Tokischa Is Finally Ready To Release An Album To 'Let It All Out' - And It Won't Be What You Expect
On their first collaborative effort, Ryan Castro and Grupo Frontera unwrap 'Apodo' (nickname): Produced by Latin hitmaker Edgar Barrera, and co-written by Barrera, Castro, and Andrés Jael Correa Rios, the song laces Frontera's modern-day norteño melodies around Castro's breezy Caribbean reggae beats. Sonically, the tune is laid-back and fun, but lyrically, it's heart-wrenching, referring to a person who was not loved nor respected in a relationship. 'It doesn't hurt to see you with another man/ it hurts that you gave this love another name/ almost something/ a madness/ a hook-up/ an adventure/ the mistake of your life,' says the catchy but heartbreaking chorus. The music video—showcasing both act's fun vibes and chemistry—was filmed in McAllen, Texas, where Grupo Frontera and Barrera are from. — JESSICA ROIZ
Carlos Vives, Grupo Niche, 'La Tierra del Olvido' (Versión Salsa) (Gaira Música Local)
The Pacific and the Colombian Caribbean embrace in this salsa version of 'La Tierra del Olvido' (The Land of Oblivion), a Carlos Vives classic that now takes on a new life alongside the legendary Grupo Niche. This profoundly Colombian tribute unites two of the country's most representative genres: Vives' signature vallenato-pop and the Cali salsa that Niche has brought to the world. In the performance, the voices alternate fluidly, and the salsa-inspired arrangement reaches its climax in the musical bridge, as they chant: 'Waiting for you to come back / with me / to the land of oblivion.'
The song doesn't need a complex video: it shows Vives and Grupo Niche in the studio, sharing the energy of the recording and performing salsa moves. Also interspersed are images from the original video and a touching nod to maestro Jairo Varela, founder of Niche. — LUISA CALLE
Doctor Nativo, 'Caminantes' ft. Roco Pachukote (Stonetree Records)
With 'Caminantes,' Doctor Nativo delivers an electrifying mariachi-tinged ska single that bridges borders, histories, and generations. The track, featuring Roco Pachukote (the Maldita Vecindad frontman), pulses with jubilant rhythms and sharp brassy flourishes, paying tribute to Mayan elder Tata Pedro Cruz and his peaceful pilgrimage for world unity. Rooted in Guatemalan spirituality yet enriched by Mexican ska energy, Nativo crafts a vibrant ode to migration, resistance, and ancestral wisdom. It's an upbeat call to leave comfort zones, connect with nature, and walk in solidarity. Produced with dynamic precision, 'Caminantes' teems with both jubilance and mindfulness. A fitting preview of Nativo's forthcoming BarrioKandela, this song celebrates cultural fusion and unwavering hope. It's punchy, spirited, and deeply moving. (Tata Pedro's family and movement will receive a share of proceeds earned from this song.) — ISABELA RAYGOZA
Zoé, 'Campo de Fuerza' (Universal Music Group México)
Ending a four-year musical drought, Zoé returns with a bang: 'Campo de Fuerza,' the Mexican alt-rock band's first single since its 2021 album Sonidos de Karmática Resonancia, is a reminder of Zoé's ability to craft hypnotic melodies that thrive on a canvas of instrumental atmospheres — alternating between neo-psychedelic-tinged synths and a head-banging drum beat — that instantly transport you to an alternate universe where sound and lyrics come together to enhance your journey. 'Campo' comes on the heels of Zoé's upcoming five sold-out shows at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, which kick off Sept. 27. — GRISELDA FLORES
Zhamira Zambrano, 'Quisiera Ella' (Dynamic Records)
Zhamira Zambrano ventures into bolero with 'Quisiera Ella,' a song about resilience and self-love in the face of heartbreak which continues to demonstrate her versatility as a performer. 'She would like you to bring down the sky and the stars for her/ That after the altar you would travel the world/ And that the honeymoon never ends… But that's not possible because you're a lie/ A dream seller with your filthy gift ofgab,' she sings warmly over elegant orchestral arrangements. Accompanied by a cinematic music video in which she plays a waitress unexpectedly called on stage — in which her husband Jay Wheeler makes a special appearance — 'Quisiera Ella' is the third single from the Venezuelan singer's upcoming debut album. — SIGAL RATNER-ARIAS
iLe, 'Un Amor de la Calle' (La Buena Fortuna Music)
Puerto Rican singer-songwriter iLe delves into a musical genre rooted in her sonic DNA, the bolero, reinventing some of her favorite songs in this style to give them strength and passion. 'Un Amor de la Calle,' the first single from her upcoming album Como Las Canto Yo, is a profound expression of disillusionment and heartbreak. The former Calle 13 member impresses her sensitivity to this piece, originally written by Orlando Brito and popularized in 1975 by the great Héctor Lavoe, giving it new life with her powerful, dramatic voice, accompanied by street guitars and harsh, aggressive chords that captivate the listener. – NATALIA CANO
