Investigators from B.C.'s Independent Investigations Office are seen in this file photo from the IIO. Police in Victoria used a 'less lethal round' when responding to a weapons call in the city's downtown Friday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m. at the intersection of Douglas Street and Pandora Avenue, according to a social media post from the Victoria Police Department. Police said the suspect was taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing. They did not provide any additional details about the suspect, such as the person's gender, what kind of weapon they allegedly possessed or whether they would be held in custody while awaiting charges. The Independent Investigations Office of B.C., which looks into police use of force in the province, confirmed in an email that it had been notified of the incident. The office said it would be issuing a media release about the case, but could not provide any additional information before the release is published.
