ago
Manchester City vice-captain Ruben Dias has seen his remarkable trophy cabinet unveiled on Instagram by girlfriend Maya Jama.
The Portugal international has become one of the most decorated defenders in European football since joining Manchester City in the summer of 2020, playing a vital role in the club's era of dominance under Pep Guardiola.
From Premier League titles to UEFA Champions League glory, Dias has built an impressive personal collection of silverware, and fans have now been given a rare look inside his home trophy display thanks to a casual post from his high-profile partner.
Since confirming their relationship earlier this year, Maya Jama and Ruben Dias have become one of football's most talked-about celebrity couples. Jama – a widely recognised figure in British television – has frequently been spotted attending City matches and supporting Dias both publicly and privately.
But her latest Instagram story may have given Manchester City fans their favourite glimpse yet behind the scenes of the club's elite inner circle. With Dias widely regarded as a key figure in Pep Guardiola's leadership group, it comes as no surprise that his domestic success is matched by an equally commanding home tribute to his achievements.
Now, thanks to Jama's post, supporters have been able to marvel at the stunning collection amassed by one of City's most consistent performers.
Posing for a selfie upload to her Instagram story on Thursday, the television presenter and partner of the Manchester City defender showcased the remarkable haul of honours placed in a position of pride within Dias' city centre apartment.
Dias' trophy cabinet includes four consecutive Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League winners' medal, an FA Cup triumph, and a host of individual accolades, including Manchester City's Player of the Season for 2020/21 and a UEFA Champions League Team of the Season inclusion.
His role in City's historic treble-winning campaign during the 2022/23 season arguably remains the standout moment of his career thus far. While the trophy cabinet may be located in a private residence, the display is symbolic of Dias' leadership and winning mentality – a trait that Pep Guardiola and his staff have repeatedly praised.
His on-field presence, vocal authority, and willingness to guide younger teammates like Josko Gvardiol and Vitor Reis highlight why he continues to be one of the squad's most respected senior figures.
As Manchester City prepare to embark on a new campaign with aspirations of reclaiming the Premier League and making another push for Champions League success, Ruben Dias' influence will again be critical. He remains one of the club's fittest and most dependable players, often available when others around him are battling injury setbacks.

Kelly Clarkson, Brandon Blackstock and why grieving an ex can be so complicated

Grief is complicated. When the person you're grieving is an ex-partner or someone you had an otherwise difficult relationship with, it can be even more complicated. Right now, Kelly Clarkson is dealing with the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. She and Blackstock, who share two children, made headlines over the years for their acrimonious divorce. In an interview with USA TODAY in 2023, Clarkson described the anger she felt from their split. On Wednesday, Aug., 6, Clarkson announced she'd be stepping away from her Las Vegas residency amid Blackstock's illness. The next day, Blackstock's family released a statement announcing he died at age 48 after having "bravely battled cancer for more than three years." Mental health experts say this news is an important reminder about the complex nature of grief. When someone you had a bad falling out with dies, it's crucial to understand that contradictory feelings are normal − and people's experiences are going to vary. "You can hold two ideas at the same time," psychotherapist Stephanie Sarkis says. "One is, 'The way they treated me was not OK.' And also, 'I can feel sad for my kids that their father died at such a young age.' You could even feel sad because I wish he would've been a different person." Kelly Clarkson and grieving someone who caused you pain Blackstock was the first-ever "American Idol" winner's longtime manager. The two tied the knot in October 2013 and finalized their divorce in March 2022. The details of their divorce repeatedly made headlines until its settlement. Clarkson was awarded primary custody of their children − daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remy Alexander, 9 − in November 2020. Blackstock also had another son Seth and daughter Savannah. In 2023, Clarkson addressed her divorce from Blackstock in an interview with USA TODAY, speaking about her "anger" stemming from their split. "I was very, very angry. I know a lot of people have gone through grief or a big tragedy like a divorce, and I know it's a common thing, unfortunately," Clarkson said. "But there's nothing common when you're going through it." More: Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband, dead at 48 after cancer battle She added: "It's very foreign. It's horrible. A lot of time stupid, stupid (stuff) gets said, and you just can't believe it. I was angry and really hurt." On Wednesday, Aug. 6, Clarkson released a statement on Instagram announcing she'd be stepping away from her Vegas residency amid Blackstock's illness. "While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them," she wrote about her Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. In the spring, the "Since U Been Gone" singer was also absent intermittently from "The Kelly Clarkson Show," though she didn't explain her absence in detail. More: Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock battled cancer for years before death at 48 While grieving an ex-partner and co-parent, Sarkis recommends asking yourself: "What's the best way I can help my kids through this, while still acknowledging that this person did not treat me the way that I should have been treated?" The shock of grief When someone dies unexpectedly, their loved ones' world shifts. Without warning. Without time to process. What's left is substantial trauma. Furthermore, behaviors around grief vary among individuals, communities and within family units. "How people grieve is influenced by the relationship they had with the person they lost, also what our religion taught us, what our culture taught us and what our family taught us," grief expert David Kessler previously told USA TODAY. More: TV news anchor Ana Orsini, 28, and the trauma of a sudden death Shavonne Moore-Lobban previously told USA TODAY: "Youth and adults grieve differently based on the resources and developmental abilities that they each have. There are also gender-role stereotypes that impact people's understanding of how they are 'allowed' or expected to grieve and show emotion, based on what has been deemed 'acceptable' in society." Regret is another powerful emotion that often accompanies grief. "Even when the last interaction was positive, there can be regret that the last interaction may feel incomplete," Moore-Lobban said. "Of course, there can also be sadness and anger as a response to sudden loss. Both of those can be connected to a need to make sense of something that may feel nonsensical." A parent's guide to 'Freakier Friday': Is it suitable for young kids?

