Ukrainian delegation arrives in Turkey for peace talks
ALBAWABA - A Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesperson said that the Kyiv delegation arrived in Istanbul for peace talks with the Russian officials, AFP reported on Monday. The discussions are scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. (1000 GMT). The talks are one day after Kyiv forces' strongest attacks against Russia, as Ukraine claims to have destroyed over 40 Russian bomber planes at several military airbases, the BBC reported. Ukraine informed the American administration before carrying out the attack, a Ukrainian official said, as reported by Axios. Today, a brilliant operation was carried out — on enemy territory, targeting only military objectives, specifically the equipment used to strike Ukraine. Russia suffered significant losses — entirely justified and deserved. — Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський (@ZelenskyyUa) June 1, 2025 Among the planes targeted were allegedly high-value bombers, including the Tu-95, Tu-22M3, and the A-50 plane. Ukraine's President said on X: "Today, a brilliant operation was carried out — on enemy territory, targeting only military objectives, specifically the equipment used to strike Ukraine. Russia suffered significant losses — entirely justified and deserved." "In total, 117 drones were used in the operation with a corresponding number of drone operators involved. 34% of the strategic cruise missile carriers stationed at air bases were hit. Our people operated across several Russian regions — in three different time zones. And the people who assisted us were withdrawn from Russian territory before the operation, they are now safe," he added.
