Shila Amzah Defends Nabila Huda Following Assault Allegations

Hype Malaysia14-07-2025
Being attacked by obsessive fans is already a terrifying experience, one that many celebrities have faced. But to be assaulted by a fellow artist within the same industry can shatter your sense of trust in those you once believed you were safe around.
Recently, singer Shila Amzah alleged that she was assaulted by a veteran artist. After identifying the individual involved, she urged fans not to drag a particular actress into the issue, clarifying that the actress had no connection to the incident. Here's the full story:
Shila Amzah revealed that she was recently assaulted by a veteran singer during a rehearsal session for a concert. Following the incident, she lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters on 10th July. The investigation is currently ongoing, with several witnesses having been called in to provide statements.
The songstress claimed that the attack stemmed from something she had posted on social media. Since then, speculation has swirled over the identity of the perpetrator, with some accusing Datuk Awie, who was part of the concert lineup. However, the mother-of-two later clarified that it was Datuk Amy Search, who also happens to be actress Nabila Huda's father.
Fans have since flooded the actress's social media accounts, urging her to speak out about the situation involving her father. Upon learning of this, Shila Amzah once again stepped forward to defend the 40-year-old star, stressing that she had nothing to do with the incident.
'I've said my piece. Please do not associate [Nabila] with this matter. Another thing — please find the cause of this issue. He was not alone. In the 17 years I've known his name, he's never acted this way,' she wrote on her Instagram Stories. Meanwhile, Nabila Huda has not directly addressed the incident but posted a cryptic monologue on her Instagram.
In the video, the actress appeared to defend her father, saying that he had always been kind, calm and humble, but everything changed when a woman with the title of 'Datin' came into the picture. 'Look at what you've done. Now he has to bear the consequences of your actions,' she said in the clip. According to the captions, Nabila was apparently rehearsing lines for her next project, but the timing of the post could say otherwise. Was it really scripted, or was she indirectly addressing those words to a certain individual?

‘Where's Fadhlina?': Student activists demand Education Minister quit over handling of Zara Qairina death, bullying crisis

Demonstrators gather to protest against Fadhlina in front of the Ministry of Education building in Putrajaya. — Malay Mail photo PUTRAJAYA (Aug 21): A few dozens student activists today protested in front of the Education Ministry, criticising Minister Fadhlina Sidek's handling of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir's death and calling for her resignation. The protest, which began around 11am, saw participants holding placards reading 'Justice for Zara,' 'Turun Lina,' 'Stop Bully,' and 'Malaysia Tolak Pembuli.' They gathered just a few metres from the ministry's entrance, where a line of auxiliary police formed a barricade. The activists listed six demands to Fadhlina, which they say must be addressed within 30 days: Establish psychosocial support systems in schools Establish mandatory training for teachers and hostel wardens Implement a parent education module: bullying starts at home Ensure independent and transparent school monitoring Make a national anti-bullying plan an official agenda Additional measures to safeguard students 'Failure to meet these demands, Fadhlina must step down from her post,' said Azamuddin Sahar of the Malaysian Muslim Students Coalition (Gamis). Zara Qairina died at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital on July 17, a day after being found unconscious in a drain near the hostel of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Tun Datu Mustapha di Papar. Five teenage girls has since been charged in Kota Kinabalu's Children's Court over alleged abusive words. Their identities cannot be revealed under the Child Act 2001, which guarantees their privacy. The rally today continued with speeches as seven police officers observed the protest. 'Fadhlina must be held accountable because, so far, nothing has been done regarding Zara's case and the issue of bullying,' said Tang Yi Ze, president of the Universiti Malaya Association of New Youth (Umany). 'Systemic failures contributed to her death, and similar incidents may be happening elsewhere without our knowledge. This is not an isolated case; bullying like this has been happening for a long time,' he added. Brendon Gan, president of Himpunan Advokasi Rakyat Malaysia (Haram), said Fadhlina should have gone straight to the ground instead of implementing 'syok sendiri' policies. Gan pointed to initiatives such as the 'Anti-Bullying' slogan campaign, the reward scheme for 'bully-free schools,' and the RM8.4 million purchase of Jalur Gemilang pins. 'None of these address the real root causes of the crisis,' he added. The protest was organised by Gamis and Haram, and joined by groups including Umany, Demokrat UKM, and United Muslim Malaysia. Azamuddin said they would not leave the protest spot until Fadhlina personally met them to hear their demands. However, Faiz Rashid, a representative from the minister's office, received the demands on her behalf. The protest ended around 12.30pm with chants of 'Where's Fadhlina?' — Malay Mail Fadhlina Sidek lead Zara Qairina Mahathir

Teacher charged with public mischief over statement in connection with Zara's death

SEPANG: An English teacher was charged at a Sepang Magistrate's Court on Thursday (Aug 21) with making a statement likely to cause public alarm over the death of Form 1 student Zara Qairina Mahathir, Sinar Harian reports. The accused, Siti Hajar Aflah Shaharuddin, however, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani after the charge was read during the proceedings on Thursday morning, the Malay language daily reported. "I plead not guilty," said Siti Hajar. The prosecution, led by Deputy Public Prosecutors Nadia Mohd Izhar and Christhoper Enteri Mawan, was conducted under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to two years in prison, a fine, or both, upon conviction. According to the charge, Siti Hajar, 39, was accused of making a statement that could cause public alarm and incite someone to commit an offence against public tranquility via the TikTok account SHA_Abrienda. The offence was allegedly committed by the English teacher, who works at a secondary school in Rawang, Selangor, at 1:20pm on Aug 6, where the statement was seen by a police officer at KL International Airport (KLIA). Lawyer Mohamad Zaiful Bahrin Kamde requested that the court grant a minimal bail, considering his client had cooperated well with the authorities throughout the investigation. "During the investigation, the accused voluntarily surrendered to the police and was not remanded. Clearly, the accused is not a flight risk. "The accused is a single mother of three school-going children aged 12, 11, and 10, and also supports her parents," he said. Magistrate Khairatul Animah granted bail at RM4,000 with one surety and set Oct 4 as the date for document submission. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Comm Datuk M. Kumar said, in a press conference on Aug 1, that a 39-year-old woman was also detained in Rawang, Selangor, for allegedly spreading false information regarding the case. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail revealed that the teacher admitted that her TikTok content claiming Zara Qairina died after being placed in a washing machine was merely for "content". Zara Qairina, a student of SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha, was found unconscious near a drain after allegedly falling from the third floor of the school dormitory on July 16. She subsequently passed away on July 17, a day later.
