Kia, the South Korean automaker, has now unveiled the EV9 all-electric SUV in America. While its launch and other details for the Indian market are still unannounced, the three-row electric SUV has got some updates and a decent price cut in the American market.
2026 Kia EV9: Battery And Powertrain
The 2026 Kia EV9 is based on the same platform as its current iteration, which is the E-GMP platform. It also retains the 99.8 battery pack and a 76.1 kWh battery, available as options. These power units can churn out a peak power of 201 hp and 379 hp, respectively.

Kia America has brought some major changes to the 2026 EV9 and also introduced the Nightfall Edition. This edition is based on the all-electric SUV's Land trim. While the exterior resembles its preceding iteration, the EV9 now gets some black highlights that give the Nightfall Edition a more rugged appeal. The Kia EV9 Nightfall Edition gets gloss black skid plates, fascia accents, side rails, gloss black mirrors, and roof rails. It also boasts its 20-inch blacked-out wheels and Nightfall Edition-specific black badging.
2026 Kia EV9: Range
While the 2026 Kia EV9 retains the battery pack options from its present model, the brand has worked on improving the range across trims. The Kia EV9 Light Long Range claims to deliver about 490 km, while the Wind, Land, and GT-Line claim to deliver around 450 km of range on a single charge.
2026 Kia EV9: Price
Kia has also slashed the prices of the EV9 in the US market. While the base EV9 continues to start at USD 54,900, the EV9 Light Long Range drops to USD 59,900 from USD 57,900. Also, the EV9 Land is priced at USD 69,900, and the EV9 GT-Line costs USD 73,900 (earlier USD 71,900).

Samsung's big bet: Perplexity AI could soon be everywhere on its devices
Samsung Electronics is close to finalising a significant partnership with Perplexity AI Inc, an artificial intelligence (AI) search technology startup, Bloomberg reported. The South Korean tech giant is negotiating to preload Perplexity's app and assistant onto its upcoming devices. Additionally, Samsung aims to integrate Perplexity's search features into its web browser. Talks have also covered incorporating the startup's technology into Samsung's Bixby virtual assistant, the report said. Samsung plans to unveil the Perplexity integrations as early as this year, with the goal of making it a default assistant option on the Galaxy S26, expected to launch in the first half of 2026. However, the specifics of the deal are still being finalised and may change, the sources noted. So far, the company has relied significantly on Google's Gemini to support a range of AI capabilities within its Galaxy AI suite. Significant investment in Perplexity In addition to the technology partnership, Samsung is expected to participate in Perplexity's upcoming funding round, potentially as one of its largest investors. Perplexity is currently in advanced discussions to raise $500 million at a valuation of $14 billion, the news report said. The collaboration could help Samsung lessen its reliance on Alphabet Inc's Google and position it to work with a broader range of AI developers — a strategy similar to Apple Inc.'s approach to its ecosystem. For Perplexity, this would represent its most substantial mobile partnership to date, following a recent deal with Motorola. The two companies began exploring a partnership earlier this year. In recent weeks, representatives from both sides met in South Korea and made significant progress toward finalising the agreement, the report said. In addition to embedding Perplexity's technology into Samsung's devices and Bixby, the companies have also discussed developing an AI-infused operating system and an app that can connect Perplexity's capabilities with other AI assistants. Apple's interest in Perplexity Meanwhile, Apple has also shown interest in collaborating with Perplexity. According to Bloomberg News, Apple has considered using Perplexity as an alternative to Google Search and as a replacement for ChatGPT within the Siri voice assistant. 'We've been pretty impressed with what Perplexity has done, so we've started some discussions with them about what they're doing,' Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice-president of services, said during recent testimony at a Google antitrust trial.

India to need 1 million AI professionals by 2026, says report amid tech education overhaul
India is poised to see a massive surge in demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) professionals, with projections estimating the need for one million skilled individuals by 2026, according to the report India's AI Revolution: A Roadmap to Viksit Bharat, released by the Union Ministry of Electronics & the country aspires to become a USD 23-USD 35 trillion economy by 2047, higher education--particularly in engineering--is undergoing a fundamental transformation to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving job market shaped by AI, automation, and interdisciplinary innovation. Engineering education is at the heart of this shift. According to the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the number of approved B. Tech seats for the 2024-25 academic year has risen to 14.9 lakh--a nearly 16 per cent increase over four years. This growth is largely driven by a more than 50 per cent rise in seats for Computer Science and allied streams such as AI/ML, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, and Blockchain--mirroring strong industry demand. India's tech education landscape is increasingly embracing interdisciplinary and industry-integrated learning to nurture a new generation of engineers who can code, create, collaborate, and lead innovation. The transition from STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) to STEAM, adding Arts to the mix, is gaining ground, blending technical knowledge with design thinking, communication, psychology, law, and business. "The surge in demand for AI professionals' stems from rapid technological progress. As AI reshapes productivity, operations, and innovation, preparing a future-ready workforce is imperative. Zydus Lifesciences has received tentative approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for Rifaximin Tablets, 550 mg (USRLD: Xifaxan Tablets, 550 mg).
