Dominic Purcell does not look like this anymore! Prison Break star looks unrecognisable as he shares major series reboot news

Daily Mail04-07-2025
An unrecognisable Dominic Purcell has given fans an update on the future of Prison Break.
The Australian-born actor, 55, gained a cult following starring as Lincoln Burrows in the long-running Fox crime drama.
The show ended in 2017 after five seasons and a standalone film, but whispers of a sixth season have kept fans on edge.
Dominic took to Instagram this week, looking markedly different from his Prison Break days.
The actor was sporting a neatly trimmed salt-and-pepper beard, while his trademark buzzcut had also been swapped for a neatly cropped style.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
Wearing a white tank top for the in-car selfie, Dominic's chiselled and heavily inked arms were on full display.
Captioning the image, Dominic revealed that fans could stop holding their breath, as a new Prison Break series was 'not happening'.
'I mean, I get it, it was a sick show, but I've really moved on. It's not happening,' Dominic said.
Continuing, Dominic said that he was not interested in the past, adding: 'The excitement of the possibilities for me are far greater than the past. I've done, it ladies and gents.
'I'm doing what I wanna do, not what people think I should do, nor what I can do with my eyes closed. That's a boring way [of] moving forward professionally and in life, I believe. Uncertainty is far more appealing.'
The post was met with a flurry of comments from fans, with many agreeing with the star that it was time for everyone to 'move on'.
'Some fans can't let go of the show after it's been over after Season 5. Dominic is great in his other roles he has done in movies and TV,' one follower offered.
Another offered: 'Damn, can y'all leave him alone? Y'all been hounding with prison break for decades now. Let them live in peace!!!'
A third summed up the sentiment of many, commenting: 'True fans should know/understand to move on… just rewatch the entire series for the 10th time like me and call it a day.'
After Prison Break ended, Fox confirmed that the cult-hit would return for a sixth season in January, 2018. However, a year later they announced they had no plans to revive the hit series.
In 2020, Wentworth Miller also admitted that he was done with the series.
'I'm out. Of PB. Officially,' he wrote on Instagram.
'Not [because] of static on social media. I just don't want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told).'
'If you're hot and bothered [because] you fell in love with a fictional straight man played by a real gay one… That's your work.'
Since saying goodbye to Lincoln Burrows in 2017, Dominic has racked up quite a few credits, including starring as Mick Rory/Heatwave across numerous DC Universe shows such as Arrow, Batwoman, and DC's Legends Of Tomorrow.
He is also set to rejoin his Prison Break co-star, Wentworth Miller, in the upcoming Universal drama Snatchback.
Dominic tied the knot with Tish Cyrus back in 2023, in a romantic ceremony following her divorce from her husband of 28 years, Billy Ray.

Sky News host Peta Credlin shows off her incredible gym transformation as she poses in skintight activewear

Peta Credlin has been working hard at the gym ahead of indulging on holiday. The Sky News host shared a selfie to Instagram recently that showed her progress in the gym. The fit 55-year-old posed in skintight activewear including a navy blue tank top and black leggings. She flexed her ample arm muscles as she snapped a mirror selfie to flaunt her slender, muscular physique, and explained she was working hard before heading off on holiday to Italy. 'Progress update before I go and ruin all the hard work with a daily holiday gelato,' she wrote in her caption. Peta explained that she has been working out at the Enterprise Fitness gym in Melbourne. The comments section was inundated with support, with TV host Rebecca Maddern writing, 'I wouldn't mess with you.' Peta replied: 'Trying to avoid the dreaded "tuck shop" arms of menopause.' One fan chimed in: 'Well done. Healthy body healthy mind. A force to be reckoned with.' 'I didn't think anyone was allowed guns that big,' joked another while someone else said, 'Great effort. Hope the training is going to help kick Albo around.' Earlier this year, Peta dressed down a male colleague live on air, accusing him of insulting the intelligence of women. Credlin grew increasingly exasperated with the network's political editor Andrew Clennell, after he said former Opposition Leader Peter Dutton had to bring in some 'women-friendly policies' in order to pave his way to The Lodge. 'What's a 'women's friendly policy' mate?' a visibly unimpressed Credlin said. 'Do you think we don't care about the economy? We don't care about defence?' Clennell replied: 'I'm not a woman. But I'm saying if (Dutton) went for that constituency, if he did a couple of things in that area, and I remember Gladys Berejiklian did that sort of thing.' That comment only made Credlin more incensed. 'You insult our intelligence to think we don't care about these things,' she said. 'Well of course they do, but people vote with the hip pocket - there is a sense amongst women,' Clennell continued before a finger-pointing Credlin interrupted that women 'do not vote with our vaginas'. 'Well, you're the one who's asking me about a gender difference, Peta, I mean, you raised it,' Clennell retorted. 'Well... I'm asking you about what can you read in it, and you're saying that he's got to have women's policies to win women,' Peta responded. 'I find that offensive.' Credlin was the former chief of staff to Tony Abbott when he was prime minister and minister for women.

