'So upsetting' - Keith Duffy opens up about Stephen Gately suicide rumours
Keith Duffy has told how upsetting it was that people thought Stephen Gately killed himself. The singer opened up about the impact the Sky documentary: Boyzone: No Matter What had on people when it aired at the beginning of this year. The Boyzlife star, 50, said he was left upset for years when people would say they thought Stephen took his own life. The father-of-two told us: 'I can't believe the amount of people that watched it, not only in Ireland, but around the world. 'Everywhere I've gone, everybody's saying, people that you wouldn't expect corporate people are saying, I watched your documentary, and I watched it all in one night. People just binge watched three episodes. So it was a good watch. It was well shot. It was very honest. 'And for me personally, it was kind of, I suppose, was like a counselling session, it was kind of therapeutic just to be able to voice how it was for us, you know, young boys growing up in the northside of Dublin and on the outside in, it looked very glamorous, and it looked like we were living the dream. But it was tough. And losing Stephen was horrendous.' The Dubliner said he didn't think people understood the real truth behind Stephen's death. The star died at his Spanish holiday home in 2009 from a pulmonary oedema resulting from an undiagnosed heart condition when he was just 33. Keith said: 'Some people unfortunately thought he took his own life, which for me, was so upsetting, because Stephen was at the happiest part of his life. He was really buzzing.' Jessie J reveals need for more surgery after emergency dash to hospital
The 37-year-old has been recovering from breast cancer surgery she had in June, which involved a mastectomy. Now back home, she revealed yesterday that she is preparing for another operation later this year, but vowed it won't stop her from parenting or making music. In a candid Instagram update, Jessie, who is mum to two-year-old Sky, wrote: 'I can rest, parent AND release new music. I didn't leave a major label after 18 years to be scared to re-write the rules to fit around my life/health. I just have to make it realistic on what I can deliver in all roles in my life.' I'm just flowing with life … I am choosing to carry on Confirming she will be undergoing surgery again, she added: 'Another surgery needed this year. I can do it. Raising a toddler. I can do it. Releasing new music. I can do it. 'It will look different to what I had planned, but that's life, things change and either we panic and get mad that it isn't what it was going to be, or we ADAPT. 'I'm just flowing with life ... Instead of stopping and disappearing and waiting for the timing to be perfect to release music again, I am choosing to carry on. 'Life is layered and has highs and lows and we just have to keep living through all of it. 'So here I am. LIVING. And I just want you to have the music. Deal?' She later went on to tell fans she can be 'a creative artist, present mother and healing patient, all at the same time', signing off with a magic wand emoji. Earlier this week, Jessie revealed she returned to hospital where an infection and 'a little fluid' on her lungs were discovered. The star said she had since discharged herself from the hospital where she was treated after breast cancer surgery just weeks ago. She revealed in July that she had since seen 'no cancer spread'. She went on to say it was 'frustrating' that her career plans had to change due to her upcoming surgery and hospital visits. She added that she had been 'working so hard to get to this point and excited to do it all'. The singer has battled with ill-health throughout her life. She was diagnosed with a heart condition aged eight, suffered a minor stroke aged 18, and briefly went deaf in 2020.
