‘The Accountant 2' Director Gavin O'Connor Says Anna Kendrick Is ‘A Hundred Percent In' For Potential Third Film: ‘She and I Have Been Texting'
Although Anna Kendrick, who starred in the first 'Accountant' film, is missing from the sequel, franchise director Gavin O'Connor says she's ready to help complete the trilogy.
Joined by star Ben Affleck and screenwriter Bill Dubuque, O'Connor told The New York Times that Kendrick is ready to return as Christian Wolff's love interest, Dana Cummings, for a potential third film. Affleck added that he, too, is ready for a threequel, and is 'just waiting for another great script.'

Of Kendrick's involvement, O'Connor said that he and Dubuque 'have had some preliminary conversations. I am personally running from another puzzle movie, which we've done twice now. One thing we've talked about is the idea of bringing Anna Kendrick back. Maybe Christian can finally get the love that he deserves.'
'We're hoping she still likes us,' Affleck interjected. O'Connor then added, 'Actually, Ben, she and I have been texting. She said she's a hundred percent in if we want.'
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, O'Connor said he has 'always wanted' 'The Accountant' franchise to be a three-film series, and added that Affleck's Christian needs that sort of runway to complete his arc.
'When Bill and I started talking about the second movie, it was very important that we didn't want a love story. We wanted a love story with brothers. We wanted to do a '48 Hours' or 'Midnight Run' kind of buddy picture,' O'Connor said. 'Then the third movie, which is what the plan has always been, is for [Christian's] quest for love and connection to be consummated. I don't know what that's going to be yet, but that's the intention.'

Dakota Johnson is reflecting on the negative reception her film Madame Web was met with last year. The Fifty Shades Of Grey star appeared alongside Sydney Sweeney and The Last Of Us' Isabela Merced in the Spider-Man spin-off, taking the lead as Cassandra Webb. Upon its release, Madame Web was near-unanimously slammed by critics, and was also a bomb at the box office. Asked about the project during a new interview with the LA Times, Dakota quipped: 'It wasn't my fault.' She explained: 'There's this thing that happens now where a lot of creative decisions are made by committee. Or made by people who don't have a creative bone in their body. And it's really hard to make art that way. Or to make something entertaining that way. 'And I think unfortunately, with Madame Web, it started out as something and turned into something else. And I was just sort of along for the ride at that point. But that happens. Bigger-budget movies fail all the time.' 'I don't have a Band-Aid over it,' she claimed. 'There's no part of me that's like, 'Oh, I'll never do that again' to anything. I've done even tiny movies that didn't do well. Who cares?' Shortly after the movie's release, Dakota admitted she was 'not surprised' to see Madame Web being picked apart in the way that it was. 'It was a real learning experience, and of course it's not nice to be a part of something that's ripped to shreds,' she said. 'But I can't say that I don't understand.' Dakota previously told Entertainment Weekly: '[Before Madame Web, I'd] never really done a movie where you are on a blue screen, and there's fake explosions going off, and someone's going, 'Explosion!' and you act like there's an explosion. That to me was absolutely psychotic. 'I was like, 'I don't know if this is going to be good at all! I hope that I did an okay job!'.'

How Stacy Spikes, Co-Founder of MoviePass, Spends His Day at the Theater
Stacy Spikes grew up at the movies. When he was a child in Houston, his mother would give him and his brother $5 each, drop them off at the theater — the manager knew them by name — and come back hours later. 'She'd probably be arrested today,' he said. 'It was a different time.' But that time at the movies was formative for Mr. Spikes, 56, who in 1997 founded Urbanworld Film Festival, a five-day festival in New York that showcases Black and multicultural films. In 2011, he co-founded MoviePass, a subscription-based ticketing service, which he later sold and then bought back in 2021. 'Seeing Disney films and being dropped off at the theater, that was a form of escape for us, but it was like our babysitter,' Mr. Spikes said. 'I saw 'Blade Runner' when I was 13 years old and I knew I was going to work in this area.' The movie industry has evolved in recent years, but Mr. Spikes remains a film buff. Recently, he saw 'Sinners' three times in three different types of theaters. 'I knew it had great music so I saw it the first time in Dolby Atmos, which focuses on the sound,' he said. This clever slasher-comedy follows a group of Black friends who head to a remote cabin to celebrate Juneteenth. While exploring the cabin's game room, they stumble upon a board game called "The Blackening," which features a racist caricature mascot on the cover and pieces that correlate to each member of the group. To their horror, they find themselves locked in while a "Saw"-esque broadcast explains that they must compete in "The Blackening," a trivia-based game on Black culture, if they want to survive. To make it through the night, they'll have to rely on their wits along with their deep knowledge of horror movie clichés. "The Blackening" is hilariously self-aware, poking fun at classic genre tropes while still delivering suspense and surprises. It feels like a cross between "Scary Movie" and "Get Out," offering up as many laughs as it does scares. Watch it now on Peacock
