Jeremy Clarkson talks doing things for 'last time' as he addresses retirement
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? host and former Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson questioned what he'd do with himself if he retired, following recent health woes
Jeremy Clarkson shared his thoughts on retirement and death
Jeremy Clarkson has shared his thoughts on retirement and confronting the notion of death. The ex-Top Gear and Grand Tour host said that he's not ready to put a stop to his commitments just yet, as without work he'd lack purpose.
The presenter of Clarkson's Farm, 65, believes he would end up as an "an alcoholic" if he stopped working because he doesn't have hobbies to keep him busy.
Writing in his column with the Sunday Times, Jeremy said: "I'd just be an alcoholic if I stopped working, what else would I do? I have no hobbies, I'm good at nothing. Some people enjoy playing golf or fishing or whatever.
"I'm not really interested in anything particularly. What would I do? Watercolour paint? Birdwatch? I wouldn't be able to fill the day. No, I enjoy having lots of different jobs to do."
In addition to discussing stepping away from work, Jeremy shared his thoughts on mortality.
This isn't the first time Jeremy has talked about this mortality

Although still in his mid-60s, he acknowledged that certain activities have been done for the last time by him, such as skiing.
He reflected: "When you die, you've done everything in your life for the last time, be it clean your teeth or go for a walk with the dog or whatever it might be, you've always done everything for the last time.
"I've definitely skied for the last time. I was in Zermatt on a beautiful day with magnificent snow and I suddenly thought, I hate this, why do I do it? I've never been back and I never will."
Jeremy has been open about his thoughts on death in recent months, following a recent health scare.
Last year, he revealed that he had undergone heart surgery, which included the insertion of a stent.
This health wake-up call prompted Jeremy to make significant lifestyle changes, including adopting a healthier diet and altering his drinking habits.
Earlier this year, he shared with fans that he was "feeling better" and had reduced how many sausages he eats.
While filming his ITV show Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, Jeremy mentioned: "My phone flashed up this morning saying, 'you are taking far fewer steps this week than last'.
"I thought, 'yeah I would be as I am sitting here'. It also says you are eating far fewer sausages. I just sit here and eat celery. I am feeling better on it. I do feel very well."
In recent months Jeremy has talked frankly about changes he has made to his life
Jeremy also revealed that he had consulted a dietician, who provided him with a list of guidelines, including avoiding processed foods with multiple ingredients. He later said he was feeling great after making these changes.
Before his health scare and heart surgery, Jeremy expressed concerns about getting older and its implications. In a previous column, he shared his struggles with hearing loss and was informed that it could increase his risk of developing dementia.

He explained: "It's not that I can't hear anything. If you were to stand at the bottom of my garden and whisper, 'Would you like a glass of wine?' I'd be there in a jiffy.
"But if you stood right next to me and asked me to empty the dishwasher, I'd just get a Garfunkelly sound of silence.
"I was told after my most recent medical that hearing loss will double the chance of me catching dementia."

