Megan Barton-Hanson ends 'abusive' relationship after fearing for her life

Megan Barton-Hanson has revealed she's ended her relationship after allegedly fearing for her life. The Love Island star, 31, has previously spoken about being a victim at the hands of an abusive ex. She's now revealed she ended a relationship in a post on Instagram, which was captioned: 'In 2025, over 1.7 million women in the UK will experience domestic abuse. Shelters are overwhelmed. Awareness is crucial. 'To any domestic violence charities — I want to help. Please reach out to my management. I'm making this my priority. 'To every woman: trust your instincts, trust your loved ones, and never doubt your worth.' In the post, Megan accused her partner – who is unnamed – of 'coercive control and emotional abuse'. She did not state when the relationship took place, or who she was involved with. She said: 'I wasn't sure I was going to share this – because no matter how raw or real your truth is, there's always a risk of judgement. 'And lately, I've felt so low I wasn't sure I could handle the backlash. 'You might have noticed I went quiet on social media until recently. But silence helps no one. And this needs to be said.' Megan spoke about an interview she gave last year with Married At First Sight expert Paul C Brunson, where she revealed a terrifying ordeal where she was raped by her ex and fell pregnant. In the post on Instagram, Megan said: 'I never imagined I'd find myself in that situation again.' She then accused her ex-partner of coercively controlling and emotionally abusing her. She said she was allegedly 'manipulated, blamed, and made to feel worthless' and claimed she was pressured into sending thousands of pounds to her then-partner, which he used 'on escorts and luxury hotels'. 'I was shamed for my work and silenced for my success,' she claimed. 'And like many others, I confused control for passion, and cruelty for love. I dropped charges I shouldn't have.' Megan claimed the relationship ended when she 'feared for my life' because she wanted to go paddleboarding while he was working. 'I'd gone all the way to Scotland to prove my loyalty – and still, I was the enemy in his eyes.' She said she made the decision to share her story 'for every woman who thinks it's 'not that bad' or 'maybe it's my fault'.' 'Abuse hides behind charm, behind promises, behind guilt. But real love will never ask you to lose yourself.' Megan was praised and supported by fans and friends alike for her bravery in sharing her story. Love Island's Megan Barton-Hanson makes fresh abuse allegations as she says she's ended relationship after 'fearing for her life'

Megan Barton-Hanson has claimed to have ended an allegedly 'abusive' relationship after 'fearing for her life' in an heartbreaking confession on Friday. The Love Island star, 30, took to Instagram to share a deeply emotional post, alleging that she has endured domestic abuse for the third time. In the message, Megan accused her unnamed partner of 'coercive control and emotional abuse,' alleging the relationship left her feeling 'utterly worthless'. Megan did not specify who the partner in question is or exactly when the relationship took place. The reality TV star previously opened up about her harrowing past experiences with abuse during an emotional interview with Paul C Brunson in December. In her new post, she claimed: 'I wasn't sure I was going to share this because no matter how raw or real your truth it, there's always a risk of judgement. And lately, I've felt so low I wasn't sure I could handle the backlash. 'You might have noticed I went quiet on social media until recently. But silence helps no one. And this needs to be said. 'After my interview with Paul Brunson, I felt so hopeful - like I was finally in a place to open up to love again after surviving two previous experiences of domestic abuse.' Megan went on to claim that she became a victim of domestic abuse again and shared a string of allegations against her now-ex-partner. 'I never imagined I'd find myself in that situation again. But here I am, sharing yet another chapter of surviving coercive control and emotional abuse - because too many women can relate,' she alleged. 'Despite being financially independent and confident in my career, I was manipulated, blamed, and made to feel worthless. I was told I wasn't ''relationship material,'' pressured into sending thousands of pounds to ''prove'' my love - money he later spent on escorts and luxury hotels. 'I was shamed for my work and silenced for my success. And like many others, I confused control for passion, and cruelty for love. I dropped charges I shouldn't have. 'But love doesn't hurt. Love respects. Love never makes you feel small, unsafe, or silenced.' Megan alleged the relationship came to an end when she feared for her safety because she wanted to go paddleboarding with two older women while he was at work. She claimed: 'I've made excuses in the past, blaming my own high standards or strong will, but this time, I won't. There's no excuse for violence. None. 'I'm not sharing this for sympathy - I'm sharing it for every woman who thinks it's 'not that bad' or 'maybe it's my fault'. It's not. 'If someone chips away at your confidence, controls your finances, or isolates you from people who love you - that is abuse. 'Whether you're a sex worker or have a 9-to-5, you deserve to feel safe in your relationship. No exceptions.' She also offered her support to women's and domestic abuse charities, pledging to help raise awareness and champion their work. 'Never second guess your boundaries again. You are not alone. And you are never to blame,' she signed off the post. In December, during an interview with relationship expert Paul C Brunson, Megan opened up about her harrowing past relationships. She revealed her horrifying ordeal at the hands of an abusive ex, saying she fell pregnant after he removed his condom without her consent, an illegal practise known as stealthing. Megan revealed they had opted to terminate the pregnancy but her ex fell into a violent rage on their way home from the procedure. She said she was then given '10 seconds to run' to safety as her ex threatened to kill her. Megan confessed: 'I thought he'd literally kill me, the way he was. He was acting literally psychotic.' She reported her ex to the police and after testifying against him in court he was sentenced to a month-and-a-half in prison. During the podcast, Megan also detailed another abusive relationship where she was held at knifepoint. She explained that she had tried to end the relationship when 'he put a knife to my throat and asked me to put his bank details into my online banking and transfer him ten grand a month because he was taxing me for not loving him'.

