According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force, officers found a woman 'unresponsive with visible signs of injuries' in the engine room of the vessel shortly after 1 p.m. on July 3, which was docked at Harbour Island. Police said the woman was missing for a short period of time before she was discovered 'with the male suspect present," police wrote in a statement posted on Facebook. Police believe the suspect — a 39-year-old Mexican national — attempted suicide and was "suffering from severe injuries to his arms." A local doctor boarded the vessel and pronounced the woman deceased. The victim was identified by local outlet Our News and her family on Facebook as Paige Bell. 'It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating news that our beautiful Paigey's life was brutally taken from us last night,' the family wrote on July 4. 'As a family, we are doing our best to process this unimaginable loss … We will leave no stone unturned until the guilty is brought to justice. ' Police said the suspect was 'apprehended, cautioned, and taken to a nearby clinic for medical treatment.' He was arraigned on Wednesday, July 9 in the Magistrate Court, and charged with murder, police said. According to a GoFundMe page, Bell 'would have celebrated her 21st birthday on July 14th.' 'In honor of Paige, her mother has asked that we all eat red velvet cake (her favorite) on that day and share a photo in remembrance of the beautiful soul she was,' the fundraiser stated.'Paige was more than a teammate, she was family. Her radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless compassion made an unforgettable impact on everyone lucky enough to know her. Whether it was long days at sea or quiet moments under the stars, she brought light and warmth wherever she went.' Bell had previously worked on the Motor Yacht Sweet Emocean until December 2024. So far, the page has raised more than $42,000. The suspect appeared in court on Wednesday, July 9 and was denied bail, Our News reported. He will return to court on November 20. Superyacht stewardess found dead with throat slashed in boat's engine room

A young superyacht stewardess has been found dead with her throat slit inside the boat's engine room during a Bahamas trip. Paige Bell, 20, was found dead last Thursday while the luxury boat, Far From It, was moored on Harbour Island. She was discovered partially undressed with wounds to her neck and injuries to her arms. Boat engineer Brigido Munoz, 39, has been charged with her murder. He was denied bail and remanded in custody. Paige, from Johannesburg, South Africa, was due to turn 21 next week, with a celebration planned to mark her birthday on Monday. She was reported missing while on the boat, with colleagues saying they had not seen her for some time. Officers then discovered her in the engine room with Munoz who had injuries to his arm which police said are consistent with a suicide attempt. Munoz was taken to hospital and later charged with her murder. Far From It hosts up to 10 guests with nine crew members, and included five suites. It costs between £100,000 and £120,000 per week for vacations. Former colleagues from Motor Yacht Sweet Emocean, where Paige worked until December 2024, wrote on a tribute to her on a GoFundMe page. They said: 'Paige was more than a teammate, she was family. 'Her radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless compassion made an unforgettable impact on everyone lucky enough to know her. 'Whether it was long days at sea or quiet moments under the stars, she brought light and warmth wherever she went.' Paige's mum is now asking everyone to eat red velvet cake, which was daughter's favourite, and share a photo in her memory. The GoFundMe page, which has already raised $42,000 of its initial $16,000 target, included tributes from friends. One described Paife as a 'golden girl', and described her death as 'despicable'. Over R800 000 raised for family of slain SA stewardess Paige Bell

In tragic news that recently came to light, 20-year-old South African Paige Bell was found dead on board a luxury yacht in an incident that police are treating as murder. The 42-foot charter yacht was docked at Harbour Island, a popular luxury vacation destination in the Bahamas. Bell was working as a stewardess on the luxury vessel, named Far From It, and was discovered dead in the engine room, with investigators reportedly indicating there were signs of a violent struggle, with multiple stab wounds and evidence suggesting a possible sexual assault. The South Africa woman was found alongside the man suspected of killing her, a 39-year-old Mexican national, who has appeared in a New Providence magistrates' court and was denied bail. He had been found with a severe injury to his arm, which police suspected was the result of a suicide attempt. A GoFundMe to raise money for Bell's parents was launched by various former colleagues on a different yacht, Motor Yacht Sweet Emocean, where she worked until December last year. It has already raised over $45,000 (roughly around R810 000) and counting. The GoFundMe post was titled: In Loving Memory of Paige – Supporting her family. 'Paige worked on Motor Yacht Sweet Emocean until December of 2024 but will always be a part of the family,' it reads. 'She would have celebrated her 21st birthday on July 14th. In honor of Paige, her mother has asked that we all eat red velvet cake (her favorite) on that day and share a photo in remembrance of the beautiful soul she was. 'Paige was more than a teammate, she was family. Her radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless compassion made an unforgettable impact on everyone lucky enough to know her. Whether it was long days at sea or quiet moments under the stars, she brought light and warmth wherever she went. 'In this difficult time, we want to come together to support the people she loved most, her family. We've set up this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden they now face. All donations will go directly to the Bell family. 'Every contribution, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated. If you're unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us. We also ask for your prayers for strength, comfort, and peace for her family and all who loved her. 'Whether you choose to donate, share a memory, or simply say a prayer, every gesture matters. Paige touched so many lives. Let's come together to honour hers.' In a statement shared on Facebook, Bell's family expressed their grief. 'It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating news that our beautiful Paigey's life was brutally taken from us last night,' they said. 'As a family, we are doing our best to process this unimaginable loss. We kindly ask for understanding and sensitivity during this incredibly difficult time.'