Isabela Merced & Tony Succar, 'Apocalipsis' (Unity Entertainment)
Actress and singer Isabela Merced teamed up with Peruvian musician Tonny Succar to release a dynamic new version of her 2020 song 'Apocalipsis.' This revitalized interpretation elevates the original track into a dazzling exhibition of Latin music's rich artistry. The lively anthem blends vibrant salsa rhythms with catchy pop melodies, honoring their shared Peruvian heritage. Succar brings his unique flair to this rendition as he masterfully integrates iconic salsa instrumentation, such as brass and percussion, with modern arrangements that enhance the song's energy and unites two generations. — INGRID FAJARDO
Duelo ft. Louie Padilla (La Firma), 'Soy Como No Soy' (La Bonita Music)
This new live version of the 2010 hit — recently recorded at Domo Care in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico — brings together two iconic voices of the Tejano norteño: Oscar Iván Treviño, vocalist of the group Duelo, and Louie Padilla, vocalist of the group La Firma and author of the lyrics, which tell the story of a man who doesn't dare confess his love and feels that he's no longer who he was. With the distinctive sound of the accordion, and a rhythmic beat that, from the first chords, invites listeners to dance, 'Soy Como No Soy (En Vivo)' is a gift for fans and proof that the tejano norteño is still relevant for new generations. — TERE AGUILERABest of Billboard

Kelly Clarkson's ex-assistant Brittney Marie Jones allegedly cheated on husband with Brandon Blackstock: source

Kelly Clarkson's former assistant allegedly cheated on her husband with Brandon Blackstock, Page Six has exclusively learned. A source alleges that Brittney Marie Jones's now-ex-husband, Greg LaPoint, found out about her alleged affair with the music executive in the summer of 2023. 'He got screwed over due to [Jones and Blackstock's] fling starting during his marriage,' the insider claims. Court documents obtained by Page Six show the former assistant wed the Gypsy Nights drummer on Aug. 13, 2021. He still has traces of his marriage on social media. An Instagram post the 'Favorite Escape' rocker shared on Sept. 11, 2022 reads, 'It's hard to believe it's been a year since we said, 'I do.'' 'I can not imagine a world without you by my side, a partner who is as real as they come. A lover, cuddler and sure spit fire. I am forever grateful I get to call you my wife,' he added. While LaPoint pointed out at the time that relationships come with ups and downs, he concluded his heartfelt post by writing, 'I will always be the one you can count on to lift you up.' We're told when LaPoint found out about his wife's alleged affair, he asked her immediately to file for divorce. She did so on July 13, 2023, citing 'irreconcilable differences,' per court records we obtained. Jones, however, listed her and the 'Late Last Year' rocker's date of separation as January 2023 — yet LaPoint posted a photo of them looking happy on a hike that same month. Their divorce was finalized by February 2024, per the court records. Jones did not return Page Six's repeated requests for comment. Although Jones was allegedly unfaithful, multiple sources tell Page Six exclusively that Blackstock did not cheat on Clarkson with Jones. Two sources claim the music exec and 'Since U Been Gone' singer were divorced 'long before' his relationship with the ex-assistant started. The second insider also notes, though, that Blackstock 'slipped away to Montana' following his highly publicized split, therefore many of the exact details surrounding his romance were kept private. The public learned that Jones was romantically involved with Blackstock when an obituary published after his recent death from cancer stated she was the exec's 'beautiful and loving partner in life and business' and that they had started 'building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction.' They had known each other for many years, as Jones worked for Clarkson while the talk show host was dealing with marital issues, from 2018 to 2022, managing her day to day schedules, per her LinkedIn. Jones was also Blackstock's executive assistant during the time she worked for Clarkson, and then continued working for the talent exec's Valley View Rodeo. Clarkson has never commented on the cheating rumors. She noted in court docs that the 'level of conflict' between herself and the father of her two children had 'increased' as they had 'a difficult time co-parenting due to issues of trust between them.' Page Six recently learned that Blackstock had been living with Jones leading up to his final moments. Public records show she resided at his nearly $1.7 