Delhi Confidential: Power Distribution

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati has assigned a responsibility to the party's national general secretary, Mewa Lal Gautam, UP state unit president Vishwanath Pal and BSP office in-charge Ram Avtar Mittal to hold monthly meetings of 'Pichhda Varg Bhaichara Committees', which were formed recently to reach out to OBC voters. The three leaders met the coordinators of these committees at the BSP office on June 10. Mayawati herself held the first meeting of these committees on March 24 this year. Party insiders said it is the first time the BSP chief has decentralised powers and assigned the responsibility of holding meetings of a crucial body of the party to other leaders. After the meeting, Pal gave a report to Mayawati about progress in work of the committees.
The Central Government has prepared a calendar comprising important events which it seeks to adequately publicise for outreach purposes over the next two years. The list includes National Security Day, Indian Coast Guard Day, Assam Rifles Raising Day, National Science Day, National Vaccination Day and other dates on which various flagship schemes of the government were launched. The aim is to plan for organising events around the specific event or day by the government.

Maharashtra plans state wide events to mark 350th martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur

MUMBAI: Maharashtra will hold year-long, state-wide events to mark the 350th martyrdom of the 9th Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, beginning in November. At a meeting chaired by CM Devendra Fadnavis on Friday, representatives of the Sikh community and senior govt officials discussed preparations to make the events memorable. Sant Gyani Harnam Singh Khalsa, Pradahan of Sant Samaj, was among the Sikh representatives who attended the meeting. 'This event of religious tolerance and national consciousness is of immense importance to the country,' Khalsa said. PM Narendra Modi, HM Amit Shah, and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath are expected to attend three major gatherings at Nanded, Nagpur, and Mumbai Metropolitan Region, respectively. 'This historic event will help Maharashtra reaffirm its reputation as a symbol of cultural consciousness, religious tolerance, and national integrity. We are glad the CM is taking personal interest in making the events memorable,' said Bal Malkit Singh, Convenor, Maharashtra Sikh Association and Director of the state-level organising committee of the events. Malkit Singh added that the events will not only create awareness about the Guru's life and works but will also help foster love, peace and communal harmony. Fadnavis said that a special booklet on the life and values of Guru Tegh Bahadur will be published in Hindi, Punjabi, and Marathi to propagate the story of the Guru's life and sacrifice and make the new generation aware of his values. Shah's presence at Yogi govt event today is significant, say UP watchers

Lucknow: The presence of Union home minister Amit Shah at the Lucknow event to distribute appointment letters to the newly recruited 60,000 police constables on Sunday will have much more than a symbolic value. When chief minister Yogi Adityanath met Shah in Delhi on June 9, the pictures of the meeting went viral, becoming a hot topic of discussion in political circles. Although it was officially termed a 'courtesy visit', sources in the UP govt told TOI that the CM called on the home minister primarily to extend an invitation to him to be the chief guest at the ceremony being organised on June 15 for the distribution of job letters to 60,000 police constables recruited recently. Although it's a police event and the Union home minister is a natural choice to be the chief guest for this momentous occasion, it's not as simple as that in this case, say political analysts. "Shah's presence at this event of UP govt is significant considering he has not attended many such events in the past in the state," they say. He attended two big events in the first tenure of govt headed by Yogi — the foundation-laying of forensic institute and the DGPs' meet, but both the events were primarily of the Union home ministry. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If You Need To Kill Time On Your Computer, This Popular Strategy Game Is A Must Forge Of Empires Undo "Defence minister Rajnath Singh, being the local MP, could have been a choice, or Yogi himself could have done it to grab the spotlight after successful completion of India's largest-ever police recruitment and training process," they say, adding, "but the invitation to Shah to do the honours is a prudent move." There have been wild speculations among Yogi's detractors about the ties between the two without much tangible evidence. Shah's presence on the dais on Sunday will quell much of those wild guesses, say the UP watchers. So, when Shah personally hands over recruitment letters to some of the 60,000 selected police constables, in the presence of Yogi, political commentators and pundits are sure to focus on every interaction and action. As per available records on the HM's website photo gallery and archives, both the leaders have met thrice since Dec 28 last year, when Yogi had extended the invite for Maha Kumbh. Yogi then had met Shah during the latter's Maha Kumbh visit and one during another programme. Only Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta and Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav have met Shah at least one more time than Yogi.
