March 12 (Reuters) - Ski jumpers Marius Lindvik and Johann Andre Forfang have been provisionally suspended, along with three Norwegian team officials, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) announced on Wednesday.
The Norwegian ski jumping team are under investigation for allegedly manipulating equipment during last Saturday's men's large hill event in the World Ski Championships in Trondheim, Norway.
Lindvik had finished second but was denied the silver medal following his disqualification after an equipment inspection, along with compatriot Forfang who had finished fourth.
"The only thing that matters to FIS is to leave this process 100% convinced that the sport is free from any form of manipulation," FIS Secretary General Michel Vion said in a statement.
"We will leave no stone unturned to ensure that respect and fairness prevail – in this specific case and across our entire ecosystem."
The Norwegian Ski Federation had earlier suspended two staff members, including head coach Magnus Brevik, after admitting that the national ski jumping team had manipulated jumpsuits to gain an advantage.
FIS added they had seized all Norwegian jumpsuits from the Championships for re-inspection as part of an ongoing investigation.

Bruno Fernandes' four-word wish came true after Man Utd transfer exit confirmed
Bruno Fernandes delivered a heartfelt message to former team-mate Donny van de Beek after he escaped his Manchester United nightmare by leaving the club last summer Bruno Fernandes' wish for former Manchester United team-mate Donny van de Beek has come true, with the Dutchman saying he 'finally feels like a footballer again' after leaving the Red Devils. Van de Beek arrived at Old Trafford in 2020 from Ajax in a £35million deal when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge. But he failed to set Old Trafford alight under the Norwegian, gradually losing confidence and form to the point where he couldn't even establish himself once his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag took the reins. The midfielder made 62 appearances across his miserable four-year spell at the club, which also included unsuccessful loan moves to Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt as United sought to recover some of his transfer fee. The 28-year-old finally escaped his United nightmare by joining La Liga side Girona last summer in a deal worth a reported £420,000, which could rise to £7.6m. It made him United's first high-profile departure of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era, after the arrivals of sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox. After Van de Beek confirmed his move to Girona, his former United captain Fernandes delivered a touching message on social media. Fernandes' four-word message read: "You deserve the best," along with a red heart. The Portuguese, who joined in January before Van de Beek's arrival in the Premier League, will now be glad to know that Van de Beek is enjoying his football again in Spain. The former Netherlands international made 35 appearances for Girona this season, including seven in the Champions League, while scoring three goals and assisting two in all competitions. Van de Beek opened up about rediscovering his form in December, telling Voetbal International:"My role was played out at Manchester United, so at the beginning of this year I wanted to make minutes elsewhere. "The choice for Germany seemed nice, and don't get me wrong, Eintracht Frankfurt is really a big and beautiful club, but I really was lost around there. I was a loan player for a few months and then it is very simple: then you just have to deliver from the first game and impress. But I just couldn't. "I got that far, needed rhythm and a series of games, only that was simply not possible. The result was that I was going to drive myself crazy. I had to show what I could do in a competition, which made me do way too much and I got away from myself." Turning his attention to Girona, he added: "I enjoy it again. The fun, enjoying the game. That is so important and I have missed that feeling for so long. I finally feel like a footballer again. "I think I've made more minutes this season than added up in the past four years. That says enough. The good feeling is back, I feel confidence again and the sacred fire in me has been fueled. Finally." Fernandes had appeared to be nearing his own move away from United in recent weeks. Following the crushing Europa League final defeat by Tottenham, speculation grew that the playmaker was open to leaving United if a big offer came in for him this summer. Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal were said to have held progressive talks with his representatives, while Red Devils bosses were reportedly willing to cash in on their skipper, who turns 31 this year. But it has since emerged that Fernandes rejected Al-Hilal's lucrative offer after mulling things over with his wife. Explaining his decision, Fernandes said: 'It was a very ambitious proposal. The president was a fantastic person. We never discussed the amount [initially]. With my agent? Of course. 'Then, I spoke to my wife and family, and she asked me what my personal goals were in my career. She was someone who always supported me a lot. 