Iconic '80s Rocker Reveals Ghost of Eddie Van Halen Visited Him in His Hotel Room

Iconic '80s Rocker Reveals Ghost of Eddie Van Halen Visited Him in His Hotel Room originally appeared on Parade. It's not every day a rock legend says he shared a cigarette with the ghost of Eddie Van Halen. During David Lee Roth's Wednesday, August 13, show in Hampton Beach, NH, the legendary Van Halen frontman claimed he was recently visited by the ghost of Van Halen himself — though not in quite the same way his former bandmate, Sammy Hagar, once described. Back in 2022, Hagar shared with UCR that Van Halen had appeared to him in a dream, even gifting him a guitar riff. 'I remembered it. I got up in the morning and I wrote the song. I used the f**kin' lick that he showed me in the song,' Hagar said at the time. That riff eventually became part of the track 'Encore, Thank You, Goodnight,' released nearly three years later. RELATED: Iconic '80s Rocker's Guitar Expected to Sell at Auction for Over $2 Million Roth, meanwhile, couldn't resist putting his own spin on the story. 'One of my esteemed colleagues, he's a contemporary, he's got a great voice, he's got a great catalog. You all know Sammy Hagar, right? He's got a great voice,' Roth, 70, told the crowd before recalling Hagar's ghostly tale. Then came his punchline: 'I don't know what the odds are, but last night the ghost of Eddie Van Halen visited me at the f**king hotel room. I was watching the weather report and he came in and he was laughing. His f**king ghost was laughing.' According to Roth, Van Halen told him the riff Hagar believed was a divine gift was actually just Iron Butterfly's 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida' played backward. The bit drew laughter from the audience as Roth delivered it in the middle of performing 'Dance the Night Away.' But the moment ended on a more heartfelt note. Roth said he and Van Halen's ghost shared a cigarette, and he confessed, 'Man, do I f**king miss you.' Van Halen, he claimed, replied, 'I miss you too, Dave. But you know what? You should still go to hell.' Roth quipped back: 'Save me a seat.' How Catherine Zeta-Jones Feels About Husband Michael Douglas' Retirement Plans

How Catherine Zeta-Jones Feels About Husband Michael Douglas' Retirement Plans originally appeared on Parade. Catherine Zeta-Jones has some thoughts before her husband officially calls it quits in Hollywood. The Academy Award-winning actress, 55, opened up about Michael Douglas' decorated career in a new interview with The Sunday Times amid the his past comments about how he has no real intentions again and that he just likes "to watch my wife work." "Michael has definitely earned the chance to slow down. But I never say never," Zeta-Jones said in the interview published Saturday, Aug. 16. "He's his father's son and loves to work — let's just say, 'retirement' is a flexible concept." The celebrated Welsh performer won Oscar gold for Chicago (2002), and Douglas, 80, has won two trophies himself : one as a producer of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and one as Best Actor in a Leading Role for Wall Street (1987). The Times calls Douglas "Hollywood royalty," being the offspring of the late Tinseltown icon Kirk Douglas, who died in 2020 at age 103. "He was a flirty little thing," Zeta-Jones told the publication about Kirk. "He was wonderful and he was very fond of me, as I was of him. I miss him. They [Kirk and his wife, Anne] left a philanthropic legacy that was way beyond movies." Whether Michael does slow down on the big screen or not, he and Zeta-Jones can both agree that he'll be playing a lot of golf going forward, The Times reports. Zeta-Jones has her own way of relaxing: homemaking, specifically organizing and stocking her numerous wardrobes. "I go to all the vintage stores in Paris. I buy things that you are probably never going to wear, like a gorgeous cape, just great pieces," the Wednesday star told The Times. "I am loving classic Yves Saint Laurent at the moment. I get excited about evening dresses. For me, a pair of jeans is a pair of jeans. Spending £200 on a white T-shirt? Nah. But when it comes to couture, beautiful beading, the artistry… I love the theatre of fashion." Mark Hamill gave wife option of two countries they could move to when Trump was re-elected

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill has revealed he planned to leave the United States when Donald Trump was re-elected as president in 2024. The 73-year-old, known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the iconic sci-fi franchise, gave his wife Marilou Tork – whom he married in 1978 – the choice between relocating to 'London or Ireland'. Hamill's wife, who worked as a dental hygienist and met Hamill while cleaning his teeth, ingeniously convinced her husband not to move countries by suggesting Trump was pushing them out of the US. 'She's very clever. She didn't respond right away but a week later she said, 'I'm surprised you would allow him to force you out of your own country,'' Hamill, a lifelong Democrat, told The Times. ''That son of a b****', I thought. I'm not leaving.' When asked about the political landscape in the United States, Hamill expressed exasperation over 'the bullying, the incompetence, the people in place' in the Trump administration. The actor added that the only way he could 'deal' with the his country's politics without becoming suicidal was to look at the situation 'like a thick, sprawling political novel' instead of reality. Despite his horror, Hamill added that he 'still believes' there are 'more honest, decent people' in the country than there are those in a Maga crowd. 'If I didn't, I'd move back to England,' he said. Elsewhere in the interview, Hamill revealed his dislike of US gun culture is such that he almost didn't accept his role in a forthcoming adaptation of Stephen King's horror novel The Long Walk. Hamill will play The Major, a man who runs an annual walking contest in a dystopian version of America that sees 100 young men walk continuously at a pace of four miles an hour – or they'll be shot to death. 'Francis Lawrence, the director, understood what was troubling me,' he said of his initial reluctance to take on the role. 'American society is gun violence and it's hard to get past that, but as I spoke to him I realised this is just the guy. He said he would have been surprised if I wasn't troubled by it.' The actor went on to compare the film to recent ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] arrests in the country, saying agents wearing masks, with no identification, had been 'pulling people out of their cars'. 'They were just brutalising people, kneeling on their necks,' he said. 'When I made the movie I wasn't thinking in terms of it being timely but it's proven to be just that.' Hamill led the three original Star Wars movies – Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983) – as Luke Skywalker alongside Carrie Fisher as Princess Leira and Harrison Ford as Han Solo. He reprised the role in all three films of the sequel trilogy: The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019), as well as in numerous TV spin offs, including The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian.
