THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — An MTA conductor was slashed in the face while announcing train delays in a Bronx subway station on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The 36-year-old woman was attacked on the platform of the No. 6 train in the Whitlock Avenue subway station at around 12:23 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The conductor was announcing train delays when the suspect came up to her and allegedly said, 'no one will tell him what to do,' according to the New York Transit Union.
The suspect then allegedly cut the worker on the left side of her face, near her eye, officials said. She was taken hospital for treatment and needed stitches to close the gash, officials said.
'The union is calling on the city to notify police patrols to be especially vigilant and cover the conductor's cab area as they work to reduce crime. This easily could have been a deadly assault — we must do everything we can to prevent the next one,' Union President John V. Chiarello said in a statement.
The suspect ran off after the incident and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and green pants, police said.
There have been no arrests.

Vandals torch 11 NYPD vehicles near Brooklyn police precinct

Vandals torched 11 NYPD police cars in a Brooklyn parking lot down the street from a police stationhouse early Thursday, police said. The brazen act of vandalism happened just hours after protesters held a 'Speak Out' at the 83rd Precinct stationhouse on Knickerbocker Ave. and Bleecker St. in Bushwick, decrying the cops for their treatment of Puerto Rican Day Parade celebrants at after-parties in the neighborhood on Sunday night and Monday morning. The NYPD was aware of the Wednesday night demonstration, but it wasn't immediately clear if the two incidents were linked. The marked and unmarked NYPD vehicles were set ablaze inside the lot around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, cops said. The FDNY managed to put out the blaze within a few minutes. No injuries were reported, but the vehicles suffered extensive damage, officials said. Two men dressed in black were seen fleeing the scene. Investigators believe someone poured gasoline on the marked police cars before setting them on fire. A torch lighter was found on the scene. Vandals busted the windshields of some of the vehicles they didn't torch, a police source said. Palm-sized wads of kindling were found in the wheel wells of at least one car. Cops were scouring the area for surveillance video that captures the vandals walking to the lot, which is just down the block from the stationhouse. Community leaders called for calm as the vandalism stokes growing tensions between the NYPD and Brooklyn residents. City Councilmember Sandy Nurse, D-Bushwick, called the torching 'completely unacceptable.' 'Actions like this have no place in our neighborhood,' Nurse wrote on X Thursday. 'Our community is already under stress with ICE present. Now is the time to de-escalate, stand together and work through our challenges peacefully.' City Councilwoman Jen Gutiérrez, who also represents Bushwick, agreed with Nurse and called for cooler heads to prevail. 'We cannot stand up to this and any other threat with more violence,' Gutiérrez posted. 'We must de-escalate and keep our families safe.' Precinct officers are being accused on social media of having been heavy-handed as they broke up Puerto Rican Parade after-parties in Bushwick on Sunday. 'On Sunday evening, NYPD pigs from the 83rd Precinct launched a fascist offensive against the community of Bushwick, NYC, attacking Puerto Ricans and non-Puerto Ricans during peaceful celebrations during the Manhattan and Brooklyn Puerto Rican Day Parades,' one post noted. 'The first attack happened around the Bush Dyke Bar around 8 p.m. Victims of this unnecessary raid reported being slammed to the ground resulting in hospitalizations.' In a second incident, cops shut down an after-party at Mood Ring on Myrtle Ave. The incident resulted in at least one hospitalization, BKMag reported. An NYPD spokesman said cops were called to the venue around 12:20 a.m. Monday after getting a 311 call about a disorderly group outside. Officers tried to disperse the crowd, but several people refused to leave, the spokesman said, adding that at least one partier assaulted a cop trying to move the crowd along. Police took five people into custody. Three were hit with criminal charges, and two were given summonses for disorderly conduct, officials said. The criminal charges ranged from assault and resisting arrest to obstructing government administration and criminal mischief, cops said. 'The NYPD did not shut down the premises and no enforcement action was taken inside the establishment,' the NYPD spokesman added. 'The NYPD entered the establishment only to speak with management.' _____

Miami-Dade mayor was at World Cup party that broke up after Border agent arrived: ‘Troubling'

