New Show Explores the Past, Present and Future of Ryoji Ikeda

Hypebeast02-08-2025
Summary
As the National Asian Culture Center (ACC) in Gwangju, South Korea celebrates its 10th anniversary, it turns toRyoji Ikeda, the seminal artist who helped defines its beginnings. His first return since the inaugural 'test pattern [n°8],' the institution welcomes Ikeda back once again for a new solo exhibition, reflecting on a decade of artistic innovation and conceptual turns.
For Ikeda, data is less of a means of information, than an aesthetic material. The artist has spent over three decades pushing the boundaries of perception by transforming raw information into immersive experiences that question the nature of reality in the digital age.
The ongoing exhibition brings together seven pieces, including his seminaldata-versetrilogy in its entirety. Alongside 'dataverse 1/2/3' are four new works being shown for the first time — 'data.flux (n˚2),' 'critical mass,' 'sleeping beauty' and 'data.gram (n˚8)' — which highlight evolutions made within the artist's practice and technology at large since his 2015 ACC presentation.
Urging audiences to consider humanity's place in a world shaped by code, Ikeda channels beauty from algorithmic exhaust, offering a powerful meditation on what it means to see, hear and exist in the age of information overload.
ACC Focus 2025: Ryoji Ikedais now on view through December 28.

ACC college football stadium rankings by Google, Yelp and Tripadvisor reviews

The two best-reviewed football stadiums in the ACC also feature two of the best entrances in the entire country. The run from Howard's Rock down the hill into Clemson's Memorial Stadium (aka Death Valley) and the frenzy set off by the guitar riffs of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" when Virginia Tech walks through the tunnel into Lane Stadium are unforgettable parts of the college football experience at this point. So perhaps it's no surprise then that they also received the best marks among ACC venues, according to an analysis of more than 3,000 reviews doled out by users on Google, Yelp and Tripadvisor. Clemson's Memorial Stadium and Virginia Tech's Lane Stadium were two of five ACC stadiums that finished with a combined average score of more than 4.6 stars out of 5. Florida State's Doak Campbell Stadium, Pittsburgh's Acrisure Stadium and North Carolina State's Carter-Finley Stadium also received fared well compared to their peers in other conferences. The ACC, however, had the fewest stadiums above 4.6 among power conferences. The list differs from USA TODAY's list of best college football stadiums published last month. Here's a full breakdown of where all 17 ACC stadiums rank based on Google, Yelp and Tripadvisor ratings entering the 2025 college football season: NATION'S BEST: Top college football stadiums rankings by Yelp, Tripadvisor, Google reviews ACC football stadium rankings

Haley Cavinder celebrates Cowboys fiancé Jake Ferguson's $52 million contract

Jake Ferguson isn't celebrating his contract extension alone. Ferguson's fiancée, Haley Cavinder, posted her pride for the Cowboys tight end's new deal on Sunday. 'So proud of this man!!!' Cavinder wrote on the Cavinder Twins' TikTok account that she shares with her twin Hanna. 'Go Ferg & go cowboys.' Advertisement @cavindertwins so proud of this man!!! Cavinder Twins/TikTok Advertisement While exciting for the soon-to-be wedded couple, many fans were shocked to see Ferguson's extension come in the midst of Dallas' contract lull with superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons. Parsons is entering the final year of his rookie contract and has seen the likes of TJ Watt, Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett get paid big money, yet is still awaiting an agreement for himself. While fans continue waiting for Parsons' contract, Ferguson's was still well earned as he has been a top target for quarterback Dak Prescott the past two seasons. 4 Jake Ferguson is entering his fourth NFL season with the Cowboys. Last season was a bit quieter for Ferguson as he tallied just 59 catches, 494 yards and no touchdowns, albeit he played in three fewer games. Ferguson is, of course, not the only athlete in his relationship as Cavinder played five seasons of college basketball, three at Fresno State and two at Miami. 4 Haley Cavinder averaged 16.9 points per game across her collegiate career. Her and her sister have amassed nearly 5 million followers on their joint TikTok account.