'It was an easy move, even at a family level. I had Joao Cancelo there, my children are used to playing with him in the national team, we have a great friendship. But I want to maintain myself at the highest level, playing in the big competitions, and I feel capable of it.' A court on Friday sentenced Arne Bye, 55, to 21 years in prison in a case that has shocked the Scandinavian country. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 A court on Friday sentenced Arne Bye, 55, to 21 years in prison 3 Grim video footage was recovered in the police probe 3 Cameras had been set up in his examination room Former GP Bye was found guilty of committing 70 counts of rape and sexual assault during gynecological examinations of his patients between 2004 and 2022. He was also condemned for 80 instances of abuse of his position as a doctor. Close to all of the offences occurred during medical examinations that Bye carried out on his patients whilst working as a physician at his medical practice in the small town of Frosta in central Norway. The court in the city of Trondelag banned Bye from exercising his medical profession indefinitely and demanded he financially compensate his victims. A harrowing total of 94 women testified during the trial, describing how wicked Bye committed multiple acts of non-consensual touching and digital penetration without medical justification. The acts all constitute rape under Norwegian law. Addressing the court on Friday, Judge Espen Haug reportedly said: "The suspect's actions make this case an extremely serious one. The actions are unacceptable. "The defendant's actions happened in a place and setting where people are supposed to feel safe. "His actions have undermined public trust in the health service as well as doctors in general." The 55-year-old defendant stood up and appeared calm as the maximum sentence was handed to him. France's 'worst paedophile ever' goes on trial as surgeon accused of abusing 299 victims & declaring 'I'm a paedo & proud' The sentence matched the one requested by the prosecution. Bye's defense had argued for lesser sentence, recognising only 20 of the rapes. Bye also filmed the assaults. Cops seized over 6,000 hours of footage during their investigation, including of his gynaecological examinations. Bye was shown to have inserted a "deodorant-like", "bottle-like" and a cylindrical object into the women - with no medical reason for doing so. One woman, speaking to the court last November, said: "I thought I was going to die". Another unnamed woman said she had gone in to her GP's office for a sore throat - before being given one of the invasive examinations. She told how she ended up in her underwear on a bench, saying: "I thought that he is my doctor, so I did as he said." The indictment against Bye says the alleged assaults "happened quickly and unexpectedly" during the examinations. Concerns were raised about him as long ago as 2006 - by another doctor in the gynaecology ward at a local hospital. One of Bye's patients, who was there for further treatment, said her doctor had massaged her genitals during the exam. Bye was able to keep his job until the following year when charges were filed.

Cieran Slicker endures nightmare start for Scotland as Steve Clarke's men suffer TWO major blunders against Iceland
GOALKEEPER Cieran Slicker's debut for Scotland could not have got off to a worse start against Iceland. The Ipswich Town shot-stopper replaced the injured Angus Gunn as Steve Clarke's men were forced into an early change in the June friendly. 3 Cieran Slicker kicking the ball away after conceding Credit: Reuters 3 Gunn forced to go off after just a few minutes Credit: Kenny Ramsay 3 Another howler from the Scotland defence Credit: PA Gunn, who is looking for a new club after being released by Norwich City, went off following a seemingly innocuous challenge after just a few minutes. It meant Clarke had to turn to his bench. And, a few minutes later, Slicker was forced to pick the ball out of his net with one of his first touches, as his dream moment turned into a nightmare. Andri Gudjohnsen capitalised on the goalkeeper's slack pass out, rifling the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box to give the visitors the lead on eight minutes. That mistake clearly dented the 22-year-old's confidence as he needlessly gave the ball away just minutes later before enduring a few other nervy moments. A few shakes of the head after the goal showed his frustration, with his arm going up to his team-mates to acknowledge his mistake. Scotland's next match is against Liechtenstein on Monday before going into the World Cup qualifiers in September. And on this evidence of this display, it is going to have to be a vastly improved performance. Clarke gave debut starts to Max Johnston, fresh from winning the Austrian Bundesliga with Sturm Graz, and striker George Hirst, while Kieran Tierney earned his 50th cap. John Souttar levelled for Scotland half way through the first half, converting Johnston's corner with a header. Steve Clarke likes Lennon Miller's stated ambition to become one of Scotland's top players But the Scots conceded again in calamitous fashion just before the break. An Iceland corner was not properly dealt with by the defence. The ball cannoned off Souttar inside the six-yard box and then Ferguson, with Slicker not covering himself in glory as the ball crept over the line. Incredibly, it went bad to worse for Slicker as Iceland made it three and it was another goalkeeping howler. More to follow...
