Massive $7 billion order for private jets raises eyebrows: 'This report presents further proof ...'
The company, which offers "fractional ownership" of jets — allowing users to purchase a share of a jet for a set amount of time — placed an order with Embraer Executive Jets that is valued at up to $7 billion. The deal guarantees Flexjet 182 new aircraft, with options for 30 more and an extended service agreement, Forbes reported.
The vast majority of these new aircraft will be Praetors, which is Embraer's larger model.

The move is seen as a positive for the ultrawealthy, who are the typical users of private aviation. It's less encouraging, however, for those who care about the changing climate.
Commercial aviation is responsible for about 4% of global heat-trapping gases, which pollute the air and cause rising temperatures. Private jets typically have only a handful of people on board and often fly short distances (about half of flights were 310 miles or less), making it the most energy-intensive form of flying.
Private jets still make up a small portion of the total commercial-aviation landscape, but the sector is growing rapidly. A study published in Nature found that pollution from private flights increased by 46% between 2019 and 2023.
"This report presents further proof that billionaires are causing the climate crisis," Jonathan Westin, executive director of the Climate Organizing Hub, told PBS. "They are clinging to their private jets and oil profits while regular people see increasing floods, hurricanes, and wildfires."
Fortunately, while some companies are actively making Earth more polluted with their aviation decisions, others are working toward solutions.
There are also promising developments in the private sector for aviation's future. Several companies are developing hybrid or fully electric aircraft, with test flights proving successful. One is looking at how to turn polluted air from a cement factory into cleaner jet fuel.

The White House official told Forbes the dynamic scorecards 'incorporate the support of present and future administration initiatives.' In addition to considering companies' support of Trump's agenda, the scorecards also take into account companies' social media posts, press releases, video testimonials, advertisements and attendance at White House events, Axios reported, noting companies' support is ranked as strong, moderate or low. Axios cited as examples of 'good' partners United, Delta, Uber, DoorDash, AT&T, Cisco, Airlines for America and the Steel Manufacturers Association. An unnamed White House staffer told Axios the scorecards help 'us see who really goes out and helps vs. those who just come in and pay lip service,' adding the gradings can change if 'companies want to start advocating more now for the tax bill or additional administration priorities.' How Have Companies With Positive Grades Supported The Trump Administration? Delta and United lauded a provision within Trump's megabill calling for a $12.5 billion investment for upgrading air traffic control systems, which came months after a passenger airliner crashed into an Army helicopter at Reagan National Airport, killing 67. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, who donated $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund, publicly supported Trump's "No Tax on Tips" policy implemented through the megabill. Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins also supported the bill and its corporate tax provisions. What Other Companies May Have Positive Grades? In addition to supporting the 'Big Beautiful Bill,' companies that have made investments into the U.S. economy may also receive positive grades. Apple is one of the largest tech companies likely in the good graces of the Trump administration, as the iPhone maker has committed $600 billion to domestic manufacturing slated to bring tens of thousands of jobs to the U.S. Amazon has made multiple multibillion-dollar investments in domestic cloud computing infrastructure, data centers and rural delivery networks, tacking on to other infrastructure and manufacturing investments from companies like NVIDIA, IBM and Johnson & Johnson. Companies like Amazon, Meta and Google have pulled back diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives targeted by the Trump administration, which could curry favor with Trump. What Companies Has Trump Criticized? Trump has had friction with some companies publicly, though it is not clear what companies have low marks, if any. Trump recently told CNBC that Bank of America and JPMorgan rejected him as a customer, adding fuel to conservatives' claims they are discriminated against by big banks. Trump also called for the ouster of Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan this month over concerns about his business connections to hundreds of Chinese businesses, saying there was 'no other solution to the problem.' Days later, following a meeting between Trump and Tan, reports surfaced that the Trump administration may be considering a stake in the tech company. Key Background Trump has applied pressure on various companies to push his opposition to DEI initiatives, encourage domestic manufacturing and infrastructure and even get Coca-Cola to bring the cane sugar version of its flagship product to the U.S. One poignant example of the administration's power came when the Federal Communications Commission approved an $8 billion merger between Paramount and Skydance Media, with Skydance vowing to end DEI considerations in hiring, promotions, development and compensation. Vancouver Gears Up For WNBA Canada Game
The third edition of the WNBA Canada Game will feature the Atlanta Dream and the Seattle Storm in a regular-season matchup at Rogers Arena, marking the first WNBA regular season game held outside the United States. The event has drawn strong corporate support alongside its fan engagement efforts. Following sold out games in Toronto (2023) and Edmonton (2024), league officials expect another strong turnout. The WNBA has expanded its footprint in Canada in recent years through partnerships, grassroots programs and media distribution deals, aiming to meet growing demand from Canadian fans. A league representative told Forbes that only a few hundred tickets remain for the game, with several groups attending, including a girls' basketball team being flown into the city. Players from local women's sports teams, the Vancouver Rise and PWHL Vancouver, are also expected to make appearances. The league also announced that 15 Canadian marketing and retail partners will support the 2025 WNBA Canada Game through a mix of fan experiences, brand promotions and community programming in Vancouver. Tangerine Bank will offer pregame shooting challenges and courtside ticket giveaways. TOGETHXR events Media company TOGETHXR will host two community events during the week. On Thursday, it will partner with the Vancouver Basketball Foundation for a private clinic at Victory's Court, inviting 30 middle school girls to participate in drills and 3x3 games. Participants will receive TOGETHXR merchandise and giveaways from the Storm. On Friday, during game time, TOGETHXR will co-host a public watch party at Courtside on Main, a Vancouver basketball-themed bar. The venue will be decorated with WNBA jerseys, memorabilia, banners and flags. The first 50 attendees will receive a free 'Everyone Watches Sports' T-shirt, with on-site customization available. The event will also feature a DJ, food, drinks and giveaways celebrating Vancouver's women's sports fans.
