City experiences driest April in nine years as temperature rises
According to the Met department's recent report for April, monthly rainfall in Ludhiana was 0.5 millimetres, indicating a 97% deficit in rainfall. The lowest minimum (night) temperature in Ludhiana in April, 2025 was 13.2 degrees Celsius. The last time the lowest temperature was higher than the present value was in 2024 when it was recorded at 13.6 degrees Celsius.
Among the various cities of Punjab, the average maximum temperature in April, 2025 was highest in Patiala at 37.9 degrees Celsius, followed by Ludhiana at 37.5 degrees Celsius. Kulwinder Kaur Gill, principal agrometeorologist at PAU's School of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology, attributed this to climate change and western disturbances. She explained that if four to five western disturbances occur in a month, they prevent temperature from rising, but if there aren't any, temperature rises. She added that since there were no rainy days in April, average temperature was higher.

The rain on Sunday had an effect on day temperature. As per the met department, rainfall in Ludhiana from 8.30am to 5.30pm on Sunday was recorded at 1 millimeter. As per the Met department, maximum (day) temperature in Ludhiana on Sunday was recorded at 36.4 degrees Celsius, 1.6 degrees less than normal and 0.1 degree less than a day before. However, minimum (night) temperature in the city on Sunday was 24.2 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees above normal and 1.8 degrees more than a day before. The met department forecast for the next three days is "Partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers".

Delhi sees pleasant weather, IMD warns of heavy rainfall in other states
Residents of the national capital woke up to pleasant weather on Wednesday after light rainfall earlier this week brought down the temperature. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that the sky will remain generally cloudy, with light rain or drizzle during the day. Heavy rain forecast for Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh The IMD issued a warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms in parts of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. A red nowcast warning was issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Ratnagiri, where intense rainfall is expected along with winds of 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph. NDRF, SDRF deployed in Gujarat Parts of Gujarat witnessed heavy rains on Tuesday, with more downpours likely along coastal districts over the next two days. Districts such as Navsari, Valsad, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, and Gir Somnath may receive heavy to very heavy showers. The State Emergency Operations Centre reported that Dwarka and Kalyanpur talukas of Devbhumi Dwarka received 138 mm and 129 mm rainfall, respectively, in 12 hours. Till August 25, moderate to heavy rain is forecast across most parts of Gujarat. Authorities have deployed 12 teams of the National Disaster Response Force and 20 teams of the State Disaster Response Force in different districts. Out of the state's 206 reservoirs, 61 are on high alert, 27 on alert, and 21 on warning level. Nodal officers of all departments have been instructed to remain vigilant.
