Coronation Street's Gary Windass to fight for life in coma
The character supposedly left town to stay with his mother Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) amid a blackmail attempt by Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty).

Longchambon, 42, said: 'Maria and Gary are going through a bit of a rough patch at the minute and initially she's upset that he's left but doesn't think too much into it.

Coronation Street star 'really excited' as they land role in 'gripping' thriller
Channel 4 have given fans a first look at their new gripping crime series In Flight, which stars former Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly. Channel 4 have released first look images of their new crime thriller series In Flight, leaving fans eagerly anticipating its premiere. The six-part series follows the story of flight attendant Jo Conran, played by Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly, whose life is drastically altered. Jo's world is turned upside down when her son is imprisoned in Bulgaria for a murder he claims he didn't commit, and she is subsequently blackmailed into smuggling drugs by Cormac, the leader of a criminal gang, played by Stuart Martin. The show's synopsis states: "As Jo becomes ensnared in the murky underworld of corruption and hired killers, she is forced to carry out their orders while desperately trying to find a way out. "She turns to her ex, Dom, for help. However, no matter how far Jo finds herself from her old life, her mission remains the same, to keep her son alive." The series boasts a talented cast, including Top Boy's Ashley Thomas, Bronagh Waugh, Harry Cadby, Corinna Brown, and Ambreen Razia, reports Leicestershire Live. Described as a high-stakes series, In Flight takes viewers on a thrilling journey across multiple global locations, including Bangkok, Bulgaria, Istanbul, and London. The released images show Jo in her flight uniform, lurking suspiciously by the aeroplane door, and in another scene, she is shown hiding from an ominous figure in another room of a home. One snapshot captures Jo's former flame, Dom, an Officer at Customs, rising from his seat with a look of worry etched on his face as the gang member Cormac stealthily hides behind a column while on the phone, seemingly tracking someone. Expressing her enthusiasm about joining the series, the former Coronation Street actress shared: "I am really excited to be taking on the role of Jo and I can't wait to tell her compelling story. I am delighted to be working with Buccaneer Media again and it's joy to be filming in Belfast." Adding to the buzz, co-creators Mike Walden and Adam Randall remarked: "In Flight is our spin on the noir genre, a high stakes, stylish, romantic thriller with iconic characters and nerve shredding action. " Channel 4 is the perfect home for our story and we're so excited to be collaborating with such a brilliant team. Jo is a character close to our hearts. She is an ordinary woman facing extraordinary odds. We can't wait for audiences to meet her."
