After a 13-week reign on the Hot 100, 'Luther,' the collaboration between Kendrick Lamar and SZA, has been replaced in the top spot by Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae. Their joint effort, 'What I Want,' debuts at No. 1, earning the country star another champion and McRae her first.
While 'Luther' may have fallen from the summit of the Hot 100, it's still commanding on several other Billboard rankings. The track continues to hold at No. 1 on some of the company's genre-specific tallies, and as it leads one roster, Lamar makes history once again, becoming the only artist to achieve a rare feat – again, that is.
'Luther' is once again in charge of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, where the duet has now ruled for 22 weeks. As it keeps in first place, the tune ties the all-time record for the most time spent at No. 1 on that ranking. Lamar's SZA collaboration matches a best showing that was first set just a few months ago.
Now, 'Luther' is on the same level as Lamar's 'Not Like Us,' as both are tied as the longest-running No. 1s in the history of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally. Lamar had already been in a league of his own thanks to his Drake diss track, which won both Record and Song of the Year at the Grammys and ruled this list for 22 frames, ending its stay at the top earlier in 2025. Now, he's matched his own best performance.
There's a strong chance 'Luther' will continue to reign, potentially earning a twenty-third stay at the summit when Billboard updates its rankings again in just a few days.
Just last week, 'Luther' was tied with 'Kill Bill' by SZA as the second-longest-running leader ever on this roster. Now that it has matched 'Not Like Us,' 'Kill Bill' shifts into third place on the all-time list. That movement means SZA is now responsible for two of the three sturdiest champions in the chart's history.
'Luther' is still a massive hit across the Billboard charts, and it lives inside the top 10 on many rosters. In addition to the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally, the Lamar-led track also rules the Hot Rap Songs chart for a twenty-second week.
It's only the second team-up to reach that milestone — and it still has a month to go before potentially matching the 26-week record held by 'Not Like Us,' which controlled the roster for exactly half a year.
