Sassa Gurl joins cast of ‘Bar Boys' sequel
Sassa Gurl is joining the cast of "Bar Boys: After School!" The announcement was made through the official page of "Bar Boys,' posting a first look of Sassa's character sporting blonde hair and wearing a black graduation toga and cap. According to the movie, her character was inspired by a class valedictorian of a prestigious law school. 'She has been training in acting, English, logic, public speaking and rhetoric to play a role that is serious and far from her usual characters,' the caption read. The film also announced the return of Carlo Aquino as Atty. Erik Vicencio, now a lawyer of the marginalized and Odette Khan as Justice Hernandez. "Bar Boys: After School" is the sequel of the 2017 film directed by Kip Oebanda. Kean Cipriano, Enzo Pineda, and Rocco Nacino will reprise their roles. Other cast members include Will Ashley, Glaiza De Castro, Royce Cabrera, Bryce Eusebio, Therese Malvar, Benedix Ramos, and more. Kip also directed the 2024 film "Balota," which won for Marian Rivera the best actress award at Cinemalaya 2024, incidentally her first acting award. Nora Aunor, Pilita Corrales, Gloria Romero, Ricky Davao, Hajji Alejandro honored at Guillermo Mendoza Awards 2025
Nora Aunor, Pilita Corrales, Gloria Romero, Ricky Davao, and Hajji Alejandro were honored with posthumous recognition at the Guillermo Mendoza Awards 2025, also known as the Box Office Entertainment Awards. Ara, Ricky Davao's daughter and Pilita Corrales' granddaughter, shared photos from the awarding ceremony on Saturday in Makati City via Instagram. Among the photos she posted were ones of herself, sister Rikki Mae, and their mom Jackie Lou Blanco onstage with actress Lotlot de Leon, among others, as they received the awards on behalf of their loved ones. The Posthumous Awards as Entertainment Icons were awarded to Pilita, Nora, Gloria, Ricky, and Hajji, who all passed away this 2025. "Many thanks to the Guillermo Mendoza Foundation for a wonderful evening and most especially for honoring the icons we've recently lost in our industry, including my Papa and Mamita," Ara wrote in the caption. "It's been a difficult few months, but I find comfort in moments like these, surrounded by love and family." Kapuso stars were also recognized at the Guillermo Mendoza Awards 2025, including Marian Rivera as Film Actress of the Year for "Balota," an official entry to Cinemalaya 2024. Alden Richards, on the other hand, won the Phenomenal Box Office King award for the top-grossing Filipino film of all time, "Hello, Love, Again." Ruru Madrid also bagged Movie Supporting Actor of the Year for Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 Best Picture winner "Green Bones." Meanwhile, Jillian Ward won Daytime TV Actress of the Year and Raphael Landicho was named Most Popular Child Performer. Will Ashley to star in 'Bar Boys' sequel
Will Ashley is set to star in "Bar Boys: After School!" On Facebook, the official page of "Bar Boys" announced the casting of the Sparkle star as Arvin, a working student who balances his job and law school. Will auditioned for the role two weeks before entered the "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition" as a housemate. He is part of the Big Four along with his duo, Ralph De Leon.
