Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe hospitalized amid the Club World Cup
MIAMI — Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been hospitalized with an acute case of gastroenteritis, the Spanish club said Thursday. World Cup winner Mbappe missed Madrid's opening game at the Club World Cup against Saudi Arabian team Al Hilal in Miami on Wednesday because of a fever. Coach Xabi Alonso said he hoped the France international would be available for the team's next game against Pachuca on Sunday. But his hospitalization casts doubt over what part he might be able to play in the monthlong tournament in the United States. Madrid said Mbappe would "undergo a series of tests and follow the appropriate course of treatment." Mbappe's absence is a blow to the tournament, which FIFA president Gianni Infantino hopes will be one of the elite events in soccer and rival competitions like the Champions League and Premier League in popularity and value. After Lionel Messi, Mbappe is arguably the biggest star in the show, with Madrid one of the favorites to lift the trophy in the inaugural edition of the tournament. But a crowd of more than 62,000 at Hard Rock Stadium missed out on a rare chance to see him in person in the U.S. when he was unavailable for Madrid's surprise 1-1 draw by Al Hilal on Wednesday. Gastroenteritis is also known as stomach flu and symptoms can include vomiting and diarrhea. Mbappe's hospitalization comes almost exactly one year after he sustained a broken nose at the European Championship and had to wear a face mask to continue playing in the tournament.

But supporters noticed a strange mark on the shirt when the players modelled it for promo photos. A bizarre horizontal line can be clearly seen across the lower torso. Some fans even spotted it on the away and goalkeeper jerseys too. Plenty have speculated what has caused the mark and many reckon it has come from the heat press used to print on the names and numbers. The authentic fabric used by Adidas in their premium shirts is said to be sensitive material that could "slightly shrink or stretch". Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw by Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal yesterday in their Club World Cup opener. Fans were looking out for the mystery line and some believe they could see it on Thibaut Courtois and Dean Huijsen's shirts. PSG vs Botafogo prediction, odds and betting offer
PSG showed no signs of fatigue as the Champions League winners thrashed Atletico Madrid last time out and now are firm favourites to beat Botafogo Any lingering doubts about Paris Saint-Germain's drive after their Champions League victory were laid to rest with a resounding 4-0 thrashing of Atlético Madrid on Sunday. The Parisians were in complete control, dictating the pace of the game with a staggering 75% possession and outshooting Atlético 16 to five. Even Clément Lenglet's dismissal in the 78th minute did little to change the flow of the match, as PSG seemed untroubled throughout. Luis Enrique's squad received a significant morale boost with goals coming from all corners. Fabián Ruiz, Vitinha, Senny Mayulu, and Lee Kang-in each found the back of the net, showcasing the depth and versatility of the team. With such a commanding lead, Enrique had the luxury of rotating his squad and resting key players in the second half. This dominant performance places PSG firmly at the top of Group B, making them overwhelming favourites at 1/16 to finish first. Their impressive display has also seen them leapfrog Real Madrid as the tournament favourites, now priced at 11/4. Despite PSG's formidable form, Botafogo shouldn't be written off just yet. The Brazilian side are no strangers to success, having clinched both the Copa Libertadores and the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A titles in 2024. However, under new leadership from Renato Paiva, they currently sit eighth in their domestic league and have struggled to replicate last season's form. Botafogo kicked off their Club World Cup campaign with a narrow 2-1 victory over Seattle Sounders. Early goals from Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus gave them control, but Seattle fought back hard in the second half, with Cristian Roldan pulling one back in the 75th minute. Despite being pushed to their limits, Botafogo managed to hold on for a win that was tighter than anticipated.
