'I can tell this story, because spoiler alert, he's not dead,' explained Ugo Monye.

Former England international Ugo Monye has revealed Andy Powell once "thought he was going to die" after a night out on a British and Irish Lions tour. The former Harlequins flyer told the tale on talkSPORT, with hosts Darren Bent and Andy Goldstein cracking up.

Powell and Monye were teammates on the 2009 Lions tour to South Africa, where the touring side lost 2-1 to the Springboks. Despite going 2-0 down, Sir Ian McGeechan's side were victorious in the third and final match, winning 28-9. Two tries from Shane Williams and one from Monye himself helped seal the win.

A plethora of Welsh players were on that tour, much different to the 2025 edition, which featured only two Welshmen in the initial squad.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Monye revealed that ex-Cardiff star Powell got himself into a right pickle during their celebrations.
"I shared a room with a guy called Andy Powell," began Monye, before telling the tale of Powell's golf buggy trip down the M4 to the hosts.
"Were you nervous about going to sleep?," asked Goldstein. "100%," replied Monye.

"I remember on the night of the third Test, we'd just won and it was a brilliant night.
"He was just as committed on the pitch as he was to the social side. Everyone knows that Super Sunday is better than Super Saturday.
"Generally, before a game you would have a caffeine tablet to get yourself revved up and motivated. He took four of these after the game because he wanted to go through the night.

"So, he had had four caffeine tablets, a bucket load of Red Bulls, and then we got into bed at around three or four.
"0.3 seconds later he sat bolt upright, because shock horror, he is having heart palpitations.
"I can tell this story, because spoiler alert, he's not dead.

"So, he woke up, having heart palpitations, I'm not in a fit state to manage him and I'm also not a doctor. So I've left the room to try and find our team doctor who was, funnily enough, asleep. There was no one around. I was frightened.
"I go back into the room to not even consider what state he might be in. He's sat on the toilet with his phone in his hand, and his screensaver of his dog. And I was like: 'What are you doing?'
"He was saying goodbye to his dog because he thought he was going to die."

"I just wonder what the stories you can't tell are," joked Goldstein, before all three cracked up.
In the game itself, it was Monye who crossed for a try, with Wales legend Shane Williams grabbing a brace.
Other Welsh internationals in the squad that day were Stephen Jones, Mike Phillips, Matthew Rees, Martyn Williams, Alun Wyn Jones and James Hook, although the latter did not come off the bench.

Martin Odegaard responds to Arsenal legend who told Mikel Arteta he shouldn't be captain

Arsenal legend Tony Adams made headlines this week by telling Gunners boss Mikel Arteta to strip Martin Odegaard of the captaincy and give the armband to Declan Rice Martin Odegaard has staunchly defended his role as Arsenal captain after stinging criticism from Tony Adams. Club legend Adams took aim at Odegaard, 26, by claiming that the Gunners won't win the Premier League title so long as he's captain. ‌ The former Arsenal skipper urged Mikel Arteta to give the armband to team-mate Declan Rice, suggesting that the change would allow Odegaard to play with more freedom. But Adams won't get his way after the squad overwhelming voted for the Norwegian to remain as captain for the 2025-26 season. ‌ Now Odegaard has responded to Adams in an interview ahead of Sunday's curtain-raiser away to Manchester United. Asked about his style of leadership, the midfielder explained to Sky Sports: "It's a lot to be fair. It's a lot of small things. It's hard to describe it, it's more like a constant role you do. ‌ "There's always these small things you have to do. In general it's just how I see it is to get the best out of the team and how to give the team the right mindset. Help the players around you, get the best mindset in everyone. "I think before the game just on the pitch I do a little one (team talk) and inside the dressing room we have different people talking. It's not just me there's a lot of people sharing the responsibility and the manager does a lot as well. It's a shared thing. It's not just me all the time." Adams admitted during an event for Irish Independent that Odegaard wasn't his 'kind' of captain. "The call is to make Declan Rice the captain," the ex-Gunners defender began in a plea to Arteta. "I think Declan is my kind of captain, and it might free Odegaard up to play with a bit more freedom. Every now and again as a manager, you have to put someone who reflects you, who reflects the football club that you think can actually take you to the next level. "He (Arteta) has got an opportunity this year to actually turn into a winner. To win league titles, you have to be a [Jurgen] Klopp, you have to be a [Sir Alex] Ferguson. You have to lead by example, you have to be a winner, you have to go about your business. And that reflects in your captain. ‌ "And I'm seeing Declan Rice as a captain but I'm saying to Arteta: Come on, step up now. It's your time to be a winning manager and a fantastic manager, because you're not going to win the league with Odegaard as captain." Arteta, though, believes that there's 'no question' that Odegaard should be captain. "Well my opinion is clear and it's not just my opinion, it's all the staff and especially the players." the Gunners boss explained. ‌ "I asked them to vote the captain and I got the result yesterday. And by a mile, by a big, big 100 miles, everybody choosing the same person, which is Martin Odegaard, and which is the most clear sign that you can have. "It's how they feel about who has to be their captain to defend, improve and win the matches that we want to win. So I think there's no question about that."

