30-Year-Old Bengaluru Woman Identified As Leader Of Al Qaeda Terror Module, Arrested
Last Updated: Shama Parveen, a 30-year-old woman from Bengaluru, was arrested by Gujarat ATS for allegedly leading an Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) terror module, as per a report. A 30-year-old woman was arrested in Bengaluru after she was identified as the key conspirator behind an Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) affiliated terror module, India Today reported. Shama Parveen was arrested by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on charges of allegedly running the entire module and handling coordinating operations from Karnataka, the report quoted sources as saying. This comes a week after the Gujarat ATS claimed to have busted a terror module in Ahmedabad and arrested four people on charges of allegedly promoting the ideology of Al-Qaeda in the AQIS, a proscribed outfit. The four arrested persons were involved in sharing radical and provocative content, including jihadi propaganda videos of AQIS, on social media platforms with an aim to uproot the democratic system and implement 'sharia' (Islamic law) in India through an armed rebellion, an official release mentioned. Earlier, the ATS received a tip-off that some Instagram account holders were spreading extremist ideology of AQIS and trying to attract Muslim youth towards radical outfits by sharing inflammatory content calling for violence or terrorist acts against Indian citizens. Acting on the tip-off, the ATS kept a close watch on five such Instagram accounts and nabbed four persons, two of them hailing from Gujarat, who were running them. Those arrested were identified by police as Mohammad Faiq, a resident of Delhi, Zeeshan Ali, an inhabitant of Noida (Uttar Pradesh), Saifulla Qureshi, a native of Modasa town of Arvalli district, and Ahmedabad resident Mohammad Fardeen Shaikh. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
