2025 Chargers schedule with game-by-game predictions
Ladies and gentlemen, the Chargers' schedule is out.
It's only right to go through every game on the schedule and predict the results. Just on paper, let's see what we have the Bolts going in 2025.
Week 1 vs. Chiefs
You can't start the season much tougher than facing the defending AFC Champions in a game played in Brazil. There wouldn't be a better way for Jim Harbaugh and company to set the tone for the season than to pull off a win like this. The Chargers played well against the Chiefs last season, and with upgrades throughout this year's roster, Los Angeles squeaks out a massive victory in Week 1.
Prediction: Win (1-0)
Week 2 @ Raiders
The Raiders quarterback situation will be better with Geno Smith, but the Chargers should still handle business here. It's a primetime Monday Night Football matchup, and the Chargers should particularly dominate in the trenches.
Prediction: Win (2-0)
Week 3 vs. Broncos
The matchups between these two teams will feature evenly matched rosters. Given that this contest is at home, we'll hand the Chargers another victory in Week 3.
Prediction: Win (3-0)
Week 4 @ Giants
The Giants may be better in 2025 as they have three decent options at quarterback now. The Chargers should still be too much for them, though, which should lead to their fourth victory of the season.
Prediction: Win (4-0)
Week 5 vs. Commanders
Will Jayden Daniels go through a sophomore slump? He's the kind of talent that avoids those seasons, and the Chargers defense may struggle with his mobility in this one. Despite being at home, the Bolts drop their first game of the year.
Prediction: Loss (4-1)
Week 6 @ Dolphins
It was a down year for Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins in 2024, but they still have plenty of firepower. The Chargers secondary will struggle to keep up with Miami's speed and loses a close one on the road.
Prediction: Loss (4-2)
Week 7 vs. Colts
Stopping the Colts' run game is a clear X-factor in this contest with the combination of Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor. The Chargers do just enough to slow them down and get back on track to end a two-game losing streak.
Prediction: Win (5-2)
Week 8 vs. Vikings
Vikings rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy faces his college head coach and defensive coordinator in this one. While he should have his feet wet at this point in the season, the Chargers coaching staff should know some ways to stifle his arm. Still, the Vikings' offense is difficult to stop, and this matchup features two of the more balanced teams in the league. Minnesota walks away with a huge road victory with an impressive performance from their defense.
Prediction: Loss (5-3)
Week 9 @ Titans
The Chargers face a rookie quarterback in consecutive weeks with the #1 overall pick, Cam Ward, this time around. This Titans roster doesn't have enough talent to compete with the Chargers. Give Los Angeles a comfortable victory here.
Prediction: Win (6-3)
Week 10 vs. Steelers
The quarterback situation in Pittsburgh is still up in the air, and they have less talent than in past years anyway. Herbert was injured in last year's contest against the Steelers, leading to a crucial loss. Expect him to put some big numbers in a revenge victory here on Sunday Night Football.
Prediction: Win (7-3)
Week 11 @ Jaguars
The Jaguars should not be nearly as bad this year with Liam Coen as the new head coach and electric rookie Travis Hunter. There's no excuses for Trevor Lawrence now, and they take care of business over the Chargers at home with their aerial attack.
Prediction: Loss (7-4)
Week 12: BYE
Week 13 vs. Raiders
The Chargers have an extra week of preparation here with the bye in Week 12. They sweep their division rival here and improve to 8-4 on the season.
Prediction: Win (8-4)
Week 14 vs. Eagles
The Chargers will get the defending Super Bowl champs at home here late in the season. Saquon Barkley has to be of concern after his legendary 2024 campaign. The NFC East side is too much for the Chargers in this one.
Prediction: Loss (8-5)
Week 15 @ Chiefs
Good luck sweeping Patrick Mahomes.
Prediction: Loss (8-6)
Week 16 @ Cowboys
We'll see how the Cowboys bounce back this season, although they did add a major piece in George Pickens. Coming off two straight losses, the Chargers bounce back in a big way with a clutch victory with a late defensive stop.
Prediction: Win (9-6)
Week 17 vs. Texans
CJ Stroud hit a bit of a sophomore slump in 2024, but he has the talent to bounce back. His wideouts should be better in 2025, but they seem to be a few pieces away from legitimate Super Bowl contenders. This quarterback battle will be fun to watch in a rematch of the playoff contest from this past season.
Prediction: Win (10-6)
Week 18 @ Broncos
It's always difficult to sweep division rivals, particularly when the teams are evenly matched. The Chargers did just that to the Broncos in 2024. This time, Denver avoids the sweep with a Week 18 victory.