Rhian Sugden undergoes 'life-changing' surgery as boobs left her in complete agony

Former Page 3 model Rhian Sugden spent £10,000 on breast reduction surgery to ease the constant pain caused by her "extra large" boobs, but some of her fans and her husband were left "gutted" Former Page 3 girl Rhian Sugden has admitted her "extra large" boobs left her in "agony" after having her son, with her nipples left 11cm too low. The Celebrity Big Brother star said that "gravity took its toll" on her body, forcing her to get a breast reduction. ‌ The model, 38, explained to her 492,000 Instagram followers how her breasts had impacted her life in a video. She started: "So, being an ex-Page 3 model, I'm no stranger to getting my boobs out, so I've always been conscious about what they look like and growing up, I think I've had quite a good set of boobs. ‌ "But since having a baby gravity has obviously taken its toll and my nipples are 11cm lower than they should be." She admitted her nipples left her feeling a "bit paranoid" and was keen to get her breasts "a bit smaller, perkier, uplifted," to improve her quality of life. It comes after one TV star admitted she sleeps in separate bed to partner as she fumes over pregnancy. ‌ READ MORE: Mark Wright shares big 'disappointment' after holiday with baby Palma and Michelle Keegan Rhian continued: "My cup size at the minute is a 34GG, I can fit into a H, and it's just so difficult to buy a decent bra these days. Bikinis, I can't even find one to get into because my frame is so small and my boobs are so big so it's quite difficult. "My back ache, honestly I must have to get a massage like once a week to try and ease the pain and tension in my back." She also found she was missing out on hobbies because of her body. Rhian explained: "I swim a hell of a lot and I think because my boobs are so big, when I swim my back arches up because they push out the water. So even swimming is difficult for me at the moment, not to mention not being able to get into a swimsuit." The surgery was a beacon of hope for Rhian, who was left with deep grooves in her shoulders daily from her bra straps. She added: "Having this reduction is literally going to change my life." ‌ Rhian captioned the Instagram post: "A little bit about why I decided to have my breast reduction! This is before, clearly. Those banjongas." Even walking was difficult, her posture was affected and she was living on painkillers, so she decided surgery was the only answer. She forked out more than £10,000 to have the op at Newton-le-Willows clinic Pall Mall Cosmetics. ‌ But despite Rhian feeling like a new woman since her surgery, she has admitted her husband, Corrie's Oliver Mellor, wasn't fully on board to begin with. Speaking to the Sun, she said: "Oliver was gutted at first – he's always loved my boobs. But he understands and I think he'll be happy for me to stop moaning about my back ache, to be honest." She's also had mixed feedback from her fans, with one demanding a "refund" as he had bought her content online. OnlyFans creator Rhian explained: "He was saying I'm making the worst mistake of my life – how dare I remove the boobs." Rhian admitted that although she's had the reduction for health and cosmetic reasons, she has found it "difficult" to process other people having an opinion on her body. "It's going to be a relief," she said after her surgery.