Meghan Markle's 'vulgar' move would leave King Charles 'horrified', claims expert
Meghan Markle stunned the world by sharing a video of her in a hospital room before giving birth to her daughter. A royal commentator has described Meghan Markle's decision to share a video of her twerking in an effort to induce labour as "utterly bizarre", which would likely leave King Charles "horrified". The Duchess of Sussex surprised fans and the press by uploading the footage on Lilibet's fourth birthday, where she danced vibrantly in a maternity ward with Prince Harry by her side. Meghan is seen in the video energetically twerking to Starrkeisha's Baby Momma Anthem, hitching her skirt above the knees, lifting her arms and shuffling low, hands placed firmly on her waist, legs moving rhythmically. Posting the video, Meghan reflected: "Four years ago today, this also happened," adding that after other methods such as eating spicy food, walking extensively, and trying acupuncture failed, dancing seemed like the next option. "Both of our children were a week past their due dates... so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work – there was only one thing left to do!" she penned. Jennie Bond, ex-BBC Royal correspondent, gave her take on the surprising clip, telling the Mirror that those moments are typically highly private for any couple. Emphasising the significance of personal choice during childbirth, Bond stated: "The hours before you give birth are some of the most personal, intimate and private in the lives of any couple. "Women are perfectly entitled to do whatever they feel like to get through the waiting, and the pain. Giving birth is a serious business, and anything to lighten the mood is welcome. "However, to share those scenes with the world is utterly bizarre and, in my view, takes away all the magic of the moment. I cannot imagine why she chose to release it. "Maybe show it one day to your nearest and dearest- but to anyone and everyone who wants to click on it? "I can hear the voice of the late Queen's former private secretary, Lord Charteris, repeating the comments he once made about Fergie: 'Vulgar, vulgar, vulgar'." She went on: "If the King has watched it, which I doubt, though he can't have missed the headlines I'm sure he would be horrified. Royalty has to carry with it some measure of dignity. "I'm glad they were so happy before the birth, I'm glad Harry was there to support his wife in every way, I'm delighted to hear that he's such a great dad. But they really can't have it both ways. "They can't demand privacy and be so coy about sharing images of their children and then show us all these intensely intimate scenes. "And she cannot expect to be treated as if she's royal whilst behaving like a click-hungry social media influencer." Jennie admitted, though, that such videos will "connect in a very real way to young people". "Perhaps that's what Meghan is trying to do," she reasoned. "My own daughter thought the video humanised both Meghan and Harry and was light-hearted and hugely relatable. "It reminded her of her own pregnancies and labour and she thought it was rather charming. "In many ways, I agree with her. I just don't think it sits happily with trying to cling to the vestiges of being ' royal '." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Coronation Street star welcomes second baby with unique and 'beautiful' name
Rebecca Ryan, who played Lydia Chambers on the cobbles, has given birth to her second child with husband Dan. Coronation Street's Rebecca Ryan has given birth to her second child. The former cobbles star, known for her role as Lydia Chambers, shared the delightful arrival of her newest daughter with husband Dan Acram. The soap actress announced the heartwarming news on Instagram, two years after their first child Aurora was born. She introduced her bundle of joy to her followers with a sweet reveal - and an even sweeter, stand-out moniker. "Introducing the newest member of my little girl gang, the adorable Oriana," Rebecca, 34, wrote. The name Oriana shares a Latin root with Aurora and is linked to the Latin meaning for gold, 'aurum', and dawn or sunrise, 'oriens'. Her brother Jack, who also appeared in the ITV soap as Jacob Hay, raced to share his delight in the comment section, gushing: "Proof that the first time wasn't a fluke, you make the most beautiful babies." Congratulatory messages poured in from Rebecca's Corrie colleagues, including Sally Carman who raved: "She's beautiful! Congratulations to you both!" and Elle Mulvaney who added: "congratulations she is beautiful." The mum-of-two also shared an adorable Instagram snap of Dan and Aurora carrying Oriana out of hospital in a car seat with the caption: "Family," followed by a pink love heart. Van Morrison's 'Days Like This' played over the Story. Rebecca has showcased her talent across various popular series such as Waterloo Road, Casualty, and Shameless. Prior to giving birth, she documented her pregnancy journey online with snapshots depicting her growing bump. "Sleeps overrated anyway, here comes baby No.2," she wrote in her latest pregnancy announcement. The touching post was followed by a red heart emoji. Rebecca and her husband have been eagerly showing off their firstborn daughter on social media since she arrived in 2023. Last year, Rebecca delighted followers with charming snaps of her darling girl celebrating her first birthday. Taking to Instagram, Rebecca wrote: "My darling girl Aurora, where has this year gone? "The immeasurable joy and love you have brought into my life is something I will be forever thankful for. "Your cheeky smile lights up every room, and I just love watching you grow and change every single day. "You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Happy 1st birthday my girl." The arrival of a second child will add another member to Rebecca's expanding clan, which features her accomplished sibling, also known for his soap work. Audiences were surprised to hear that Rebecca and Jack were siblings when she joined the cast of the beloved British soap shortly after Jack began playing Jacob. Even the showrunners were taken aback when they discovered that the two were related upon casting them as principal stars. Reflecting on the reaction, Rebecca told The Mirror: "Nobody at 'Coronation Street' had any idea. "When I joined, I'd be talking to people and say, 'Oh, yeah, my brother works here'. And they'd go, 'Really, who's your brother? What? Jack!' "It's a dream come true to be working on the show at the same time, but it's a total coincidence." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Princess Andre reunites with 'gorgeous' mum Katie Price during her Pride performance amid claims the glamour model won't feature in daughter's new reality show
Princess Andre reunited with her mum Katie Price on Saturday night as she shared behind-the-scenes clips from her headline performance at Portsmouth Pride. The influencer, 17, posted a sweet backstage selfie with her former glamour model mum, 46, on Snapchat as she supported her at the event. Princess kept casual in a grey hoodie while Katie wowed in a pink dazzling fringe jacket which she wore over a black minidress and donned a sparkling hat. The oldest daughter of Katie and ex husband Peter Andre filmed from the side of stage as her mum performed, she wrote: 'She's such a baddie'. In another selfie on Snapchat, Katie beamed in a more low-key look while Princess pouted to the camera. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Despite Katie making her name, and her millions, as a reality television star it was recently reported that daughter Princess isn't quite so impressed by her mother's star quality because she will not feature on her forthcoming ITV show. MailOnline revealed that Katie will not appear on the fly-on-the-wall programme which will see influencer Princess, who turns 18 next month, become a celebrity in her own right but her dad Peter, step-mum Emily and older brother Junior are all to have parts in the series. The programme will follow her work and home life as she prepares to reach the milestone age and last month, the popular teenager was spotted with a camera crew outside the London offices of hair styling brand GHD. A television insider told MailOnline: 'Katie will not be in Princess's show, the decision has been made and it's final. 'Princess loves her mum, and they have a great relationship, but the show is all about her work and home life. 'Television bosses were adamant that nothing was to be 'staged' to include Katie as it would not be a real and truthful insight into her life.' Princess has already signed big money deals with clothing and beauty brands including being an ambassador for high street chain Superdrug, Studio London, Morphe and Revolution. Cameras will be following her around as she continues to make waves in the highly lucrative influencer world up until she turns 18 at the end of June. Despite Katie making her name, and her millions, as a reality television star it seems that Princess isn't quite so impressed by her mother's star quality But television executives have been so impressed with the teenager that it looks set to be the start of her television career and clearly don't want her controversial mother to muddy her chances at becoming a household name. Back in 2020 dad Peter launched the family's YouTube channel, The Andres, which gave viewers a glimpse into their lives. The source added: 'Princess is a complete natural, which isn't surprising considering she grew up on her parents' reality TV shows. 'Everyone working on the show has been really impressed with her attitude and professionalism. She's got a lot going on so there's plenty of great stuff for them to film. 'It's a really exciting time for Princess.' She hopes the series will help launch her catwalk career. Peter, who shot to fame in the noughties with his hit Mysterious Girl, has brought Junior and Princess up along with wife Emily, 35, with whom he has three children, Amelia, 11, eight-year-old Theo and daughter Arabella, who was born in April 2025. Meanwhile, Katie has son Harvey from her relationship with footballer Dwight Yorke as well as Jett, 12, and Bunny, 11, from her marriage to Kieran Hayler. Katie and Peter, 52, started their relationship in 2004 after getting together on I'm A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here! but their relationship fell apart in 2009 and they divorced.
