LCD Soundsystem at Brixton Academy: 'beg, borrow or steal for a ticket'

The truth is, a little intimacy suits LCD Soundsystem. Blame it on his background in hardcore punk, or the road to Damascus-style conversion to techno he enjoyed in his late 20s, but the 55-year-old frontman's most frenetic, sweat-soaked songwriting really thrives in conditions like these. The fevered electro-punk of early single Movement was a case in point, with last night's rabid rendition provoking a circle pit. Similarly, it was a thrill to finally witness the scuzzy strut of 2024-track X-Ray Eyes in all its whites-of-their-eyes fervour, while the colossal drop in Dance Yrself Clean felt even more impactful unleashed in a smaller space.

Soccer Aid 2025: Dermot O'Leary's real name, famous wife and painful health admission

Soccer Aid 2025: Dermot O'Leary's real name, famous wife and painful health admission The This Morning presenter will front coverage of Soccer Aid 2025 from Old Trafford on Sunday Dermot O'Leary has presented Soccer Aid since 2010. (Image: (Photo by Dave) ) Dermot O'Leary will front the coverage of Soccer Aid for the 15th year in a row. The iconic British TV presenter has been a staple on our screens for the last two decades, and was the face of X-Factor between 2007 until it's final season in 2018, with a break in 2015. O'Leary was therefore on board for the ignition of pop star group One Direction in 2010, as well as Little Mix one year later. Alongside X-Factor, he has co-presented on This Morning, as well as fronting a weekend morning show for BBC Radio Two. ‌ UNICEF's Soccer Aid has been a constant throughout his career, and the 52-year-old is an ambassador for the humanitarian aid organisation. ‌ Speaking about the upcoming event, O'Leary touched on it's importance, which is especially apparent as a parent. "Soccer Aid for UNICEF is an incredibly special event – and means a great deal to me personally as a UNICEF UK Ambassador, host and producer, but even more so as a parent," he explained. "The game this year is on Father's Day, so it takes on even more significance. Buying a ticket for this year's star-studded match will help UNICEF give children everywhere a chance to grow up happy, healthy and with hope for the brightest future possible. I know it's going to be an absolutely fantastic night at Old Trafford." Soccer Aid kicks off at 7.30pm UK time on Sunday, June 15 at Old Trafford in Manchester. Article continues below Dermot O'Leary's real name Something that may surprise many readers is that O'Leary doesn't use his full name. However, the Colchester-born presenter does include parts of it. Legally, he is Seán Dermot Fintan O'Leary Jr, although he tends not to use that in every day life. The name comes from Ireland, with his parents emigrating to Essex, England, back in 1968, and O'Leary being born five years later. ‌ Although he doesn't class himself as being 'from Ireland', he says that he is still connected to his roots. "I always describe myself as, I'm Irish but not from Ireland, if that makes sense...," explained O'Leary to RTE Radio One. "I've had an Irish passport since I was a kid and I've never had a British passport. And I don't hold that as, like, a badge of honour or anything, it's just something that happened. They never forced that [Irish] identity down our throats, it just felt very natural for us." ‌ Famous wife O'Leary is married to TV and film producer Dee Koppang O'Leary. Koppang was born in Oslo, Norway, but moved to the UK as a child following the separation of her parents. She attended St Lawrence College in Ramsgate in the 1990s. She is a renowned producer, working as part of the team that produced Netflix smash hits The Crown and Bridgerton, as well as BBC drama The Split. ‌ O'Leary and Koppang met in 2002, with O'Leary proposing in 2011 and marrying her a year later at Chiddingstone Castle. James Corden, Chris O'Dowd and Bear Grylls were some of the celebrities in attendance. The couple have one child together - Kasper - who was born in June 2020. They reside in Primrose Hill in north London and also have two rescue cats - Toto and Socks. Health battle Presenter O'Leary has spoken openly about his struggles with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. ‌ The condition affects the jaw joint and surrounding muscles, and can cause pain, restricted jaw movement and clicking/popping sounds. This pain can extend to face, neck or shoulders, and can significantly impact day-to-day activities. In April, O'Leary revealed on This Morning that he had been experiencing "massively painful" TMJ issues, causing him pain every time he ate. He first ignored the pain, before sourcing a physiotherapist. "I woke up last half term in October, out of nowhere and every time I opened my mouth to eat something, I got a massive pain around here," he explained. Article continues below "I ignored it for a bit because I'm a man and then finally got it… went to go and see an ear, nose and throat specialist, and he sent me to you (physiotherapist Krina Panchal)."

