Massive $7 billion order for private jets raises eyebrows: 'This report presents further proof ...'
The company, which offers "fractional ownership" of jets — allowing users to purchase a share of a jet for a set amount of time — placed an order with Embraer Executive Jets that is valued at up to $7 billion. The deal guarantees Flexjet 182 new aircraft, with options for 30 more and an extended service agreement, Forbes reported.
The vast majority of these new aircraft will be Praetors, which is Embraer's larger model.

The move is seen as a positive for the ultrawealthy, who are the typical users of private aviation. It's less encouraging, however, for those who care about the changing climate.
Commercial aviation is responsible for about 4% of global heat-trapping gases, which pollute the air and cause rising temperatures. Private jets typically have only a handful of people on board and often fly short distances (about half of flights were 310 miles or less), making it the most energy-intensive form of flying.
Private jets still make up a small portion of the total commercial-aviation landscape, but the sector is growing rapidly. A study published in Nature found that pollution from private flights increased by 46% between 2019 and 2023.
"This report presents further proof that billionaires are causing the climate crisis," Jonathan Westin, executive director of the Climate Organizing Hub, told PBS. "They are clinging to their private jets and oil profits while regular people see increasing floods, hurricanes, and wildfires."
Fortunately, while some companies are actively making Earth more polluted with their aviation decisions, others are working toward solutions.
There are also promising developments in the private sector for aviation's future. Several companies are developing hybrid or fully electric aircraft, with test flights proving successful. One is looking at how to turn polluted air from a cement factory into cleaner jet fuel.

White House Creates ‘Dynamic' Loyalty Scorecards For Over 500 U.S. Companies
Topline The White House has created 'dynamic scorecards' to measure U.S. companies' loyalty and support for President Donald Trump's agenda, a White House official confirmed to Forbes in an email Friday, revealing the grading system as it continues pressuring large firms to align with its economic and social policies. The scorecards will take into account current and future support for Trump's agenda. (Photo by) Getty Images Key Facts The White House confirmed to Forbes an Axios report that the West Wing created a scorecard rating 553 companies on how strongly they have supported President Donald Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill,' seemingly allowing the White House to quickly gauge how they will approach future conversations or interactions with the listed companies. The White House official told Forbes the dynamic scorecards 'incorporate the support of present and future administration initiatives.' In addition to considering companies' support of Trump's agenda, the scorecards also take into account companies' social media posts, press releases, video testimonials, advertisements and attendance at White House events, Axios reported, noting companies' support is ranked as strong, moderate or low. Axios cited as examples of 'good' partners United, Delta, Uber, DoorDash, AT&T, Cisco, Airlines for America and the Steel Manufacturers Association. An unnamed White House staffer told Axios the scorecards help 'us see who really goes out and helps vs. those who just come in and pay lip service,' adding the gradings can change if 'companies want to start advocating more now for the tax bill or additional administration priorities.' How Have Companies With Positive Grades Supported The Trump Administration? Delta and United lauded a provision within Trump's megabill calling for a $12.5 billion investment for upgrading air traffic control systems, which came months after a passenger airliner crashed into an Army helicopter at Reagan National Airport, killing 67. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, who donated $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund, publicly supported Trump's "No Tax on Tips" policy implemented through the megabill. Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins also supported the bill and its corporate tax provisions. What Other Companies May Have Positive Grades? In addition to supporting the 'Big Beautiful Bill,' companies that have made investments into the U.S. economy may also receive positive grades. Apple is one of the largest tech companies likely in the good graces of the Trump administration, as the iPhone maker has committed $600 billion to domestic manufacturing slated to bring tens of thousands of jobs to the U.S. Amazon has made multiple multibillion-dollar investments in domestic cloud computing infrastructure, data centers and rural delivery networks, tacking on to other infrastructure and manufacturing investments from companies like NVIDIA, IBM and Johnson & Johnson. Companies like Amazon, Meta and Google have pulled back diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives targeted by the Trump administration, which could curry favor with Trump. What Companies Has Trump Criticized? Trump has had friction with some companies publicly, though it is not clear what companies have low marks, if any. Trump recently told CNBC that Bank of America and JPMorgan rejected him as a customer, adding fuel to conservatives' claims they are discriminated against by big banks. Trump also called for the ouster of Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan this month over concerns about his business connections to hundreds of Chinese