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega goes for a dip at Sydney's Bondi Beach while fully clothed in Gothic attire including a leather jacket and knee-high boots

Jenna Ortega was living up to her Gothic character in the Wednesday streaming series as she went for a quick wade at Bondi Beach. The 22-year-old American actress, who flew into Sydney this week, stopped by the iconic seaside location on Wednesday and couldn't resist a dip. Dropping by in between promotional duties for the hit Netflix series, Jenna was clad head-to-toe in black leather - but that didn't stop her experiencing the ocean. Jenna slipped off her boots but kept on her long, leather trench coat and her sunglasses as she took advantage of the sunny weather and soaked her feet. The actress carried her chunky biker boots in her hand and scrolled through her phone while having a quick wade on the shore. Under her coat, Jenna had on a nude slip dress and opted for a pale makeup look with a dark nude lipstick. The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star wore her brunette locks down in soft waves and largely skipped the accessories. Jenna was joined by a large entourage who followed her across the sand before the group left the area together. The Scream actress had arrived at Sydney Airport looking very much like Wednesday from the eponymous series earlier this week. The Hollywood actress is Down Under for the opening of fan festival Wednesday Island in Sydney. The first four episodes of Wednesday's second season debuted to critical acclaim at the beginning of the month. The second half of the season is expected to hit screens in September. The show, a spin-off from hit comic series The Addams Family, made headlines in 2022 after its first season nabbed the number one most popular English-language TV title ever on Netflix, according to Variety. The second season is predicted to achieve similar success after it amassed over 50 million views in its first five days of streaming on the platform. The second series of the Emmy-winning series is executive produced and often directed by horror icon Tim Burton, 66. It has been announced that not only will Wednesday be back for a third series, but a spin-off show is currently under discussion, according to Hollywood Reporter. Fans were delighted to hear the fate of the beloved drama has been secured, taking to social media to express their excitement. Catherine Zeta-Jones posted on Instagram confirming the news: 'When Wednesday comes a better day. 'Wednesday season three. It's official... we shall return.' The first series of Wednesday follows the titular troublemaker character after she is expelled and transferred to Nevermore Academy, a school for monstrous outcasts. Her cool, creepy manner and rebellious streak often see her in trouble and struggling to fit in. But after she discovers she is a psychic like her mother and applies her skills to solving a local murder case, she soon finds her stride.

Insane price for a burger sparks outrage: 'Is this a joke?'

Customers have blasted a $55 novelty hamburger at Brisbane 's iconic Ekka show, as organisers rushed to defend what some labelled a 'rort'. Hungry attendees took images of the Smash Burger stall menu at the Royal Queensland Show which advertised a special burger and chip deal for the eyewatering sum. The 'Blockbuster' burger was described as containing double beef patties, double smoky bacon, and liquid cheese, on a 'block bun', according to the menu. But the menu featured an image of a very ordinary looking hamburger. Viewers were quick to slam the price tag on line, with many labelling it a 'scam' and calling for a 'boycott'. 'Jesus Christ. No idea who would buy this,' one person wrote. 'What an absolute p***take,' another said. 'If anyone reading this paid $55 for one of these, you're a f***ing Idiot!' a third wrote. One viewer tried to work out what the burger was really worth using the optional extras' pricing. 'So an extra patty is $4. That means the two patties in the burger are $8. Bacon is $3, so with two slices, that's $6. We're up to $14 now. 'Gluten-free bun is $3, which is more expensive, so let's say the standard bun is $2. Another $2 for the cheese. Now we're at $18. So there must be $37 worth of lettuce, tomato, and sauce in that burger.' Another wrote she would have to be 'insane' to spend $55 on a burger, and would be expecting T-bone steaks for patties if she did. One said there were other more palatably-priced meals at the show. 'Plenty of good food at the Ekka for comparable prices to normal places this year (in my opinion). Though that's more the rest of the world got more expensive rather than the Ekka getting cheaper,' he wrote. But the festival quickly tried to quell consumer's doubts, as the real Blockbuster burger is far larger than the one pictured. 'It's huge... the burger is served in a hollowed half loaf of bread and is packed full of fillings,' a spokeswoman said. The meal has been designed for two people. One photo shared the event's social media accounts showed two children behind the burger which appeared to be about the same size as their heads. 'Visitors to the Ekka love trying new and wonderful food items… and the blockbuster burger certainly stands out among all the options available!' Officials estimate there are more than 110 food vendors at the showgrounds, several of which are offering food options $10 or less. The show has more than 400,000 visitors each year. 'By night's end, more than 70,000 people will have attended Ekka - the biggest People's Day crowd in almost 15 years,' the show's spokeswoman said.
