70MM Is Small for Me, 3D Is Not Good Enough: Shah Rukh Khan on Loss, Work and Making Films for His Parents

Shah Rukh Khan reveals that the driving force behind his relentless work ethic stems from the profound loss of his parents at a young age. He strives to create films of such magnitude that they can witness his success from beyond, feeling that even grand cinematic formats fall short of his vision. For someone who has spent over three decades lighting up cinema screens and winning hearts across the globe, Shah Rukh Khan 's relationship with his work goes far deeper than fame, fortune, or applause. In a deeply moving reflection, the superstar opened up about how personal loss has shaped his journey, and why even the grandeur of a 70MM screen or the magic of 3D feels inadequate when it comes to the films he dreams of making. In a clip that is now doing the rounds of social media, during his conversation with NDTV while talking about the relationship between his parents and his work , he said 'I just feel that because they died, and I needed to fill in the gaps that I have in my life even now — I work so much'' Shah Rukh said, speaking about losing both his parents at a young age. 'People say if you work a lot and work very hard, everything seems easy. Everything has come easy to me because I work so hard, but I don't wish this upon anyone. I would never like anyone to have this kind of loss.' For Khan, the relentless drive to work isn't fueled by ambition alone, but by a desire to connect with the people he lost. 'I believe maybe Allah took away my parents so that I could see this,' he said. 'I always think I will make such big films that wherever they are, they are able to see it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo 70MM is small for me. 3D is not good enough.'
