Love Island's Megan Barton-Hanson makes fresh abuse allegations as she says she's ended relationship after 'fearing for her life'

Daily Mail02-05-2025

Megan Barton-Hanson has claimed to have ended an allegedly 'abusive' relationship after 'fearing for her life' in an heartbreaking confession on Friday.
The Love Island star, 30, took to Instagram to share a deeply emotional post, alleging that she has endured domestic abuse for the third time.
In the message, Megan accused her unnamed partner of 'coercive control and emotional abuse,' alleging the relationship left her feeling 'utterly worthless'.
Megan did not specify who the partner in question is or exactly when the relationship took place.
The reality TV star previously opened up about her harrowing past experiences with abuse during an emotional interview with Paul C Brunson in December.
In her new post, she claimed: 'I wasn't sure I was going to share this because no matter how raw or real your truth it, there's always a risk of judgement. And lately, I've felt so low I wasn't sure I could handle the backlash.
'You might have noticed I went quiet on social media until recently. But silence helps no one. And this needs to be said.
'After my interview with Paul Brunson, I felt so hopeful - like I was finally in a place to open up to love again after surviving two previous experiences of domestic abuse.'
Megan went on to claim that she became a victim of domestic abuse again and shared a string of allegations against her now-ex-partner.
'I never imagined I'd find myself in that situation again. But here I am, sharing yet another chapter of surviving coercive control and emotional abuse - because too many women can relate,' she alleged.
'Despite being financially independent and confident in my career, I was manipulated, blamed, and made to feel worthless. I was told I wasn't ''relationship material,'' pressured into sending thousands of pounds to ''prove'' my love - money he later spent on escorts and luxury hotels.
'I was shamed for my work and silenced for my success. And like many others, I confused control for passion, and cruelty for love. I dropped charges I shouldn't have.
'But love doesn't hurt. Love respects. Love never makes you feel small, unsafe, or silenced.'
Megan alleged the relationship came to an end when she feared for her safety because she wanted to go paddleboarding with two older women while he was at work.
She claimed: 'I've made excuses in the past, blaming my own high standards or strong will, but this time, I won't. There's no excuse for violence. None.
'I'm not sharing this for sympathy - I'm sharing it for every woman who thinks it's 'not that bad' or 'maybe it's my fault'. It's not.
'If someone chips away at your confidence, controls your finances, or isolates you from people who love you - that is abuse.
'Whether you're a sex worker or have a 9-to-5, you deserve to feel safe in your relationship. No exceptions.'
She also offered her support to women's and domestic abuse charities, pledging to help raise awareness and champion their work.
'Never second guess your boundaries again. You are not alone. And you are never to blame,' she signed off the post.
In December, during an interview with relationship expert Paul C Brunson, Megan opened up about her harrowing past relationships.
She revealed her horrifying ordeal at the hands of an abusive ex, saying she fell pregnant after he removed his condom without her consent, an illegal practise known as stealthing.
Megan revealed they had opted to terminate the pregnancy but her ex fell into a violent rage on their way home from the procedure.
She said she was then given '10 seconds to run' to safety as her ex threatened to kill her.
Megan confessed: 'I thought he'd literally kill me, the way he was. He was acting literally psychotic.'
She reported her ex to the police and after testifying against him in court he was sentenced to a month-and-a-half in prison.
During the podcast, Megan also detailed another abusive relationship where she was held at knifepoint.
She explained that she had tried to end the relationship when 'he put a knife to my throat and asked me to put his bank details into my online banking and transfer him ten grand a month because he was taxing me for not loving him'.

