Navarro: US in ‘difficult transition from Bidenomics to Trumpnomics'
'Help us understand, what is the bigger picture for the economy from the administration?' host Will Cain asked on his Fox News show.
In his response, Navarro said, 'let's start looking through one end of the telescope, through today's data, as you correctly observe, the core rate of inflation has fallen [to its] lowest level in almost four years.'
'That's huge,' Navarro continued. 'Gasoline prices down, we've had mortgage rates down, we've had grocery prices flat. Here's the thing, we're in this — this difficult transition from Bidenomics to Trumpnomics.'
'What is that, OK? Bidenomics was a combination of very overaggressive Keynesian stimulus spending to goose the economy that created large amounts of debt, which is unsustainable. So, [at] the same time that it gave us what we call demand-pull inflation, too much money chasing too few goods, it built in a recession, possibly some time down the road, if that spending weren't controlled,' he added.
In an interview that aired Tuesday, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said Trump's tariff policies will be worth it, even in the case that the economy experiences a recession.
'The only reason there could possibly be a recession is because of the Biden nonsense that we had to live with,' Luntick also said during the interview.
The stock market on Monday started the week with dramatic losses, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing with a loss of 890 points, dipping 2.1 percent.
In an editorial published Monday, The Wall Street Journal predicted that a fully fledged economic recession might come following the day's stock market trouble.
'Stock prices have been richly valued for some time, and this may be merely a market correction. But there are also signs of a slowing economy that should have the Trump Administration on alert,' the Journal's editorial board wrote.

White House restricts WSJ access to Trump over Epstein story
The White House on Monday barred The Wall Street Journal from traveling with US President Donald Trump during his upcoming visit to Scotland, after the newspaper reported that he wrote a bawdy birthday message to his former friend, alleged sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. The move comes after Trump on Friday sued the WSJ and its media magnate owner Rupert Murdoch for at least $10 billion over the allegation in the article, which Trump denies. The Trump administration's handling of the Epstein case has threatened to split the Republican's far-right Make America Great Again (MAGA) base, with some of his supporters calling for a full release of the so-called "Epstein Files." The punishment of the Wall Street Journal marks at least the second time the Trump administration has moved to exclude a major news outlet from the press pool over its reporting, having barred Associated Press journalists from multiple key events since February. "As the appeals court confirmed, The Wall Street Journal or any other news outlet are not guaranteed special access to cover President Trump in the Oval Office, aboard Air Force One, and in his private workspaces," said Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. "Due to The Wall Street Journal's fake and defamatory conduct, they will not be one of the thirteen outlets on board (Air Force One)." Trump departs this weekend for Scotland, where he owns two golf resorts and will meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Earlier this month, the US Department of Justice, under Trump-appointed Attorney General Pam Bondi, said there was no evidence suggesting disgraced financier Epstein had kept a "client list" or was blackmailing powerful figures before his death in 2019. In its story on Thursday, the WSJ reported that Trump had written a suggestive birthday letter to Epstein in 2003, illustrated with a naked woman and alluding to a shared "secret." Epstein, a longtime friend of Trump and multiple other high-profile men, was found hanging dead in a New York prison cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges that he sexually exploited dozens of underage girls at his homes in New York and Florida. The case sparked conspiracy theories, especially among Trump's far-right voters, about an alleged international cabal of wealthy pedophiles. Epstein's death -- declared a suicide -- before he could face trial supercharged that narrative. Since returning to power in January, Trump has moved to increase control over the press covering the White House. In February, the Oval Office stripped the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) of its nearly century-old authority to oversee which outlets have access to certain restricted presidential events, with Trump saying that he was now "calling the shots" on media access. In a statement, the WHCA president urged the White House to "restore" the Journal to the pool. "This attempt by the White House to punish a media outlet whose coverage it does not like is deeply troubling, and it defies the First Amendment," said WHCA President Weijia Jiang. Thomas Fugate, 22-year-old Trump DHS appointee, addresses backlash over age, inexperience
FIRST ON FOX: Thomas Fugate, a 22-year-old Trump appointee, spoke with Fox News Digital after being cast into the spotlight and criticized over his young age, inexperience and role in President Donald Trump's administration. Fugate's official title at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is Special Assistant. However, several outlets reported that Fugate was the head of DHS's Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3). CP3 is DHS' lead office for terrorism and targeted violence prevention. The young appointee and DHS denied those claims to Fox News Digital. "All decisions came down from policy leadership, [the] undersecretary, deputy secretary, and chief of staff," Fugate emphasized. Fugate went on to say that CP3, a program which was gutted by an $18.5 million cut last week, has a heavily reduced role compared to previous administrations as Trump's DHS has downsized the division. "Before I got there, [CP3] was already flagged for waste, fraud, and abuse," Fugate explained. "We're not talking about a massive office of 80 people with a wide range of functions. We're talking about a very niche and small, specialized office." Fugate said the office is mainly focused on administering a grant program. "It's only when you take it out of context and blow it out of proportion that it then becomes a massive problem where people think I'm practically running the FBI," Fugate continued. DHS also told Fox News Digital that Fugate was never in a position of leadership within the program, and even referred to him as a "low-level" staffer. "This entire smear campaign around Thomas Fugate is a smokescreen to bury the rampant grift and waste festering in the CP3 program under the Biden Administration's watch," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Fox. "Fugate never held the director role at CP3, and to imply that he had operational control or exercised leadership over CP3 is simply untrue, as we have consistently told them." "The fact a low-level 22-year-old staffer was able to identify the misappropriated spending and the subsequent violent reaction to defend this woke, partisan spending by those on the left tells you exactly what this program was really being used for," McLaughlin said. As for his young age and experience, Fugate noted that he started out with DHS at Border and Immigration when the Undersecretary of Policy asked him to temporarily assist at CP3. Prior to that, he interned at the Heritage Foundation before graduating from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in Politics and Law last May.