Richarlison's clinical finish got the ball rolling in the first half before his exquisite volley after the break was added to by Brennan Johnson's neat finish. So while Spurs look ready to splash serious cash on attackers like Eberechi Eze and Savinho, do not expect another traditional central striker to come through the door. Whether that proves a shrewd move or not very much depends on Richarlison's fitness this term. His talent has never been the problem. He is capable of things others are not, exemplified by his acrobatics for his second strike here. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL BALLS UP Spurs first team to benefit from new Premier League rule as Dubravka penalised But staying fit has consistently been an issue, particularly in the last two years under Ange Postecoglou. Frank knows he must find a way to keep Richarlison on the pitch and out of the treatment room. But if he can, then the 28-year-old's display here proved he has a player capable of winning matches on his own on his day. With Solanke easing his way back in after an ankle injury picked up in pre-season, Richarlison has been leading the line through most of the friendlies. Frank freshened up his team with some youthful exuberance, bringing in teenagers Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray into midfield, along with Europa League final hero Johnson. 'The operation succeeded but the patient died' - Thomas Frank's comments leaves fans stunned after Tottenham loss to PSG Bergvall almost broke the deadlock inside the first 26 seconds, but was denied by Martin Dubravka at close range. Slovakian Dubravka, making his debut for Burnley following his move from Newcastle, then became the first Premier League stopper to fall foul of the new rules over goalies holding onto the ball too long. The fresh regulations mean a goalkeeper will be penalised if they hold the ball in their hands for eight seconds or more, and a corner will be given to the opposition. That is exactly what happened when ref Michael Oliver punished Dubravka for that offence inside four minutes, but the resulting set-piece came to nothing. Spurs did take an early lead though, thanks to Richarlison's sharp finish and Burnley's slack defending. Centre-back Maxime Esteve - who has been linked with a move to Spurs on several occasions in the last two windows - fired a lax pass up the pitch which Pape Sarr collected. The Senegalese then fed the ball to Mohammed Kudus - one of three new buys to be presented to the crowd before kick-off, along with Kota Takai and Joao Palhinha. Kudus swung in a cross which caught Hjalmar Ekdal out and allowed Richarlison to sweep into the corner. 7 Brennan Johnson flicks Tottenham into a three-goal lead Credit: Reuters 7 The Wales international performs injured team-mate James Maddison's celebration Credit: Shutterstock Editorial It was only his 21st goal for Spurs in what is now his fourth season, but of course, so many of those previous campaigns have been blighted by injury. Frank, Richarlison and everyone at Spurs will be praying it is a different story this time round for the Brazilian - and this was the perfect start to his latest new beginning. Burnley remained composed in their response to the setback - almost as cool as their manager Scott Parker looked into the dugout. The former Spurs midfielder has always been something of a style icon since becoming a manager and wore a stylish, tight-fitting blue suit as he patrolled the dugout. His team created a few chances, too, with Esteve and Lyle Foster threatening the goal, while Guglielmo Vicario looked nervy when flapping at a Josh Laurent deflected strike. With no Kevin Danso in the starting XI, it was on Bergvall to provide the long throws for Frank's side. The Swede got some good distance on one particular launch, but lacked the power of his Austrian team-mate and Burnley cleared. It was a decent first half of Premier League football for Frank as Spurs boss, full of control, if not a lot of invention. His side stepped it up at the start of the second 45 though. First Micky van de Ven flicked wide a Kudus corner and then Richarlison had two quickfire shots denied, one by Esteve's block and the other by Dubravaka's well-placed left foot. Then came the moment of the match as Richarlison stepped up for his breathtaking second. Kudus dropped his shoulder down the right and swung in a cross which the Brazilian acrobatically crashed into the net, despite the ball being behind him. It reminded everyone just what he is capable of and why, when fit, he can be a real asset for Frank's side going forward. Parker's Burnley looked toast at that point - and they certainly were when Johnson made it 3-0 shortly after, converting Sarr's through-ball. Once again, Richarlison was key in the build-up, retaining possession masterfully before offloading to Sarr. If Spurs can finally keep him fit, after three seasons of injuries, then suddenly their attack looks like it will cause problems for any side.
