Bayern Munich demolish Auckland City to kick off Club World Cup campaign
CINCINNATI, United States :Bayern Munich began their Club World Cup campaign in emphatic fashion with a ruthless 10-0 demolition of Auckland City on Sunday, as Jamal Musiala marked his return from injury with a brilliant second-half hat-trick in a commanding team display.
Kingsley Coman opened the scoring in the sixth minute, heading home at the far post after a Joshua Kimmich corner.
The Bundesliga champions then took full control with a three-goal burst in as many minutes, as Sacha Boey smashed in a low shot from a Coman pass in the 18th minute for his first goal for Bayern, Michael Olise added a third with a simple tap-in moments later and Coman netted his second in the 21st minute.
Thomas Mueller then made it 5-0 just before the break, volleying in from close range after an Olise assist, and the French winger grabbed his second with a superb curling effort from outside the box.
Substitute Musiala curled a trademark finish into the far corner in the 67th minute, before calmly converting a penalty he earned six minutes later and pouncing on a defensive blunder to score his third in the 84th.

United States manager Mauricio Pochettino said Sunday's 5-0 thrashing of Trinidad and Tobago in their Gold Cup opener would do his squad the world of good after they came in for some stinging criticism during a four-match losing run. With the World Cup on the horizon, former Tottenham Hotspur boss Pochettino said the Gold Cup would be a chance for players to stake their claim for a place in the squad next year. "We want to win, but at the same time it's to help the players to perform and to knock (on) the door and say, we can perform for the national team and we can be involved in the next World Cup," he added. "That is what I expect. Win, and the player really believes that they are having the opportunity...(to) fight for a place in the World Cup." The U.S. top Group D ahead of Saudi Arabia, Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago. They next face the Saudis, who beat Haiti 1-0 in their opener, in Texas on Thursday. The Gold Cup runs until July 6.

BetMGM boosts annual forecast on iGaming, online growth
Ladbrokes owner Entain said on Monday BetMGM, its U.S. sports-betting joint venture with MGM Resorts, raised its annual revenue and core earnings forecast, driven by strong growth in its iGaming and online sports divisions. BetMGM, which has been growing its online presence and capitalising on a booming e-betting market, now expects revenue of at least $2.6 billion and core earnings of at least $100 million in fiscal 2025, Entain said. It had earlier forecast revenue of between $2.4 billion and $2.5 billion, and positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA).

Despite coming under late pressure, Botafogo held firm to secure the three points, with goalkeeper John making a brilliant save deep in added time to deny Seattle an equaliser. The goal energised the hosts and they dominated the final stages but could not find the equaliser, with John's reflex save in added time preserving Botafogo's narrow victory.
