Over 1,000 blood bags collected in blood donation drive of GMA Kapuso Foundation, Philippine Red Cross

In celebration of GMA Integrated News pillar Mel Tiangco's upcoming birthday on August 10, the GMA Kapuso Foundation along with the Philippine Red Cross held a blood donation drive on Friday through the foundation's Sagip Dugtong Buhay project. According to Tiangco's report in "24 Oras," a total of 1,278 blood bags were collected as of 6:50 p.m. on Friday. Among those who donated blood at the event was 64-year-old Victoria Marcelino, who traveled all the way to Quezon City from Baguio City. "Pinaghandaan ko po tapos pinagpray ko kasi nga po 'yung pamasahe, eh awa ng Diyos ay nagbigay ang Panginoon ng biyaya kaya may pamasahe po ako papunta dito. Wala man po akong maiambag ngayon baka sa mga susunod meron po, pero ito pong buhay ko naihandog ko naman po sa ibang tao," she said. Tiangco, who is also GMA Kapuso Foundation's special adviser, graced the blood donation drive earlier today, where she honored those who took their time to help others and donate blood. "Meron tao kang mapapagaling saan mang lupalop siya naroroon, meron kayong taong mapapasaya, meron taong mabibigyan niyo ng pag-asa sa buhay, merong taong nangangailangan na ikaw ang sasagip. Bata man 'yan, matanda, babae, lalake, napakalaking biyaya ang nakalaan para sa inyong lahat," said Tiangco. According to Philippine Red Cross Secretary General Gwendolyn Pang, the non-profit organization has been working with GMA for 29 years now. "All those years, ang ating nakolektang dugo ay nasa 73,373 units or bags of blood," she said. Several performers brought joy to the bloodletting activity, including Cloud 7, Neathan Tan, Ronnie Liang, Rollan Millan, Princess Cañete, Cye Soriano, PNP Dancers, Tessbomb, Nadj Zablan and Gazzingan, Noli Bernardo, Lady Gracia, Papa Yohan, Barangy LS 97.1 Forever. Meanwhile, Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes dedicated a special birthday video message to Tiangco at the end of the segment. "I would like to say that I thank you for everything, for being an inspiration not just to me but for everyone here in GMA and I wish for your birthday syempre ang gusto nating lahat eh magkaroon po kayo ng parating maayos na kalusugan," said Dingdong Dantes. Kim delos Santos says she hasn't spoken to Dino Guevarra since their split in 2004

Kim delos Santos said she hasn't spoken personally with her ex-husband, Dino Guevarra, since their split in 2004. During Monday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the former actress was asked about her current status with Dino. "We haven't really spoken, until today. There was one time that I think nag-reach out siya. He did send an email. Things like that. But then after that wala na din," she said. "It was a like a simple parang, 'why did you leave?' I guess he wanted to fix things, this was after I left. I guess he wasn't expecting it. So 'yun lang, pero hindi naman ako nag-reply," Kim added. Kim also shared that Dino added her on Facebook before but she didn't accept his friend request. "Noong time na 'yon bitter pa ako. So hindi ko naman siya in-add. Sabi ko, 'ba't ko naman to i-add 'to? 'Di naman kami close," she said. But after some time, Kim became close friends with Dino's present wife, Karen. "She posted something on Facebook that made me think. Sabi niya, 'Some people made mistakes, but it doesn't mean they're a bad person.' It wasn't about me in my head, or Dino, but then at that point it just hit me na parang you know what. I think it's time for me to talk," she said. Shortly after, Kim sent a message to Karen saying that whatever happened in the past is now done and that she is OK and has accepted the things that happened between her and Dino. "Kasi I was at peace. 'Yung sa aming dalawa ni Dino at that time, natanggap ko na. Nag-start na akong mag-count ng blessings, kasi kung hindi niya ginawa 'yon hindi ako makakapag-school, hindi ako magiging nurse, hindi ko makakasama ang daddy ko, ang pamilya. So it was like everything happened for a reason," Kim said. Although she haven't met and talked to Dino yet, Kim revealed that she already met Karen. "I met her. Nagkita kami sa mall. Nakita ko rin si Antoinette [Taus]. We have a picture together. Then when I was doing a charity event last year, nag-donate siya. She helped me. No questions asked," she shared. Kim and Dino got married in 2002 and separated in 2004. Following their split, Kim migrated to the United States to study nursing. Before getting married, the two starred in the hit show, "T.G.I.S." where they were known as a popular love team. —Jade Veronique Yap/MGP, GMA Integrated News
