Over R800 000 raised for family of slain SA stewardess Paige Bell
Bell was working as a stewardess on the luxury vessel, named Far From It, and was discovered dead in the engine room, with investigators reportedly indicating there were signs of a violent struggle, with multiple stab wounds and evidence suggesting a possible sexual assault.
The South Africa woman was found alongside the man suspected of killing her, a 39-year-old Mexican national, who has appeared in a New Providence magistrates' court and was denied bail. He had been found with a severe injury to his arm, which police suspected was the result of a suicide attempt.
A GoFundMe to raise money for Bell's parents was launched by various former colleagues on a different yacht, Motor Yacht Sweet Emocean, where she worked until December last year.
It has already raised over $45,000 (roughly around R810 000) and counting.
The GoFundMe post was titled: In Loving Memory of Paige – Supporting her family.
'Paige worked on Motor Yacht Sweet Emocean until December of 2024 but will always be a part of the family,' it reads.
'She would have celebrated her 21st birthday on July 14th. In honor of Paige, her mother has asked that we all eat red velvet cake (her favorite) on that day and share a photo in remembrance of the beautiful soul she was.
'Paige was more than a teammate, she was family. Her radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless compassion made an unforgettable impact on everyone lucky enough to know her. Whether it was long days at sea or quiet moments under the stars, she brought light and warmth wherever she went.
'In this difficult time, we want to come together to support the people she loved most, her family. We've set up this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden they now face. All donations will go directly to the Bell family.
'Every contribution, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated. If you're unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us. We also ask for your prayers for strength, comfort, and peace for her family and all who loved her.
'Whether you choose to donate, share a memory, or simply say a prayer, every gesture matters. Paige touched so many lives. Let's come together to honour hers.'
In a statement shared on Facebook, Bell's family expressed their grief.
'It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating news that our beautiful Paigey's life was brutally taken from us last night,' they said. 'As a family, we are doing our best to process this unimaginable loss. We kindly ask for understanding and sensitivity during this incredibly difficult time.' Post your condolences, by …

Joburg DA calls for Kenny Kunene's axing after he was found at home of suspect in DJ Sumbody's murder
JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Johannesburg is calling for MMC for Transport Kenny Kunene to be fired after he was found at the home of a policeman suspected to be behind the murder of DJ Sumbody. News24 reported that when police arrived to arrest Katiso "KT" Molefe at his Sandton home on Monday, Kunene was there. In an interview on one of the news channels, Kunene said that he was there accompanying a young journalist who was interviewing Molefe for his media website, Africa News Global. But DA Johannesburg caucus leader, Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku, said that Kunene's role as transport MMC was now untenable. "The Democratic Alliance (DA) calls for Kunene's immediate resignation, and if he will not resign, Mayor Dada Morero must fire him. The laughable alibi offered by Kunene on eNCA this afternoon must be rejected out of hand by any reasonable South African."