businesses, saying there was 'no other solution to the problem.' Days later, following a meeting between Trump and Tan, reports surfaced that the Trump administration may be considering a stake in the tech company. Key Background Trump has applied pressure on various companies to push his opposition to DEI initiatives, encourage domestic manufacturing and infrastructure and even get Coca-Cola to bring the cane sugar version of its flagship product to the U.S. One poignant example of the administration's power came when the Federal Communications Commission approved an $8 billion merger between Paramount and Skydance Media, with Skydance vowing to end DEI considerations in hiring, promotions, development and compensation. It also agreed to produce news and entertainment programming that embodies 'a diversity of viewpoints,' according to FCC Chair Brendan Carr. Cato Institute Chair Ryan Bourne told NBC News it is unprecedented for a president to use his power to suggest CEO firings, suggest how companies should set prices and carve out 'firm-specific deals that directly pay the government.' Everything we love about the bed earned it the top spot in our king mattress shopping guide as well. The hybrid design is great for a variety of sleepers—including back, side and combination—as well as sleepers with back pain. It has a thick pillow top (which was recently increased in size by the brand) that helps give the bed a comfy, balanced feel and excellent motion isolation. More Deal Information: Helix offered 30% off earlier this year, but this exclusive reader code matches the best discount we've seen since then. Supportive and affordable (even when it's not on sale), this hybrid design is our favorite king bed for back and stomach sleepers, as well as our pick for the best value mattress in our main mattress shopping guide. The classic design conforms to your body and helps regulate temperature while you sleep. Its medium-firm build leans to the firmer end of the spectrum, making it easy to move on and great for sleepers who want a little extra support. It also delivers excellent motion isolation—something couples will appreciate. More Deal Information: This bed dropped to $799 during the brand's Spring Flash Sale this year. However, the original price of the mattress has increased since then from $1,898, so it may not reach that low again any time soon. If you struggle with back pain, consider the Saatva Classic. The innerspring design is our favorite mattress for back pain overall. It has a dual-coil construction and multiple layers of targeted lumbar support that make it an ultra-supportive mattress, especially for back sleepers. While the design gives you a buoyant feel, it did not score as highly during our tests for motion isolation, but it does excel at edge support. The bed comes in three firmness levels, so you can customize it to your preference. (I own the luxury-firm and love it.) More Deal Information: Although the brand increased the original price of this mattress in 2025, it rarely exceeds $400 off, even during major sale events. This discount is one of the better prices we've seen this year, just shy of the $2,210 low at the end of March. Classic memory foam offers coveted features—like excellent motion isolation and contouring pressure relief—but it's known for retaining heat. This Tempur-Pedic model is designed with cooling properties that help with temperature regulation while you sleep, like a cool-t0-the-touch cover, so you're not as likely to overheat. Heavier sleepers or anyone searching for a bed that delivers extra support may find a better fit with a more supportive hybrid design. More Deal Information: This discount is small, but it matches one of the better prices we've seen for this model in the king size. This Leesa mattress blends springs and memory foam to create a cushy, hybrid design that's as supportive as it is comfortable. It has a bouncy feel that one tester described as 'plush and airy but on the sturdier side of the scale." Not only is it our favorite king-sized hybrid bed, but it's also our favorite hybrid mattress overall. It accommodates all sleeping positions, offers great edge support and includes cooling properties to help regulate temperature all night long. More Deal Information: This model was available for $1,919 earlier this year. Leesa also offered 30% off select models over the July 4th holiday, but the brand increased the original price of this mattress as well. If you're willing to wait, we may see an additional drop on this design. While many brands offer cooling additions to their mattresses for an added fee, this Brooklyn Bedding design comes with a GlacioTex cooling cover built in. Besides hot sleepers, this cool-to-the-touch bed is also great for side, back and stomach sleepers. The model comes in three firmness levels for added versatility: We recommend the soft model for side sleepers looking for superior pressure relief and the medium or firm for back and stomach sleepers, depending on their overall preference. More Deal Information: This model was available for 30% off over the July 4th holiday, so it may be worth waiting for Labor Day weekend to get the best price. Couples and side sleepers—especially those with hip or shoulder pain—will get the most out of this Nolah mattress. The bed delivers several layers of support and comes in three firmness levels to accommodate different sleeping preferences and body types. For instance, we recommend the plush model for dedicated side sleepers who don't change positions much throughout the night. More Deal Information: Nolah often offers 35% off over holiday weekends, so you may be able to score a little extra savings if you're willing to wait.