Prediction: Loss (10-7)

Rashee Rice Sends Clear Message to Chiefs WR Amid Offseason
Rashee Rice Sends Clear Message to Chiefs WR Amid Offseason originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Coming off their surprising blowout loss in Super Bowl LIX, the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a pretty big dent in their aura of invincibility. Advertisement But while there are those who predict them to take a step back this coming season, the reality is that they still have a very strong roster. If anything, they could become a little bit better, mostly because wide receiver Rashee Rice is expected back after a knee injury in Week 4 of 2024 prematurely ended his season. Teammate Marquise Brown took to Instagram to post a message as the Chiefs continue to gather for organized team activities (OTAs) with the start of the 2025 campaign three months away. "Hope these voices in my head go quiet 🥷🏿🌪️," he wrote. Rice responded with the comment "My Bloody!🤞🏾♥️." After trading superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill in 2022, Kansas City has had what has seemed like a revolving door at that position. But Rice has given them hope that he can become a major go-to guy. Advertisement After he was a second-round draft pick in 2023, he caught 79 passes for 938 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie while starting eight of 16 games. Until his injury last fall, he had 24 receptions, 288 yards and two touchdowns in four games. He isn't quite as speedy as Hill, but he has shown plenty of promise in one season and change. Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice (4).Kareem Elgazzar-USA TODAY Sports The new speedster in Kansas City is wideout Xavier Worthy, who set a new NFL scouting combine record by running the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds in 2024. As a rookie last year, he had 744 total yards and nine total touchdowns. In that Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, he posted eight receptions, 157 yards and two touchdowns. Missouri House Committee passes Chiefs, Royals stadium plan
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The stadium package for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals cleared another hurdle at the Missouri State Capitol Tuesday. The House Committee on Economic Development endorsed the package following more than three hours of discussion. Potential Royals move to Kansas sparks mixed reaction in Overland Park What was talked about had to do with Senate Bill 3. It's the same package that body approved early Thursday morning. It funds any stadium plans for the Chiefs and Royals with tax revenues that the stadiums generate. Republican State House Rep. Sherri Gallick from Cass County, heads the Economic Development Committee. On more than one occasion during the committee meeting, she expressed her support for the bill. She discussed how much the Chiefs and Royals do for charities on the west side of the state. 'Those things may not exist, or they may exist on the Kansas side,' Gallic said of 15 and the Mahomies. 'I would like them to continue to exist on the Missouri side.' Gallick was alluding to the fact that the Kansas Legislature passed a Sales Tax and Revenue (STAR) Bond package one year ago, aimed at trying to lure either the Chiefs and or the Royals to the west side of the state line. The Show-Me Institute's Senior Fellow Patrick Tuohey is against the bill and was the only one who testified against the State Senate Committee on Fiscal Oversight passing it. Tuohey came back to the capital city Tuesday. 'The package of STAR Bonds offered by Kansas is not at all competitive, and there's plenty of reporting on this,' Tuohey said to the Economic Development Committee. 'Kansas refuses to put public taxpayer money to back up the bonds if they don't generate enough tax revenue, and that means that investors are not going to be invested in buying this.' One person who came to the capitol to support the stadium package was Kansas City Sports Commission and Visit KC President and CEO Kathy Nelson. Nelson did not testify in Topeka in June of 2024 when Kansas lawmakers passed the STAR Bond package. 'In 2024, sports driven media coverage equated to more than 300 million total impressions, highlighting Kansas City as a travel destination,' Nelson said to the committee. 'Due to our sports teams, last year Kansas City, Missouri was highlighted as a top global travel destination by publications such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Travel and Leisure, Lonely Planet and TIME Magazine. Nothing else puts us on a global map like these teams.' After the hearing, Nelson was asked whether she thinks the teams will stay in the region now that Kansas and potentially the Missouri legislature, will have tried to keep the teams through pieces of legislation. New Heartland Coca-Cola facility opens in Olathe 'I hope so,' Nelson said in response. 'I know both owners personally. I believe their hearts are here in the Kansas City region, and I think they want the opportunity to stay here. They don't want an opportunity to leave.' The full Missouri House of Representatives will likely take up the stadium package Wednesday. The session starts at 10 a.m. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Sean Payton defers comment on J.K. Dobbins reports until Wednesday
On Tuesday afternoon, word emerged that running back J.K. Dobbins has signed with the Broncos. Not long thereafter, coach Sean Payton met with reporters. And Payton was mum about the situation. 'I'm not going to answer to any reports,' Payton said. 'I think we're close. I'll tell you tomorrow.' Dobbins likely will be in the fold on Wednesday, and he potentially will be talking to reporters. It'll be interesting to hear what he has to say about his prior team's decision to apply the rarely-used unrestricted free agency tender on Dobbins. The goal wasn't to keep him, not after signing Najee Harris and drafting Omarion Hampton in round one. The objective was to extend the window for having Dobbins's departure count toward the compensatory draft pick formula. As we understand it, Dobbins's Denver salary was held to $2.065 million in order to minimize the impact of the signing on the compensatory pick calculation both for the Chargers (as to UFA losses) and for the Broncos (as to UFA gains). He most likely would have gotten more if the Chargers hadn't played the UFA tender game. And while it's a right the Chargers had under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the specific application of it worked to Dobbins's disadvantage. That's fine. But keep this in mind the next time a player takes full advantage of his rights under the CBA. If it's fair game for the teams to take full advantage of its CBA rights, it's fair game for the players to do it, too.
