EGA named Sector Partner for Advanced Infrastructure at Make it in the Emirates
Taking place at Adnec Centre Abu Dhabi from May 19 to 22, 2025, the event will host over 700 exhibitors and welcome 30,000 visitors across 68,000 square meters of exhibition space, spanning 12 key industrial sectors.
As the Sector Partner for Advanced Infrastructure, Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) — one of the world's biggest aluminium producers and the UAE's largest industrial company outside oil and gas — plays a crucial role in bolstering domestic manufacturing and driving industrial self-sufficiency.
The upcoming edition will provide a leading platform to spotlight the latest advancements in industry, strengthen collaboration, and showcase investment opportunities — further cementing Abu Dhabi's role as a global centre for industrial innovation, strategic partnerships, and investment.

Every year, we spend some 40% of our global procurement spend here in the UAE – for 2024, that was more than AED 8 billion spent on locally-sourced services and goods. Make it in the Emirates 2025 is hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, organised by Adnec Group, and held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, and Adnoc. The event serves as a global platform for investment, collaboration, and innovation.
For nearly 50 years, EGA has been a pioneer of the UAE's industrial sector, helping position the nation as the world's fifth largest aluminium producer and exporting to over 50 countries. Its integrated global operations—from bauxite mining to alumina refining, smelting, and recycling—reflects Make it in the Emirates' focus on sustainability and innovation. The aluminium sector supports over 52,000 jobs, with EGA's metal fuelling industries like construction, automotive, aerospace, electronics, and packaging. Around 10% of EGA's metal is sold locally to firms manufacturing for domestic and global markets. In 2024, EGA began developing its first UAE aluminium recycling facility—at 170,000 tonnes per year, the largest in the UAE—marking a major step in circular industrial development.

Abu Dhabi Gears Up for Biggest Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition Yet
Abu Dhabi is preparing to host the largest-ever edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) from August 30 to September 7, 2025, at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Tamkeen-Skills Bahrain Highlights Emerging Jobs and Key Insights from the Manufacturing Sector Skills Report at the ‘Future Skills – Manufacturing' Event
Skills Bahrain, an initiative under the umbrella of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), held the 'Future Skills – Manufacturing' event, bringing together key stakeholders from Bahrain's manufacturing industry to discuss the findings of the latest Manufacturing Sector Skills Report developed by Skills Bahrain. The Manufacturing Sector Skills Report sheds light on labor market trends, skills in demand and emerging jobs in the manufacturing sector, it also highlights the significant transformation in the skills landscape, driven by the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies. Among the most in-demand roles in the sector are Research and Development Scientists, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Experts, Materials Engineers, and Digital Transformation Specialists, along with other fast-growing jobs. The report also underscores the importance of mastering technical skills such as Data Analysis and Big Data Management, Machine Operation, and project management, reflecting the growing need to develop national talent capable of meeting the evolving demands of the manufacturing sector. As part of the event, a panel discussion brought together representatives from key stakeholders, including Mr. Ahmed Shaheen – Associate Director of Sector Skills Development Skills Bahrain, Mr. Khalid Salman Al Qassimi – Director of Industrial Development at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and Ms. Yusra Al Hussaini – Chief of Business Development and Lifelong Learning– Polytechnic Bahrain. UAE's Air Arabia To Co-Launch Saudi Low-Cost Airline Flying 81 Routes From Dammam Hub
Saudi Arabia is launching a new national low-cost airline, with operations based out of King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, as part of a broader push to transform the Kingdom into a regional aviation hub. The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced that a consortium led by UAE-based Air Arabia, Kun Investment Holding and Nesma Holding, has won the bid to operate the new carrier. The airline will begin operations with a fleet of 45 aircraft, covering 24 domestic and 57 international destinations, and aims to serve 10 million passengers annually. This expansion is part of Saudi Arabia's National Transport and Logistics Strategy, a key component of Vision 2030, which seeks to diversify the economy and enhance the Kingdom's competitiveness in transport, logistics, and tourism. According to GACA, the new low-cost airline will enhance air connectivity to and from the Eastern Province, improve operational efficiency, and boost seat availability at King Fahd International Airport. The airline is also expected to create more than 2,400 direct jobs and raise service quality across Saudi Arabia's growing aviation market. Air Arabia's inclusion in the consortium reflects its expanding regional footprint and aligns with its strategy of entering high-growth partnerships to serve underserved routes. This latest venture positions the Dammam airport as a growing hub for affordable air travel and supports the Kingdom's goal of moving 100 million passengers annually by the end of the decade.
