Prioritise repair of shrines around Lingaraj temple: Odisha CM
As per the review meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan here, the development work of Ghatagaon Maa Tarini temple spanning 59 acre is being carried out in four phases. The integrated development and beautification of the shrine is expected to be completed within two-and-a-half years.
The `224.7 crore project will feature a 200-bed Yatri Niwas, a 300-seat auditorium, a food plaza, parking facilities, a market complex, drainage system, ponds and road infrastructure, among other amenities.
The chief minister emphasised that the agencies engaged for the redevelopment and beautification works should do it in consultation with the temple management committee. He further directed that the shops around the temple be relocated to the proposed market complex. Majhi had announced the development project during his first visit to Keonjhar district after taking oath as the chief minister last year.

The eastern Indian state of Odisha has secured a significant breakthrough in textile sector investment following the launch of its Apparel & Technical Textile Policy 2022. The state government has announced the signing of 33 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), amounting to investments worth ₹7,808 crore ($902 million). Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, while inaugurating Odisha-TEX 2025, stated, 'The state is set to emerge as the textile hub of eastern India. Odisha offers attractive incentive packages under its Industrial Policy Resolution 2022 and the Odisha Apparel & Technical Textiles Policy 2022, supported by excellent infrastructure and governance.' Odisha has signed 33 MoUs worth $902 million to boost its textile sector under the state's Apparel & Technical Textile Policy 2022. With plans to create over 1 lakh jobs by 2030 and expand clusters in six districts, the state is positioning itself as eastern India's textile hub. Employment subsidies have been raised to support workforce participation and attract investors. The textile and apparel industry event, Odisha-TEX 2025, was organised by the state government in Bhubaneswar. The Chief Minister added, 'With world-class infrastructure, progressive policies, and a skilled workforce, we are creating unmatched opportunities for investors and livelihoods for our people.' He also announced the formation of a dedicated Task Force under the Industries Department and assured investors of fast-track implementation and full government support. Odisha has set an ambitious vision to create over one lakh jobs in textiles and apparel by 2030, while developing new textile clusters in Bolangir, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, and Cuttack. Chief Minister Majhi also announced that the employment cost subsidies under the Odisha Technical Textile & Apparel Policy 2022 would be increased from ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 ($58–$70) per month for male workers, and from ₹6,000 to ₹7,000 ($70–$81) per month for female workers. The event attracted over 650 delegates from the textile sector, including global brands, leading textile and apparel companies, investors, technology providers, startups, and senior government officials. More than 160 companies, including reputed manufacturing units such as Page Industries, First Step Baby Wear, KPR Mills, Sportking, Adarsh Knitwear, Anubhav Apparels, Bon & Co., and B.L. Hindalco to invest Rs 200 crore in apparel units in Keonjhar, Sambalpur; 2,400 jobs to be created
BHUBANESWAR: Hindalco Industries Ltd has committed an investment of Rs 200 crore to set up apparel manufacturing units in Keonjhar and Sambalpur districts, in a significant move to boost employment and industrial development in the state. The Aditya Birla Group company signed two separate MoUs with the state government on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during Odisha TEX 2025. The MoUs were exchanged between principal secretary of Skill Development and Technical Education department BS Poonia and president (corporate affairs) of Hindalco Industries Ardhendu Mahapatra. According to the MoUs, Hindalco will establish apparel manufacturing units in the two districts with an investment of Rs 100 crore for each district, creating 2,400 direct employment opportunities. This would be the third and fourth textile unit of Hindalco in the state. While its Mancheswar unit is already operational, the company is setting up an apparel manufacturing unit at Kanshariguda near the Aditya alumina refinery in Rayagada district. It will employ 3,000 local women. 'This investment further strengthens Hindalco's footprint in Odisha. The company is committed to generating additional employment opportunities in the state in the near future through continued collaboration with the government,' the company said in a statement. Minister for Industries and Skill Development Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister for Handlooms and Textiles Pradeep Bal Samant and senior government officials were present.

Inaugural Odisha TEX 2025 draws Rs 7.8K crore investment proposals, over 53,000 jobs
BHUBANESWAR: The first Odisha Textile Summit (Odisha TEX 2025) organised by the state government on Friday attracted investment proposals worth around Rs 7,808 crore that would generate more than 53,300 employment opportunities in the textile and apparel sector. Industry leaders, including Sportsking India Ltd, MCPI Pvt Ltd, First Step Babywear, Creative Garments Pvt Ltd, Aditi Lifestyle, Hindalco, SCM Garments Pvt Ltd, Tiruppur-based Adishtam Ventures Pvt Ltd and Coimbatore-based KPR Mill Ltd were among 33 companies which signed MoUs to set up their units. This was in addition to the 11 MoUs of Rs 7,002 crore signed during the Utkarsh Odisha: Make-in-Odisha Conclave 2025 held in January this year. The state government had then signed 145 MoUs worth Rs 12.89 lakh crore across 16 diverse sectors. Terming the first Odisha TEX 2025 a grand success, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the state government has set an ambitious target to create over one lakh jobs in textiles and apparel sector by 2030 with new clusters in Balangir, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam and Cuttack districts. 'We have received overwhelming response during the first textile summit. It will not only help reduce migration of workers from the state but also make Odisha a textile hub and lead Eastern India's textile revolution,' he said. The chief minister said Odisha offers the most attractive incentive packages in the country under its Industrial Policy Resolution 2022 and the Odisha Apparel and Technical Textiles Policy (OATTP) 2022.
