Iran Ready To End Attacks If Israel Halts Assault
TEHRAN, June 15 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that Iran is ready to halt its attacks on Israel if Tel Aviv ends its assault on Tehran, Anadolu Ajansi reported.
Speaking to foreign ambassadors in Tehran, Araghchi emphasised that the war was 'imposed' on Tehran and that Iran was left with no choice but to respond.
'Our defence is fully legitimate and will be carried out with strength, solely in response to aggression,' he said.

UN makes brutal cuts to humanitarian aid as funding crisis deepens
GENEVA (Bernama-dpa): The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Monday it has been forced to cancel planned aid for millions of people due to severe funding shortfalls, calling the move "brutal," German Press Agency (dpa) reported). Never before has funding for humanitarian relief declined so sharply, the agency said. "We have been forced into a triage of human survival," said Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher in a statement. "The math is cruel, and the consequences are heartbreaking. Too many people will not get the support they need, but we will save as many lives as we can with the resources we are given." Not only has the United States drastically slashed foreign aid and severed ties with several UN bodies, but a number of other countries have also made deep cuts to their international assistance budgets. In December, OCHA had hoped to raise US$44 billion for global humanitarian efforts in 2024. That target has now been revised down to US$29 billion - and even that amount is far from certain. As of June, only US$5.6 billion had been received. The revised plan would allow aid to reach just 114 million people, down from the original goal of 180 million - and only if the reduced funding target is met, OCHA warned. The agency did not specify which donor countries had cut their budgets, but stressed that wherever possible, the most vulnerable people across all countries with OCHA operations would continue to receive assistance. "Brutal funding cuts leave us with brutal choices,' Fletcher said. "All we ask is 1 per cent of what you chose to spend last year on war. But this isn't just an appeal for money - it's a call for global responsibility, for human solidarity, for a commitment to end the suffering." --BERNAMA-dpa

Iran hangs man convicted of spying for Israel amid air war
TEHRAN: Iran's judiciary said Monday it hanged a man arrested in 2023 and convicted of being a spy for Israel's Mossad intelligence agency, as fighting raged between the two foes. "Esmaeil Fekri, a Mossad agent convicted of the capital offences of 'corruption on Earth' and 'moharebeh' (waging war against God) was hanged after going through the full process of criminal procedure," the judiciary's Mizan Online news website said. Mizan said the execution was carried out after all legal procedures were completed and the verdict was upheld by the supreme court. On Monday, Iran's chief justice Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei vowed swift trials for people arrested on suspicion of collaborating with Israel. "If someone is arrested for having ties to and collaborating with the Zionist regime, their trial and punishment should be carried out and announced very quickly, in accordance with the law and given the war conditions," Ejei said, quoted by Tasnim news agency. On Sunday, Iranian media reported that police in Alborz province, west of Tehran, had arrested two people suspected of links to the Mossad. Later on the same day, Israel said it had arrested two citizens suspected of working for Iran's intelligence services. After decades of enmity and a prolonged shadow war, Israel on Friday launched a surprise attack, saying it was targeting Iran's nuclear and military facilities. So far it has killed at least 224 people in the Islamic republic, including top military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians. Iran has retaliated with barrages of drone and missiles that have killed at least 24 people in Israel, according to the latest figures from the prime minister's office. Iran does not recognise Israel and has long accused it of carrying out sabotage operations against its nuclear facilities, as well as assassinating its scientists. — AFP
