The suspect is a 39-year-old Mexican nationalA 20-year-old South African woman was allegedly killed on board a luxury yacht in the Bahamas.
According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force, officers found a woman 'unresponsive with visible signs of injuries' in the engine room of the vessel shortly after 1 p.m. on July 3, which was docked at Harbour Island.
Police said the woman was missing for a short period of time before she was discovered 'with the male suspect present," police wrote in a statement posted on Facebook.
Police believe the suspect — a 39-year-old Mexican national — attempted suicide and was "suffering from severe injuries to his arms."
A local doctor boarded the vessel and pronounced the woman deceased.
The victim was identified by local outlet Our News and her family on Facebook as Paige Bell.
'It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating news that our beautiful Paigey's life was brutally taken from us last night,' the family wrote on July 4.
'As a family, we are doing our best to process this unimaginable loss … We will leave no stone unturned until the guilty is brought to justice. '
Police said the suspect was 'apprehended, cautioned, and taken to a nearby clinic for medical treatment.'
He was arraigned on Wednesday, July 9 in the Magistrate Court, and charged with murder, police said.
According to a GoFundMe page, Bell 'would have celebrated her 21st birthday on July 14th.'
'In honor of Paige, her mother has asked that we all eat red velvet cake (her favorite) on that day and share a photo in remembrance of the beautiful soul she was,' the fundraiser stated.'Paige was more than a teammate, she was family. Her radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless compassion made an unforgettable impact on everyone lucky enough to know her. Whether it was long days at sea or quiet moments under the stars, she brought light and warmth wherever she went.'
Bell had previously worked on the Motor Yacht Sweet Emocean until December 2024.
So far, the page has raised more than $42,000.
The suspect appeared in court on Wednesday, July 9 and was denied bail, Our News reported. He will return to court on November 20.

Niles grocery store raising money for family of employee killed in suspected DUI collision
Owners of a local grocery story are expressing their condolences for the death of one of their employees by hosting online and in-store fundraisers for her and the woman's surviving family members. Bogdana Mygal, 33, of Des Plaines, was pronounced dead July 5 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville after being transported there following a multi-vehicle collision in a Lake County suburb. A man is facing driving under the influence charges in connection with the fatal incident that also saw Mygal's husband and 4-year-old daughter sustain injuries. 'She came from the Ukraine with her husband and no other family. They came here to have a better life. She wanted the best for her and her family. Her daughter was her world. It just breaks my heart,' Joanna Antonik, co-owner of Deli 4 You Market, told Pioneer Press by phone. Deli 4 You Market, a full-line Polish and European grocery store chain, has five Chicagoland locations, including in Norridge and Niles – the latter is where Mygal worked for three years before her death. Antonik owns the stores with her mother, Margaret. 'We always enjoyed working with her. She was extremely liked, super nice to customers, co-workers, and so helpful. She was a wonderful person,' said Antonik. The Niles store has set up a memorial at the cash register where Mygal usually worked. Also at the check out lane is a jar where people can deposit cash as part of a fundraiser. An online fundraiser is running on the GoFundMe website where, as of Tuesday, more than $54,000 has been raised. The initial goal was $50,000 but is now changed to $70,000. Antonik said she and her mother also plan to provide food from the store to the family as the fundraising is managed. Andrew Willard, 58, of the 600 block of West Natalie Lane, Addison, was charged July 8 with aggravated DUI causing death, DUI and traffic violations for allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed and failing to stop at a stop sign at Frontage Road, striking both the vehicle Mygal was in with her family and another vehicle – which were both stopped at the intersection. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle, as well as Willard, suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries, Covelli said. 'Crash investigators believe Willard was more than twice the legal limit for alcohol when he crashed,' according to a sheriff's office news release. Willard is being held in the Lake County Jail on pre-trial detention. He is scheduled to appear in court again July 30. Mygal started working as a cashier at Deli 4 You three years ago when the deli opened in Niles, Antonik said. 'It's a nice downhill stretch, and the deer came out of the woods, barreling down, and hit the woman,' race director Jim Stasaitis told the outlet. 'It's just one of those freak accidents.' It was a 'good-sized doe,' another runner, Gregory Yorton, who saw it come out of the woods, said. He shared that other runners assisted her as he yelled for a medic. 'You just don't expect deer to jump out,' Ana Peckham, who saw the collision, told the Utica Observer-Dispatch. 'That was crazy.' 'You could tell that the deer was, like, panicked, too,' she added about the animal, which ran back into the woods. The woman was treated for a head and leg injury on site before she was transported in an ambulance to a local hospital. She's since been transferred to Syracuse's Upstate University Hospital. Photos that appeared to be of the woman online showed her with a bruised face, black eye, and bloody ear as she lay by the side of road, while being tended to by medics. She wasn't the only one who ended the race in the hospital, as others struggled with the heat; A total of 77 runners — out of nearly 8,500 — were treated for heat exhaustion at the finish line medical tent, with reporting that six ended up being transported to the hospital for further care.
