Rashee Rice Sends Clear Message to Chiefs WR Amid Offseason
Rashee Rice Sends Clear Message to Chiefs WR Amid Offseason originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Coming off their surprising blowout loss in Super Bowl LIX, the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a pretty big dent in their aura of invincibility.

But while there are those who predict them to take a step back this coming season, the reality is that they still have a very strong roster.
If anything, they could become a little bit better, mostly because wide receiver Rashee Rice is expected back after a knee injury in Week 4 of 2024 prematurely ended his season.
Teammate Marquise Brown took to Instagram to post a message as the Chiefs continue to gather for organized team activities (OTAs) with the start of the 2025 campaign three months away.
"Hope these voices in my head go quiet 🥷🏿🌪️," he wrote.
Rice responded with the comment "My Bloody!🤞🏾♥️."
After trading superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill in 2022, Kansas City has had what has seemed like a revolving door at that position. But Rice has given them hope that he can become a major go-to guy.

After he was a second-round draft pick in 2023, he caught 79 passes for 938 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie while starting eight of 16 games. Until his injury last fall, he had 24 receptions, 288 yards and two touchdowns in four games.
He isn't quite as speedy as Hill, but he has shown plenty of promise in one season and change.

The new speedster in Kansas City is wideout Xavier Worthy, who set a new NFL scouting combine record by running the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds in 2024. As a rookie last year, he had 744 total yards and nine total touchdowns.
In that Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, he posted eight receptions, 157 yards and two touchdowns.

The Green Bay Packers just cut cornerback Jaire Alexander, and the Philadelphia Eagles could take advantage of that.
The Green Bay Packers just cut cornerback Jaire Alexander, and the Philadelphia Eagles could take advantage of that. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Per a report by Ian Rapoport on X, the Green Bay Packers are cutting franchise cornerback Jaire Alexander, but he is not likely to be a free agent for very long. Advertisement In a recent article by PFF's Trevor Sikkema, he lists six potential landing spots for the two-time Pro Bowl defensive back, and one of the teams he thinks could be a potential suitor are the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. "We have to throw this one in here because, well, it's the Eagles. Part of their run to the Super Bowl last year was capitalizing on players like this becoming available and forming the best team in the league," Sikkema wrote. "The Eagles have Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in their secondary, two players who were excellent as rookie starters in 2024... Perhaps Alexander would take a big discount to be the veteran in the room for a team looking for another title." The Eagles cut veteran cornerback Darius Slay earlier this offseason, so the team could use someone to step in and fill his spot. Alexander has dealt with a number of injuries the past several seasons, so his last full season was in 2022. In 16 games that year, he was able to tally up a solid 56 total tackles, with 43 of them being solo. He was also able to show his incredibly ball-hawk skills with 14 passes defended and five interceptions. Advertisement There's a good chance this is the cheapest that Alexander is going to be after his short seasons in 2023 and 2024, so it could be an intriguing option for the Eagles to pounce and sign the veteran. Injuries Cloud Eagles' Minicamp Outlook as Linebacker Depth Cotinues To Be Growing Concern
Injuries Cloud Eagles' Minicamp Outlook as Linebacker Depth Cotinues To Be Growing Concern originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles wrap up their spring practice sessions, several key players remain sidelined with injuries that will impact their availability for July minicamp. The reigning champions face significant depth concerns at linebacker, while other positions show more promising recovery timelines. Advertisement LB Nakobe Dean (torn patellar tendon): Dean's recovery from the injury suffered during the wild-card victory over Green Bay continues to progress slowly. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio delivered sobering news this week, stating that Dean 'won't be back anytime soon' and 'won't be back for a while.' The third-year linebacker, who was having a breakout season before the injury, has incorporated ballet training into his rehab to improve flexibility and mobility. Dean shed his crutches just three weeks after surgery, but full recovery from a patellar tendon tear typically requires eight to 12 months. With his surgery taking place in January, participation in July minicamp is extremely unlikely. Late July training camp represents his earliest possible return. LB Jihaad Campbell (shoulder surgery): The Eagles' first-round pick will definitively miss July minicamp as he continues to recover from March surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. Fangio confirmed that Campbell 'won't hit the practice field until sometime in August,' meaning the rookie will miss all spring and summer sessions. Though he remains active in meetings and walkthroughs, Campbell's health remains a concern. Reports indicate the Alabama product will eventually require surgery on his other shoulder and may have underlying knee issues. Despite this, the Eagles remain confident in his long-term upside. C Cam Jurgens (back procedure): Jurgens, who recently signed a four-year, $68 million extension, presents a far more optimistic outlook. The newly extended center played through significant back pain during the postseason before undergoing an offseason procedure to address nerve discomfort. He's expected to be fully available for minicamp and training camp, reinforcing the team's confidence in his recovery and value. EDGE Nolan Smith (triceps): Smith's recovery from the triceps tear suffered in Super Bowl LIX is progressing on schedule. The second-year edge rusher has been a limited participant in OTAs and is expected to be cleared for full action by July minicamp, if not sooner. Advertisement FB Ben VanSumeren (knee): VanSumeren, who missed the Eagles' first media-attended OTA session, returned to action June 4. He previously stated he would be ready for training camp, and signs point to him being available for July's minicamp. Of all the injury concerns, linebacker represents the most pressing issue heading into the summer. With Dean and Campbell sidelined, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. has received first-team reps next to Zack Baun throughout OTAs. While this opens the door for younger players to step up, it also highlights the team's thin depth at a crucial position. The Eagles are the only NFL team holding just one mandatory minicamp practice this year, potentially a reward for their Super Bowl run. That limited time on the field makes the health of key contributors even more critical as Philadelphia prepares for another title defense. Training camp in late July will provide the next major checkpoint to determine which injured players are ready to contribute to the Eagles' repeat aspirations. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Following the Pittsburgh Steelers' move to finally sign Aaron Rodgers, the expectations for the team have gone through the roof. They are expected to be a top-tier contender in the AFC with the future Hall of Fame quarterback leading the way. Making this kind of a move is about one thing. It's about pursuing a Super Bowl. Anything short of a deep playoff run would be a massive disappointment for the Steelers. Despite the high expectations for the team, Pittsburgh has received a new jarring prediction that is far from what they're hoping to get out of the 2025 season. After the Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs were No. 2, the Baltimore Ravens were No. 3, the Houston Texans were No. 4, the Denver Broncos were No. 5, the Los Angeles Chargers were No. 6, and the Cincinnati Bengals were No. 7. Not even making the playoffs would be brutal for Pittsburgh. That kind of failure could also cause major changes throughout the Steelers' organization. Heading into the 2025 season, head coach Mike Tomlin has been mentioned as a potential hot seat candidate. He has had a lot of regular season success, but Pittsburgh has not won a Super Bowl since the 2008 season. Should the Steelers not make the playoffs, there is a very real chance that they could consider parting ways with Tomlin to bring in a new voice. Pittsburgh still has time to continue improving the roster around Rodgers. The team could use another wide receiver on the roster alongside DK Metcalf. Keenan Allen has been suggested as a possible name to watch, as have both Amari Cooper and Chris Olave.