million Montana mansion as of at least April 2024. Blackstock had been single for many years at that point, though, as he split from Clarkson in 2020 and their divorce was finalized in 2022. Clarkson reportedly did not have warm feelings about her ex's new romance. A source recently told the Daily Mail that the relationship was 'the icing on the cake of the disappointment.' However, the two women still found a way to get along, as the insider claimed, 'Kelly knew that Brittney wasn't going to be a problem with her and her kids, there was never a misunderstanding between them.' Jones was seemingly head over heels about Blackstock, as the the ex-assistant's father recently gushed via Facebook that the businessman was his daughter's true 'soulmate.' 'Yesterday we lost a good man Brandon Blackstock my daughter's soulmate and I considered him my son,' he wrote after the music manager lost his three-year melanoma battle at age 48. Reps for Blackstock and Clarkson did not immediately return Page Six's request for comment. Solve the daily Crossword

Sean Kingston jailed

Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison. The Beautiful Girls hitmaker - whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson - and his mother, Janice Turner, were found guilty of five counts of wire fraud in March following a federal trial and faced up to 20 years in jail for each charge. But on Friday (15.08.25), Sean apologised in front of Judge David Leibowitz and said he had learned a lesson, and though his attorney asked the 35-year-old star be allowed to leave and surrender at a later date for health reasons, the judge refused and he was immediately taken into custody. His attorney, Zeljka Bozanic, told Entertainment Weekly the musician is taking the situation "as a learning experience". The lawyer said in a statement: "We respect the Court's decision and the judicial process. We are content that the Court did not go with the government's request of five years and sentenced Sean below the sentencing guidelines instead. It is important to note that most of the restitution in this case was paid back, even before these charges were brought. "Sean is taking this as a learning experience and will continue moving forward in a positive direction. We are actively reviewing all available options, including potential appeals, to ensure his rights are fully protected." Janice - who had previously pleaded guilty to bank fraud for stealing $160,000 and served more than a year in prison - was sentenced to five years behind bars last month. The mother and son had denied allegations of falsely claiming they had sent bank transfers for luxury items worth more than $1 million but were found guilty in March. After the verdict was reached, Sean was placed on home detention, though he has to meet bond requirements, including a $200,000 surety bond in cash, as well as putting up a relative's $500,000 house. However, Janice was reminded into federal custody and was taken away by US Marshals as her son cried. He told them: "Protect my mother.' While Sean opted not to testify on his own behalf, his mother did, and the judge explained she was remanded as a flight risk in part due to her testimony. He said Janice - who has similar past convictions - had shown she was the "fixer, the nerve centre" and in control of the fraud scheme but her son's defence depicted him as "a child" with no knowledge of finances. Several alleged victims had claimed to have been swindled out of items including a bulletproof Cadillac, a huge TV and expensive watches, and all items had been seized in a raid on Sean's home. The United States Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Florida, previously explained the rapper and his mother's charges stemmed from their alleged involvement in "a scheme to defraud victim sellers of high-end specialty vehicles, jewellery, and other goods purchased by the defendants through the use of fraudulent documents." The office went on to state the pair "unjustly enriched themselves by falsely representing that they had executed bank wire or other monetary payment transfers as payment for vehicles, jewellery, and other goods purchased by the defendants, when in fact no such bank wire or other monetary payment transfers had been executed by the purported banks, and thereafter the defendants retained or attempted to retain the vehicles, jewellery and other goods despite non-payment. Through the execution of this scheme, the defendants obtained in excess of $1 million in property." The pair were accused of having stolen almost $500,000 in jewellery, more than $200,000 from Bank of America, more than $100,000 from First Republic Bank, $160,000 from a Cadillac Escalade dealer and $86,000 from a maker of customised beds. At the time of his arrest last year, the musician was serving two years probation for trafficking stolen property.