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis' body-swapping shenanigans were a seminal movie moment for young film fans in the early 2000s, and the actresses are back to entertain another generation with more freaky hijinks. Rocker girl Anna (Lohan) and her psychiatrist mom Tess (Curtis) first switched places in 2003's "Freaky Friday." It happens again – this time alongside a couple of teen girls, Anna's daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and soon-to-be stepkid Lily (Sophia Hammons) – in director Nisha Ganatra's fantasy comedy sequel "Freaker Friday" (in theaters now). It is a Disney movie, so wholesomeness abounds, but is it actually for kids of all ages? Here's what parents need to know about "Freakier Friday" going in: Join our Watch Party! Sign up to receive USA TODAY's movie and TV recommendations right in your inbox What is 'Freakier Friday' about? The new "Friday" runs back a bit of the plot from the original, where Anna and Tess swap bodies on the eve of the mom's wedding and better understand each other's lives. The sequel finds single mother Anna engaged to likable British chef Eric (Manny Jacinto) after just six months of dating, and surfer girl Harper and Eric's somewhat snooty daughter Lily don't get along at all. After a visit with an oddball fortune teller (Vanessa Bayer) during the bachelorette party, Anna switches with Harper while Tess ends up in Lily's body (and vice versa). While mother and daughter venture off on scooters to find the psychic – plus enjoy the metabolism and flexibility of having young bodies – the girls do their darnedest to try and ruin the wedding so they don't have to be stepsisters. What is the age rating of 'Freakier Friday'? "Freakier Friday" is rated PG by the Motion Picture Association "for thematic elements, rude humor, language and some suggestive references." But nothing's too extreme or scandalous, really. There's some singing of the Chumbawamba song "Tubthumping" that's got a slightly saucy word in the lyrics, though your kids might already know that from TikTok. Anna's old flame Jake (Chad Michael Murray) shows up, and Harper-as-Anna tries to come on to him in the most awkward way possible, though akin to The Outfield, Jake likes his girls a little bit older and hits on Lily-as-Tess. Is 'Freakier Friday' appropriate for kids? The first "Friday" was very much geared toward teens and tweens, and the same goes for the sequel. The main kid characters are teens navigating their parents getting remarried, so older children will be able to wrap their heads around that and are more apt to find that Anna's old band, Pink Slip, still slaps. "Freakier" is mostly fine for younger audiences; they just might find a lot of the serious convos and deeper family/parenting themes (plus one trip to the DMV) boring. That said, little kids often look up to their teen and tween siblings, so it might be a chance for some bonding time. The music is pretty cool and there are plenty of goofy moments that will appeal to little ones, like an epic schoolyard food fight, Tess testing out a lip plumper, and she and Anna doing highway jumps in Jake's sweet Camaro. Is there a 'Freakier Friday' popcorn bucket and cup? Yes! Popcorn buckets are all the rage these days with big theatrical releases, and the one for "Freakier Friday" really leans into the movie's body-swap theme. Marcus Theatres, a chain of cinemas with locations in 17 states, is selling collectible popcorn buckets and drink cups with swappable covers. So the popcorn bucket can be used for soda and the soda cup can be used for popcorn. Most Marcus locations have the items for sale now. (Here's a list of showtimes and locations on the chain's website.) They're not as cool as that gigantic light-up Galactus popcorn bucket, but certainly your kids might have some fun with them. Where can I watch 'Freakier Friday'? The "freakquel" is in theaters, and because of the high anticipation going in, it might be there for a while with no other major kid-friendly releases coming to cinemas soon. That means those hoping to stream it at home will have to wait a tick. If the movie follows a similar path as the recent Disney release "Lilo & Stitch," "Freakier Friday" will likely be available on demand in early to mid-October and on Disney+ in November.