Megan Barton-Hanson makes fresh abuse accusations as she claims 'I feared for my life'

Megan Barton-Hanson took to Instagram to claim she has again been the victim of domestic abuse and said she is speaking out on the trauma as 'silence helps no one' Megan Barton Hanson has claimed she has been the victim of domestic abuse, revealing that she "feared" for her life in a relationship. The former Love Island star admitted she wasn't going to open up on her ordeal, but said "silence helps no one". She candidly wrote a long statement on Instagram, claiming that an ex-partner became "violent" towards her. She said: "After my interview with Paul Brunson, I felt so hopeful - like I was finally in a place to open up to love again after surviving two previous experiences of domestic abuse. ‌ "I never imagined I'd find myself in that situation again. But here I am, sharing yet another chapter of surviving coercive control and emotional abuse - because too many women can relate." ‌ The reality TV star said that despite her financial stability and career confidence, she was "manipulated, blamed, and made to feel worthless". She claimed she was pressured to send large sums of money to "prove" her love. While Megan doesn't name the man in question, she said she "confused control for passion and cruelty for love" before saying: "I dropped charges I shouldn't have". She continued: "But love doesn't hurt. Love respects. Love never makes you feel small, unsafe, or silenced." She claimed things ended when she "feared for my life" while her partner was working. "That moment shook me to the core," she claimed before saying "I was the enemy in his eyes". "I've made excuses in the past," she went on. "Blaming my own high standards or strong will, but this time, I won't. There's no excuse for violence. None." ‌ Megan said she wasn't looking for sympathy by sharing the comments, but wanted everyone to know they "deserve to feel safe in your relationship". She shared harrowing stats regarding domestic abuse, saying over 1.7million women have experienced it in the UK in 2025. Megan said she is now making it her priority to raise awareness and "fight for change" however she can. The identity of her ex-partner is not know and could not be contacted for comment. ‌ Megan has previously opened up on other incidents. Last year, she revealed she has experienced 'stealthing' up to six times, before realising it's a form of sexual assault. The rarely reported crime can carry a prison sentence. She recalled how on up to six occasions, while sleeping with a man, they have claimed the condom has split, which lead her to having an abortion. Classified as rape, the slang term 'stealthing', is used to describe the non consensual removal of a condom during sex, without informing the other person. But tragically, Megan "didn't know it was a crime" until speaking to Married At First Sight expert Paul C Brunson on the We Need to Talk podcast.
