The EIA mentioned that Iraq's crude oil exports to the United States during June rose to 6.43 million barrels compared to 5.54 million barrels in May 2025, Shafaq News reported.
Iraq exported an average of 312,000 barrels of crude oil per day to the United States during the first week of June, 183,000 barrels per day during the second week, 212,000 barrels per day during the third week, and 164,000 barrels per day during the fourth week, according to figures released by the EIA.
The EIA indicated that Iraq was the sixth-largest oil exporter to the United States during June, following Canada, which was the largest oil supplier to the United States, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and Nigeria.
Iraq was the second-largest oil supplier to the United States in the Arab region, following Saudi Arabia, which exported 10 million barrels, and Libya, which exported a total of 4.16 million barrels.
Iraq's crude oil and oil derivative exports to the United States exceeded 95 million barrels in 2024.
Iraq's oil exports to the United States have increased significantly in the last few years, often achieving record levels within a single month. This growth can be attributed to Iraq's ability to increase oil production and the growing demand globally.

Iraq consumes +59M liters of fuel daily
Shafaq News – Baghdad Iraq consumes approximately 31 million liters of gasoline and 28 million liters of diesel each day, according to the EcoIraq economic observatory. Sajad al-Sudani, a member of the observatory, told Shafaq News that Iraq continues to record high levels of fuel consumption. 'Gasoline consumption reaches 217M liters per week,' he said. He added that monthly gasoline consumption stands at about 930M liters, while annual demand exceeds 11.38B liters. Diesel consumption, meanwhile, surpasses 27M liters per day—189M liters weekly—amounting to 810M liters per month and more than 9.85B liters annually. Al-Sudani noted that Iraq's low fuel prices are largely the result of substantial government subsidies. 'Iraq ranks 19th globally and seventh in the Arab world for having some of the cheapest fuel prices,' he said, warning that maintaining this level of subsidy amid such high consumption poses a significant challenge to the national budget.

Iraq studies green hydrogen, low-emissions cement initiatives
Baghdad ( – Iraq has launched a study that will examine the feasibility of green hydrogen generation as part of its clean energy policy. According to the state-run news agency (INA), the Ministry of Industry and Minerals is conducting the research in partnership with the Ministry of Electricity and the Ministry of Oil, as well as the National Investment Commission (NIC), with the participation of the private sector in the initiative. The Iraqi government is also studying approaches to build low-emission cement-producing plants. These efforts are part of Iraq's national energy strategy, which aims to reduce emissions by improving the utilization of energy and expanding the use of renewable sources, notably solar energy, in industrial operations. The ministry stated that its affiliated firms are prepared to develop solar power projects, with the government's goal of generating 12,000 megawatts of electricity from solar energy by 2030, as indicated in the statement. The Iraqi government is establishing a solar power plant in the central desert area as part of attempts to alleviate persistent electricity shortages caused by declining gas supplies from neighboring Iran. The new solar power plant will generate 300 megawatts of electricity using 500,000 solar panels, 39,000 of which have already been installed.