A federal immigration agent arrived Wednesday night at an exclusive World Cup party on Biscayne Bay attended by Miami-Dade County's mayor, who is calling the incident 'deeply troubling' and a potential warning sign that international soccer fans won't feel safe traveling to Miami next year for the global soccer matches. 'This should not have happened,' Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, a second-term Democrat, said in a statement Thursday. 'Ensuring that all community members feel safe and included is crucial to maintaining our county's reputation as a welcoming destination for both residents and visitors.' The floating soiree, which was put on by Telemundo to celebrate the 2026 World Cup games being a year away, ended early after a Coast Guard boat conducted what an agency spokesperson said was a routine inspection of the barge that was the night's exclusive party spot. The Coast Guard spokesperson said one Customs and Border Protection agent was part of the federal team, and partygoers reported that authorities asked crew members of the party vessel, the Barefoot Princess, for identification that would prove their citizenship. No action was taken from the inspection beyond citations for safety violations against the vessel, said Lt. Nicolina Converso, a spokesperson for the Coast Guard's Miami station. She did not have details on the violations. 'This was a routine boarding,' she said. 'Sometimes we will randomly go and check on boats in the area.' In a later interview, Coast Guard spokesperson Nicole Groll emphasized that the Coast Guard's purpose for the vessel boarding was a safety check. 'This had nothing to do with the event that was happening onboard,' she said. 'This had everything to do with the operations and safety of the people onboard. And to make sure the business that was this boat was operating legally and safely.' Groll said the vessel in question was boarded earlier in the year and that safety issues were found then. She also said that it's standard procedure for the Coast Guard to run background checks on the professional crew operating a commercial vessel. 'They were talking to the captain and the crew,' she said. 'It's the same as if you get pulled over by a police officer.' Asked if federal agents asked crew members about their citizenship, Groll said she couldn't say for sure. 'I can't say which words were said,' she told the Herald. 'This was not a targeted immigration thing.' Telemundo, a Spanish-language network that broadcasts World Cup games, said it opted to cancel the event after the Coast Guard inspection delayed the start of the pre-sunset festivities. The statement did not address the immigration-enforcement concerns raised by Levine Cava. 'Due to delays caused by a routine Coast Guard inspection, Telemundo canceled its One Year to Go celebration,' the network statement said. 'We regret the inconvenience to our guests and appreciate their understanding.' The incident was first publicized on social media by Thomas Kennedy, an immigrant advocate in Miami. He shared with the Miami Herald a text message he said he received from a person at the party. 'They came on board, did an inspection,' the message read. 'A border control agent was also on board asking the boat staff specifically to show identification and proof of citizenship. This was while guests were already onboard…including the mayor.' Levine Cava did not say whether she saw anyone being asked for identification, but the owner of a different boat company told the Herald it is typical for the Coast Guard to ask professional crew members about citizenship during a stop. In her statement, Levine Cava said the Coast Guard boarding could be a black eye for the Miami area as it prepares to be a host of the 2026 World Cup games. Miami-Dade is contributing more than $40 million to subsidize the summer games, with hopes of a surge of international visitors and spending to offset the public expenditures. 'Miami-Dade is a globally recognized community that is proud to welcome visitors from around the world,' she said. 'This incident is deeply troubling as it can cause a chilling effect for visitors to continue feeling safe and welcomed in our community.'

Adams ties arson attack on NYPD vehicles to LA riots— but link unconfirmed: sources

Mayor Eric Adams claimed that the masked firebug who torched nearly a dozen NYPD vehicles in Brooklyn Thursday morning was linked to the violent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles – but sources told The Post there is little to back up that assertion. 'We have reasons to believe the person who participated in this act is connected to some of the protests that [are] taking place in Los Angeles and throughout the entire country,' Adams told reporters of the arson, which took place in a Bushwick lot about a block from the 83rd Precinct stationhouse. Hizzoner would not elaborate further on how that connection was established, but said 'there's a clear indication that someone that had firsthand knowledge of this and taking credit for it, and that's going to be part of our investigation.' Sources, however, say the mayor was referring to a screed posted on X announcing the arson, and listing the top motive as 'solidarity with the uprising happening in Los Angeles where community and rebels are fighting Amerikkan pig forces.' 'From one cop city to another, death to the pigs and the surveillance state,' the poster wrote. But the legitimacy of that post – and whether the writer actually took part in the LA riots – has not been confirmed, poilce sources said A total of 11 vehicles were damaged and 14 were impacted in the early-morning fires, but thankfully no injuries were reported, Adams said.