EXCLUSIVE What, no waistcoats? After Gareth, the Southgates' get a new (and even more glamorous!) fashion influencer

Her father made waves on the internet with his pitch-side fashion choices – remember that waistcoat? Now Sir Gareth Southgate 's daughter is following in his footsteps as a hotshot fashion influencer. While he is a private man with no social media accounts, Mia Southgate is the opposite. The 24-year-old shows off her outfits to 25,000 followers and offers glimpses of the family's historic Swinsty Hall mansion in Timble, north Yorkshire. She has collaborated with brands such as Next, Caudalie, a skincare firm, and Citizens of Humanity, a jeans brand, and earns money through affiliate links from clothes and items she has worn – though how much is a mystery. Mia has also recruited her mother, Alison Southgate, 57, for help promote content. They feature in multiple videos, where the mother-daughter duo show off their outfits for different events and swap items from each other's wardrobes – Mia having her own wardrobe room. One video caption reads: 'Getting dressed with my bestie.' Miss Southgate was recruited in April by the agency Blush Talent Management, an arm of digital fashion blog Sheer Luxe. She has written blog posts about 'what a cool content creator has on her wish-list' and starred in videos for 600,000 Sheer Luxe followers. Mia also works for upmarket high-street brand Mint Velvet as a senior social media assistant where she and Lady Southgate regularly feature on its social media pages. Another recent deal was with luxury car maker Bentley, where she told followers she had been lent the car in return for a social media post. Her father is conspicuously absent from her media posts despite having a proven track record of boosting brands. His appearances in a fitted waistcoat at the 2018 World Cup caused a 35 per cent rise in sales of them at M&S.

Scandalized Shannon Sharpe apologizes to Nicki Minaj over 'misunderstanding'

Shannon Sharpe has apologized to Nicki Minaj after the rapper took a shot at him in her new song, mistakenly thinking he had mocked her on social media. Her 'Banned from No' remix with Lil Wayne hit No. 1 on itunes this week. One line in the song - 'If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain't that sharp' - appeared to take aim the former NFL player, who in April was accused of rape in a lawsuit. He denies the allegations. Minaj seemed to have taken an issue with Sharpe when, in February 2024 on X, a fan told Sharp that 'Nicki' said she wanted to be on his podcast. 'Nicki who?' Sharpe replied. He has since explained that he thought Nicki meant Nikki Haley as he had recently discussed her on his show. The fan actually meant Minaj, who had spoken about Sharpe's podcast in an interview. But the initial remark obvioulsy didn't go down well with Minaj, who wrote on X: 'If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain't that sharp!!!! You thought I forgot that 'Nicki who' s*** you did?' A follower then sent her a video of Sharpe explaining the misunderstanding, where his co-host Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson said he was going to text Minaj and tell her what really happened. It seems that message might have not been sent, judging by Minaj's seemingly surprised reaction on X to one of her followers telling her Sharpe was sorry. 'LOL - well we got a funny lil rap bar out of it,' Minaj wrote. 'Thank you, Shannon b/c I was like 'what I done did now?' You never cleared it up to the Barbz so I had to avenge them.' In the segment tweeted to Minaj, Sharpe explained: 'I used to go back and forth with people. I was talking about Nikki Haley. Nikki Haley said it's really great for everybody of black America, and I was like … 'When has it ever been great?' 'Nicki, I was not trying to be disrespectful. Of course I know who you are. I would be remiss to say that I thought you knew who I was, or that you knew anything about 'Club Shay Shay.' I'm not that arrogant. 'Nicki, I apologize. I meant no disrespect. You'll always have an open invitation if you ever want to come sit down and have a conversation. 'Even if you just want to have a private conversation on the phone or something. It won't go any further between you and I.' Sharpe stepped away from his duties as an ESPN host on its 'First Take' show as backlash following the rape lawsuit intensified. 'At this juncture I am electing to step aside temporarily from my ESPN duties,' Sharpe said in a statement back in April. 'I will be devoting this time to my family, and responding and dealing with these false and disruptive allegations set against me. I plan to return to ESPN at the start of the NFL preseason.'