Love Island fans convinced Ben doesn't fancy stunning American bombshell Toni as they spot giveaway sign

LOVE Island fans are convinced Ben doesn't fancy new bombshell Toni - despite the fact she stole him from Shakira in the series opener. Loyal ITV2 viewers threatened to call Ofcom over a brutal show twist which saw the American's arrival as the latest instalment kicked off. 7 7 7 Love Island anchor Maya Jama, 30, delivered a huge bombshell when she entered the villa for a second time in episode one. Her bombshell was that a bombshell was arriving. Glam girl Toni, 24 - who is the first ever late show arrival from the United States - then arrived. The couples were left stunned as Las Vegas pool cabana server Toni said: "Good Evening UK! Surprise!" They quickly worked out she is American and on being the first American bombshell Toni says: "Lucky girl, aren't I?" Maya then explained that Toni was to immediately steal a boy. Toni then opted for Ben, 23, meaning Shakira was left single and vulnerable. Yet viewers aren't convinced it's a winning match. One took to X to write: "Ben doesn't fancy that girl btw." Another mused: "Ben doesn't even look like he wants to be there. This season is about to be a mess." A third then added: "Ben did not want to be picked." It remains to be seen what the taxi driver's next move is - and if he will take the time to get to know Toni, who recently revealed her crippling health battle. NEXT STEPS During Monday's episode, Maya then revealed that Burnley lass Shakira is now single. Maya clarified the brunette beauty wouldn't be dumped from the villa immediately, but instead had 24 hours to graft and steal a boy from someone else. She isn't allowed to take Ben back from Antonia, and if she doesn't get chosen, she'll be packing her bags. But if she does get selected in the next re-coupling round, another girl will be going home. Leaving the group with that cliffhanger, Maya then suggested that the girls keep their "boys very close". The show's six couples with Shakira single are now Toni and Ben, Meg and Dejon, Sophie and Harry, Helena and Conor, Alima and Blu, and Megan and Tommy. Yet it might not look good for Shakira, who entered the villa first alongside Meg Moore, 25. She promptly offended swathes of viewers as she made a stark comment about 9-5 jobs. Inside Romeo Beckha new romance as she gets mum Victoria's approval

Romeo Beckham has sparked new romance speculation after being spotted with German model Caroline Daur just weeks after his split from former girlfriend, DJ Kim Turnbull All eyes were once again on the Beckhams this week as son Romeo Beckham was spotted with a potential new flame. Just weeks after the 22 year old called time on his relationship with Kim Turnbull he was seen enjoying some alone time with Caroline Daur, 30. The German has become famous in the fashion world with the model being a recognised blogger. And it appears she has already been given the nod of approval by Victoria Beckham, who has long admired her work. ‌ In 2018, the former Spice Girls' Facebook account asked Caroline for an image of her wearing one of her designs. And the German star has also been present at a number of Posh's fashion shows over the years. ‌ But who is Caroline Daur and how did she make her way in the industry? She previously revealed she is proud to be a "self-made" success. She once said: "I don't have an agent, manager or assistant. I do everything by myself." She rose in the industry in the early 2010s with a successful fashion blog and has since amassed 4.6million Instagram followers. She also has over one million people follower her TikTok account. She is now thought to have a net worth of around €4 million (£3.4million). She has branched out with her work and featured on TV too. She was involved as a guest judge on the German version of Next Top Model. Caroline also launched a series of work out videos which were available to follow online. The model is also set to appear on the small screen once more having landed a role on a German Netflix series. Last year, she filmed for the series titled She Said Yes. Caroline also previously opened up on dealing with ADHD, which she was diagnosed with later in life. "It didn't surprise me," she confessed after revealing the condition. "And it didn't surprise anyone around me either. The diagnosis came late, but it explained so much." ‌ She continued: "'My brain is like an internet browser with 47 tabs open. Sport is the only way I can calm it down. This morning I worked out at 7am, even after a short night. Without it, I just don't function." It remains to be seen how Romeo's family react to any potential budding romance between the pair. The second eldest son of David and Victoria found himself surrounded by rumours of a family feud after his older brother Brooklyn, 26, swerved the siblings' dad's 50th birthday. ‌ Brooklyn was said to have been 'uneasy' about Romeo dating his, ex Kim, who was once close friends with the hot sauce enthusiast. He reportedly felt his parents were 'favouring' his younger brother, who was seen beaming in snaps from David's birthday. Amid the fallout, Romeo and Kim ended their partnership and now appears to be getting cosy with the German model. The duo were spotted in Paris together, having reportedly bonded over their love of Tennis. Both were attending the Men's Singles Semi Final at the French Open on Friday.
